Passat - Volkswagen :: 2007 - Stop Engine Low Oil Pressure Light Comes On

Sep 20, 2012

The engine light and Stop Engine low oil pressure light came on in my 2007 Passat. I had it towed to the dealer where it went through inspection for CPO certification. I purchased and had maint. and repairs completed at the dealership. I am at 84,000m. It is less than two years from date of purchase--however I am 12,000m outside of the limited warranty.

Dealership has said that there is factory based engine failure. To my knowledge, a diagnostic (1 Camshaft Position (Bank 1) Timing over advanced or system performance intermittent) and seeing metal near filter led to the conclusion that I can pay to take apart the engine--but most likely will need to replace the engine.

Outside mechanic has pointed out that the 2.0 engine tends to have some metal in the oil. How much or how big could signal internal damage. Small amounts can be "normal".

Looking for steps that could be taken before taking apart the engine? As it is less than 2 yrs. Passat 2007 (2.0 engine) ....

Passat (B5) :: Low Oil Pressure Light And Stop Warning

I let my car sit for about a month and about a quart of oil leaked out of it. I drove the car and got the "low oil pressure" light and the STOP warning!. I refilled the engine with oil but now every 5 minutes or so i get the stop warning and then i turn the engine off. If I wait I can drive the car another 5 minutes or so before the warning light goes on. What could be wrong?

Passat (B5) :: Oil Pressure Light / STOP Indicator Came On

I was on my way to celebrating my 10 year anniversary this weekend, when the oil pressure light began to blink, the warning buzzer sounded, and the dreaded STOP indicator lit up on the dash. I pulled off of the highway immediately, luckily I was already near an exit, and turned off the car. I called my dealer and told them what had happened. They advised not driving the vehicle, so I had it towed to a local mechanic. We left the car at the mechanic, and rented a car in order to proceed with the anniversary celebration.

I was debating about how to handle the car situation. Should I pay to have the car towed to the dealership to investigate, or attempt to drive the vehicle 45 miles home. I decided to change and inspect the oil, fill with Castrol Syntec 5w-40, start the car and idle for a few minutes and check for any indicators. Everything looked ok. The oil that I drained out looked fine, as it hadn't been that long since the last oil change. No warning indicators. So I decided that I would head home, and if any warning lights came on, I was prepared to call and have it towed to the dealership. We made it home fine, without incident. No warning lights, no odd engine noises, no leaks, no smoke, everything normal.

A week ago, I had the latest recall handled. When I picked up the car from the dealership, I noticed that the AC wasn't as cold as normal. If you can call the normal condition "cold". I didn't think much of it until we started out for this vacation. But now that the AC isn't working, and I got the oil pressure warning "out of the blue" I am having some worries.

Questions:What should I do with the car now? Take the car to the dealership to check out the indicator light? Have them check for oil sludge? I am the second owner. The first owner had it on lease, and I think I have most of the oil change records.

It sounds like others are having concerns about the recent ECU flash. Could the new flash have changed the pressure at which the oil pressure indicator comes on in order to avoid further oil sluge/engine replacement issues? Did VW disable AC all together? What others may have found out about the recent ECU flash.

Passat (B5) :: 2004 - Stop Engine Warning / Low Oil Pressure

On a city drive <10 minutes I get the STOP Engine warning, and Low oil pressure. I pull over, and my dip stick is dry, NO OIL! My car is just over 20K miles, and we just had it in for the service less than 5 K miles ago. There was no visible oil leaks, nor was there a pool of oil in the driveway.

Had similar problem with my 02, but it had 90K miles.

Is this possibly related to the PCV issue I read in another thread? Or are my seals just leaking? I added oil to get home, and then threw in some stop leak - seal conditioner.

Passat (B6) :: 2006 - Stop / Oil Pressure Engine Off Message On Display And Ticking Noise

2006 Passat 2.0T

- Three days ago, after a cold start, while driving to work "STOP! OIL PRESSURE ENGINE OFF" came on the display and disappeared right away.
- Drove the car to work and did not stop.
- Came back home and saw "Some" Fluid leak on my driveway. I touched it but did not seem like engine oil (I am making this assumption based on the fact that the fluid was not dark, but it was oily".
- I have not received that warning after that single incident.
- I have not seen any new leaks either.
- But, when I press the accelerator, there is a ticking noise.. something like - if you put a card in a bicycle wheel.

My car is due for service. So taking to the dealer day after tomorrow. Miles: 70870....

Volvo :: 03 Xc90 - No Oil Pressure Stop Engine Safely Light Coming On

03 xc90 with 83k miles.

Its got the "no oil pressure stop engine safely" light coming on when it gets up to running temps.

I am having my mechanic drop the pan, clean for sludge and replace all the seals and O-rings.

