stop oil pressure light will come on at 1800 to 2000 rmp i just changed the oil to full synthetic now i see the oil light come on at 3000 rpm i changed the oil pump and sending unit and the car sounds good no rattles what could be the problem ?? its been doing this for 2 years now

View 1 RepliesSo I put in an MFA cluster a couple months ago and now all of a sudden the other day it started flashing STOP motor oil pressure low turn off car. It happened twice right in a row. I took the car to my local firestone changed the oil and pulled out. Five mins later it did it again. It only seams to go off when my rpms are really low in second or third gear. I'm guessing it's a bad sensor cause my oil level is fine.

View 3 RepliesSo I'm having some problems with the oil pressure warning light beeping at me. First time it came on I stopped immeadietly, checked the oil and it was fine. (I just changed it when I got it) so I started it up again and it was fine for a few days. Then it came on again Real quick then went off. Now it comes on once or twice every trIp. I've replaced the switch already but it was still coming on so I installed an oil pressure gauge and I've confirmed my suspicions that the engine is indeed not loosing pressure. It sits at about 30ish at idle and goes up to aboit 50to 60 while driving 2-3k rpm. Yet the Damn oil light keeps blIbking. I'm assuming it has a wiring problem. Is there a way to shut this up or do I have to trace wires til I find the prob
View 4 RepliesI got a feeling of dread when that light came on, luckily I was a block from home so I shut it off and pushed it home. I had a local VW mechanic come look at it the next morning, only the light wasn't on anymore there is a loud humming coming from the top of the engine, the head as it were, as if high RPM, but no clanking or metal on metal grinding. Does it spell game over?

View 7 RepliesMy oil pressure light is blinking and there is a faint smell of burning oil. I recently had an oil change after letting my car sit for 5 months after the oil pan was replaced. I have checked oil levels and it is just right. I have asked around and everyone comes up with a different answer but they also say they are guessing due to lack of experience with VW's. The light only comes on when the car is moving. When idling, everything appears to be fine.
View 16 RepliesI have a 2001 Golf 1.8T and while driving the oil pressure light turns on and the meter goes beyond the midpoint. I brought it in to a shop and they told me I need to change the oil pump and will cost $900. They told me it's because I don't frequently change oil and once the new oil is in, it caused the problem and only way to drive the car again is to replace the oil pump.

I am looking to change my oil pressure sender/switch but I cannot locate it, my oil light blinks every now and then, I was told the senders go bad often and to try replacing it, I have no oil leaks, just changed the oil and new filter. I also have noticed that when I turn on the car in the morning, while idle is fine, as soon as i pull off there is some blue smoke trail, only in the morning when i pull off, does not happen again, why that could be?
View 5 RepliesI have a mk4 Jetta 1.8t. Problem started last night. After I drive for about 15-20 minutes the oil pressure warning light comes on. It doesn't feel any different and my oil is full. Could my pump be going bad? I hear a slight tick near the bottom of the engine on the passenger side. But the car idles fine and drives fine too.
View 17 RepliesThe other night I was coming home from work in my 1999.5 MKIV 2.0 Golf (Only about a 2 mile drive), once I got to a stop light my car just turned off. No loud bang, no sputter then die, just off (Like I turned the key). After trying to start the car with just a click, pushed it into a nearby parking lot with a friend steering. Once in the park lot we tried bump starting the car (it's a manual) with nothing the car sounding like it wanted to go but never did. The next night I pushed it back to my house, pulled the starter and the battery, and had both of them tested. The starter extended and spun up fine and the battery was in excellent shape.

And also when I'm sitting at a stop light it will jerk forward like it wants to go. I've tried a few things like cv axels and some other things but I'm just hoping it's not the tranny.
View 9 RepliesI've got some problems going on with my 2001 VR6 Jetta. I was driving home from my way to work this evening and all of a sudden the indicator light came on and told me to stop and check the coolant level. Within about three minutes the car was already up to about 200. I pulled over to a gas station and the coolant reservoir was completely empty. So I began to pour coolant in the reservoir and fill it up I notice I was pouring a lot of coolant so I went to the hood looked on the driver side below the bumper and water/cool was pouring out everywhere. I inspected as many radiator hoses as I could and did not find any cracks. The water seem to be pouring out from around the thermostat housing. My question would be since I don't know whole lot about cars would they crack thermostat housing because you need to have this problem?

