Passat - Volkswagen :: 2007 - Stop Engine Low Oil Pressure Light Comes On

The engine light and Stop Engine low oil pressure light came on in my 2007 Passat. I had it towed to the dealer where it went through inspection for CPO certification. I purchased and had maint. and repairs completed at the dealership. I am at 84,000m. It is less than two years from date of purchase--however I am 12,000m outside of the limited warranty.

Dealership has said that there is factory based engine failure. To my knowledge, a diagnostic (1 Camshaft Position (Bank 1) Timing over advanced or system performance intermittent) and seeing metal near filter led to the conclusion that I can pay to take apart the engine--but most likely will need to replace the engine.

Outside mechanic has pointed out that the 2.0 engine tends to have some metal in the oil. How much or how big could signal internal damage. Small amounts can be "normal".

Looking for steps that could be taken before taking apart the engine? As it is less than 2 yrs. Passat 2007 (2.0 engine) ....

Passat - Volkswagen :: 2004 - Coolant Low And Stop Message On Computer?

Pulling out of the driveway my 2004 Passat's computer told me there's an issue with the coolant and that I should STOP, so I pulled back in. My VW dealer has this coolant in stock (G12, red) but considering it is 7 degrees outside (or minus 14 C) I wonder whether I can't ignore the warning and drive the 2 miles rather than get on my bicycle.

Passat (B5) :: 2001 - Cluster Warning Lights Come On - A/C Stops Working?

I have a 2001 Passat GLX. On occasion (usually when it is hot) the cluster will reset as if the key was cycled while you are driving. All the cluster warning lights come on, the needles drop to zero, and the trip odometer resets.

When the is occurring it also seems that the A/C stops working and the the car will tend to lock itself and set the alarm. Well except the driver's rear door doesn't actually lock.

Passat - Volkswagen :: 2003 - Brakes Not Working When Cold

I have a 1.8 T, 2003 vw passat with 186,000 miles on it. I've had this problem for 3 years and nobody can figure it out. If I start the car and begin driving immediately I have no brakes. However, if I let the car warm up for about 2-3 minutes (maybe less) everything is fine. I have replaced the brake booster.

Passat - Volkswagen :: 2003 - Fixing Code P3081 / AC Not Working

I own a 2003 Volkswagen Passat Wagon 2.8L SFI DOHC 6cyl. I have a code P3081 I have replaced the temp sensor and the reserve coolant tank I am going for the thermostat next. I cannot get rid of this code. Also since the code started when my wife drives short distances and turns off the car it won't start again for about 15 min unless it is jumped started. To top it all off she came home yesterday and said she turned on the a/c and it worked for about 10 min and then made a lot of noise and quit working.

Passat - Volkswagen :: Manual Seat Adjustment Started Working Sluggishly

I have a 2001 VW Passat with only 75K miles. The manual seat adjustment started working sluggishly, so I took to my mechanic. I was told that the mounting is very thin sheet metal and cracked. They welded it up and it is somewhat better, but not nearly as good as new. Can't imagine that my problem is unique. Still a safety issue here - should VW have a recall?

Passat - Volkswagen :: 2005 - Passenger Side Speaker Is No Longer Working?

I own a 2005 Volkswagon Passat, and took it to my mechanic yesterday to get a sticker and my new summer tires put on. When I picked up the car, the passenger side speaker is no longer working. About a month ago I took my car to a specialist to have an aftermarket radio put in for me that I got for my birthday so I can listen to my iPod. Why my passenger side speaker is not working anymore? Does it have anything to do with what my mechanic might have messed up when putting the new tires on?

Passat - Volkswagen :: 2007 - Hole In Converter / Brakes Won't Working / Bad Exhaust System?

I have a 2007 Passat turbo wagon and my cat converter got a hole in it the other day. I drove in morning and it was just noisy otherwise fine. My wife took it in afternoon and almost didn't make it home. Could hardly make it up a hill and brakes had to be applied to floor. Anti lock would vibrate but not very responsive to stopping. Was towed to local mechanic next day and he thinks problems are related. Could the computer cause a breakdown of the brakes due to bad exhaust system? He says he can't find ant leaks in brake system. He is waiting for the cat converter to come in to replace and hopes brakes will work again.

Passat (B5) :: Heater Stop Working After Driving A Bit

Last week, temps. dropped so tried heat on `02 GLX few months out of warranty. took to dealer (concerned with locals and the VW climate control), dealer said clogged heater core, they asked if it had overheated (no), $1500

VW kicked in $500. nice weather when I picked it up, next door cold, turned on heat, but there was none. took it back to dealer, they said it was an air bubble and said they "bled" the system, and viola, had heat in 1/2 hour. Worked fine for couple of hours. Couple of hours later, again no heat.

Any clue? Did the dealer know what they're doing? Did I get ripped? Can others work on the VW climate control or is it related to the actual mechanics of the heater?

Passat (B5) :: Turn Signal Relay Work Sometimes For A Few Clicks But Then Stop Working

The turn signal lights in my brother's 2000 passat are staying lit when he turns the signals on. They work sometimes, for a few clicks, but then stop working.

1. is it the turn signal relay. It sounds like its in the middle of the dash.
2. how do you get to that relay?

Have to remove the HVAC controls? if so, how the heck do you do it?

Jetta - Volkswagen :: 2001 - When Come To A Stop Light The Car Will Die

Experiencing very weird electrical issues with my 2001 Wolsfburg edition Jetta 1.8T. Sometimes when I come to a stop light the car will die. I'll turn the key and here "clicks" and see flickering dashboard items. I've found if I power the locks up and down several times eventually the electric system engages again, and I can start the vehicle. Before the system engages, the locks will only slide up/down slowly or not fully. I encounter these electric issues moreso during cold & wet weather. To avoid having the car die, I'll keep my engine revved up at stoplights. I've sometimes experienced other random electric issues. For example, while driving on the freeway last week I turned on my headlights. I heard 3 loud beeps. I think a couple dashboard lights came on (not the check engine). Sometimes these beeps/lights occur just during normal driving, and almost always when I come to the next stop the car then dies. Battery has been tested and is fine. Ignition coil recall performed, still has issues.

Jetta - Volkswagen :: Transmission Downshifts To 1st When Come To Hard Stop

My 2004 VW jetta has 139k on it. Whenever I come to a hard-ish stop or almost-stop, the transmission downshifts to 1st and won't get out of it unless i play with the tiptronic mode selector and coax it to upshift. it shifts well and works well in gingerly driving other than in this circumstance. i took it to a shop and they say (as they always do) it needs a new tranny. I'm wondering out loud if there is some kind of mounting instability issue that could explain this. This is definitely a case of needing a new transmission. I have read a bunch about solenoids being the culprit in general shifting problems, but not this exact set of symptoms and circumstances.