Which O-rings need to be replaced. I read somewhere there are 5, I bought the set along with the volvo sealant but need to give exact instruction to my mechanic on which seals to replace (he is not a volvo guy) and I dont remember which ones.

Passat - Volkswagen :: 2001 V6 Cranks But Does Not Catch / EPC And Check Engine Light Come On

Recently I bought an 01 Passat with a V6. Intermittently, when I go to start it, it cranks and cranks and doesn't catch. When this happens, the EPC and check engine light come on.

Other than that it is a fine car, I'm the second owner, and it was thoroughly maintained at VW dealerships and specialist. Recently there was a new oil pan and starter put in (w/in a month--previous owners).

Passat - Volkswagen :: 2001 - Engine Warning Light On / Very Rough Idle

The 2001 Passat 1.8lT has an engine warning light on and feels like it is running on less than all four cylinders.( very rough idle) This is the first time we have seen this particular warning light and the manual suggests that it has a problem with the catalytic convertor.( 170K miles on the car) The car had no symptoms until the light came on today and the car was serviced last week. ( oil change and new tires) It seems that every time I take the car in for service something goes haywire shortly afterward.

Passat - Volkswagen :: 2003 - Check Engine Light Is On / Code Is P0778

We have a 2003 VW Passat 1.8, front wheel drive. The check engine light is on. The code is p0778. When we start the car the gears light display lights up in red for all gears . We put the car in reverse, back out the garage and when we stop, we get a bump. And we shift to drive the car moves slowly with some hesitation.

Sometimes after the car runs for 10 minutes, then turned of for a few second then started up again, the problem goes away. Before this problem started, we would start the car in the mornings, and put in "R" , and only the reverse gear would light up. (which is the way it is suppose to work).

Passat - Volkswagen :: 2004 - Coolant Low And Stop Message On Computer?

Pulling out of the driveway my 2004 Passat's computer told me there's an issue with the coolant and that I should STOP, so I pulled back in. My VW dealer has this coolant in stock (G12, red) but considering it is 7 degrees outside (or minus 14 C) I wonder whether I can't ignore the warning and drive the 2 miles rather than get on my bicycle.

Jetta - Volkswagen :: 2001 - When Come To A Stop Light The Car Will Die

Experiencing very weird electrical issues with my 2001 Wolsfburg edition Jetta 1.8T. Sometimes when I come to a stop light the car will die. I'll turn the key and here "clicks" and see flickering dashboard items. I've found if I power the locks up and down several times eventually the electric system engages again, and I can start the vehicle. Before the system engages, the locks will only slide up/down slowly or not fully. I encounter these electric issues moreso during cold & wet weather. To avoid having the car die, I'll keep my engine revved up at stoplights. I've sometimes experienced other random electric issues. For example, while driving on the freeway last week I turned on my headlights. I heard 3 loud beeps. I think a couple dashboard lights came on (not the check engine). Sometimes these beeps/lights occur just during normal driving, and almost always when I come to the next stop the car then dies. Battery has been tested and is fine. Ignition coil recall performed, still has issues.

We just did an oil change on it, added some Engine Honey.... And nothing, still clicks but runs better.

I am getting a check engine light about every 4 days. It is stupid suff like secondary air, or catalytic below efficency... Is there any way to prevent the light from coming on over these faults? I think it would cost me some serious money to fix everything it needs to keep the light from coming on. As you all know, once you fix one thing something else breaks.

Passat (B7) :: Stop Low Oil Pressure, Warning Came On

My wife has gotten this message twice in our 2013 Passat, 2.5L SE. Not sure the exact wording of the message, but something to the effect of "Stop engine low oil pressure". The first was about a couple months ago and then again this morning. Both times it was on for about a minute or less and then went off. Obviously, it is a serious issue if real. Both were cold mornings, it being winter and all. We've driven plenty of miles in between and no message and I've never seen it personally.

Oil level is good and we're probably only about 4000 miles since last oil change. Its just weird that the message goes away quickly and was about two months apart.

Passat (B5) :: 2003 W8 - Stop Oil Pressure / Airbag Fault

This morning when I tried to start my passat I got a number of errors. The car was running fine last night. I had to use all of my keys I had to get it started. At first there was a Air Bag Fault message, and the car would turn over but it wouldn't let itself run. After changing keys I got it started, however none of the gears show up on the LCD. At that time I got the stop low oil pressure light.

When I tried to start the car a third time it told me the car was immobilized. Since then I managed to get the car in the driveway, and now it starts up every time, not like it is immobilized, but I still get the air bag fault and the low oil pressure. Further the RPM's go up when the care starts but then the gauge bounces from 0 to around 1,000 when it is started, and the temp gauge is non functional. The engine itself holds a normal even idle.