View 6 Replies2002 1.8t Jetta Wagon with the automatic transmission. They've had it for about a week now and we've been trying to iron a few problems out. Mostly cosmetic until the last couple days.
The coil pack harness is trash. I bypassed a couple of the extreme cracked wires in attempt to keep it going until the new one comes in hopefully at the end of this week. We put new plugs in but only afterward did we find out that NGK or VW is the way to go. We put autolite iridiums in.
New fuel filter, however, the line connecting the tank to the filter will not click into place completely. We are able to start/drive the car without the line popping off from the pressure, but you just have to tug on it with your hand to get it off, no need to depress the clip.
The car seems to run better cold. Once it is warmed up and you've been driving around town for 10-15 minutes is when the shuddering starts. It ONLY dies when in Drive or Reverse while at a complete stop. The idle drops down to 400 rpm or so, you can't rev the motor/drive. Sometimes it will come back up to normal and you can go, sometimes it will go back and forth but you can't get any power to the wheels. Sometimes it will drop the RPMs and shudder at 400 for a couple seconds then just die. It always starts right up without hesitation. In park/neutral the idle is still slightly erratic, occasionally bumping up to around 1300 rpms for a second or two then back to around 900 or so.
When we bought the car, we test drove it and it was fine. Of course that is how it works out. They drove the car for about a week. In that time, it shuddered and died once, and would occasionally shudder at a stop light but there was no issue driving it or loss of power when accelerating.
What I'm wondering is if we should go ahead and order the R8 coil pack and spark plug kit from HSTuning. I'm hoping that the harness fixes the issue, but if it could be cheap spark plugs or a coil pack going out, I'd like to get it all done at once. My main concern is the possibility that it could be the transmission. The symptoms feel like loss of power, not slipping, but still, I'm worried that maybe it could be the issue.
I let my car sit for about a month and about a quart of oil leaked out of it. I drove the car and got the "low oil pressure" light and the STOP warning!. I refilled the engine with oil but now every 5 minutes or so i get the stop warning and then i turn the engine off. If I wait I can drive the car another 5 minutes or so before the warning light goes on. What could be wrong?
View 7 RepliesI was on my way to celebrating my 10 year anniversary this weekend, when the oil pressure light began to blink, the warning buzzer sounded, and the dreaded STOP indicator lit up on the dash. I pulled off of the highway immediately, luckily I was already near an exit, and turned off the car. I called my dealer and told them what had happened. They advised not driving the vehicle, so I had it towed to a local mechanic. We left the car at the mechanic, and rented a car in order to proceed with the anniversary celebration.
I was debating about how to handle the car situation. Should I pay to have the car towed to the dealership to investigate, or attempt to drive the vehicle 45 miles home. I decided to change and inspect the oil, fill with Castrol Syntec 5w-40, start the car and idle for a few minutes and check for any indicators. Everything looked ok. The oil that I drained out looked fine, as it hadn't been that long since the last oil change. No warning indicators. So I decided that I would head home, and if any warning lights came on, I was prepared to call and have it towed to the dealership. We made it home fine, without incident. No warning lights, no odd engine noises, no leaks, no smoke, everything normal.
A week ago, I had the latest recall handled. When I picked up the car from the dealership, I noticed that the AC wasn't as cold as normal. If you can call the normal condition "cold". I didn't think much of it until we started out for this vacation. But now that the AC isn't working, and I got the oil pressure warning "out of the blue" I am having some worries.
Questions:What should I do with the car now? Take the car to the dealership to check out the indicator light? Have them check for oil sludge? I am the second owner. The first owner had it on lease, and I think I have most of the oil change records.
It sounds like others are having concerns about the recent ECU flash. Could the new flash have changed the pressure at which the oil pressure indicator comes on in order to avoid further oil sluge/engine replacement issues? Did VW disable AC all together? What others may have found out about the recent ECU flash.
The engine light and Stop Engine low oil pressure light came on in my 2007 Passat. I had it towed to the dealer where it went through inspection for CPO certification. I purchased and had maint. and repairs completed at the dealership. I am at 84,000m. It is less than two years from date of purchase--however I am 12,000m outside of the limited warranty.
Dealership has said that there is factory based engine failure. To my knowledge, a diagnostic (1 Camshaft Position (Bank 1) Timing over advanced or system performance intermittent) and seeing metal near filter led to the conclusion that I can pay to take apart the engine--but most likely will need to replace the engine.
Outside mechanic has pointed out that the 2.0 engine tends to have some metal in the oil. How much or how big could signal internal damage. Small amounts can be "normal".
Looking for steps that could be taken before taking apart the engine? As it is less than 2 yrs. Passat 2007 (2.0 engine) ....
