My driver's seat has developed a popping sound when I move around, especially moving forward and back. It seems to be coming from the cushion in base of the seat or maybe down in the lower part of the seat back. I remember a thread a while back about this problem but I forgot what the diagnosis and solution was. I did a search but nothing came up, maybe I just used the wrong key words, I don't know.
View 24 RepliesSo my brand new 2012 2.5 with 143 miles already has an issue. Having a single pop sound from somewhere near the drivers door, maybe the seat, or door frame? Also I think it mostly happens when accelerating from a stop. Maybe around 3-10 mph. Pretty sure its an interior thing, not drivetrain related.

View 6 RepliesPopping coming from their driver seat? It mostly "pops" when I apply the brakes coming to a full stop or sometimes after I stopped and accelerate, the seat back pops. It's intermittent and I'm afraid the dealership cannot replicate the problem when I take it in.
View 1 RepliesWhen i first got my MKV R32 it was such a great handling car. I was able to got very fast on curvy roads with not even a slight bit of skid or squeal. Now its developed this rattling and squeaking sound. I feel the bumps in the road more, i notice more body roll, and alot of vibration in the steering wheel, and what pisses me off the most is i hear more squealing on turns that i used to be able to take faster with no squeal. For example i used to b able to take this turn at around 75mph no peel, now i started peeling out at like 63. (my tires have alot of tread) when i got the car it had around 17,000 mi on it now it has 31,000 mi.
View 17 RepliesI'm a new Mk4 R32 owner in the Portland area and my driver's front suspension developed a nasty squeak on the long drive home after buying the car. When you hit a pothole or any sort of bump it makes a nasty "clink" sound under compression/rebound. It's only on the driver's side front, and it seems to be a bushing/bearing or upper mount in the car when I got it up on Matrix Integrated's lift.
Also - the driver's front spring is squeaking since the powder coating flaked off after all the miles.
Thinking of buying a cheap set of coil overs to remedy this and refresh some of the more worn suspension items. Car drives just fine too.
My 2011 Golf with the 2.5 has developed a rapid chirping sound at 55-60 mph, that varies in rapidity as I decelerate from 60 mph. Doesn't do it at lower or higher speeds. It isn't terribly loud, but noticeable. Only have a little over 24,000 miles on it.
View 5 RepliesI drive a GS450h. Now I am experiencing some rattles that irritates. It is a "tock" sound that comes from around the driver seat. It is impossible for me to isolate, but it sounds like its from either of these locations:
- Driversdoor
- Roof
- A pillar driver side
- Dashboard
It doesn't matter where if the road is bumpy or not, actually it seems to be more present on smooth roads. I removed the covers of the door and looked for anything that moved in there, but it all seemed ok. How can I check for the rest? Is there a DIY for removing the roof and A-style panels/cover?
About 3 months ago i lowered my car on FK his sports. There is a popping sound it never happened before. just started now.
When i drive straight and i let go of the gas the car kinda jerks always then the pop sound comes from passenger side.. or when i turn, then drive straight i pops. I'm thinking it might be a bad cv joint or bearings..? or i heard that the FK coils it self-make weird noises.
I just picked up a 2011 Golf TDI a week ago and so far, I love it! I have about 600 miles on it now and I have noticed that the driver's side lumbar support is very stiff to turn compared to the passenger side. It is also making a creaking noise when it is adjusted and I can feel the seat compress slightly when I put pressure on it (say, when I shift gears or move positions) and it also makes noise when doing so.
Just wondering if this is a common problem, if there is an easy fix, or should the dealer take care of it. My thoughts right now are to take it right back to the dealer and let them deal with it.
Having a fan like sound apparently coming from the gas tank, but different than what everybody is saying is the fuel pump- its not a whirring sound under the drivers seat and not while the engine is running. I have heard this a couple of times after the engine has been off a few hours of sitting in my garage, and then after a few minutes it goes away. The last time, I opened the fuel filler cap and the fan sound stopped immediately.
View 4 RepliesMy 2 week old IS 350 Ultra white/Red F sport is in the shop for the rattle that feels to me to be under the car under the driver's seat. The dealer cannot figure out the problem after a day, so is keeping my new car. At least they were able to hear the rattle.

Iv got a '12 Golf R and lately when I come to a complete stop I hear 1 single popping sound right before I reach 0 mph. It doesn't happen at any other time that I have noticed. What that could be? View 3 RepliesI have a 2012 GT lowered on st coil overs. I'm getting a popping/clunking sound coming from the rear. It happens at random times. In turns, going over bumps, straight, and on flat surfaces. I thought it might be the dreaded subframe clunk so I got the Tyrol sport deadset rigid kit and that didn't work. I have tried raising and lowering the car with the coil over adjustments and it makes the noise still. I have also taken the rear coil overs completely off two times to inspect them and all mounts both times using new bolts and retorqued to spec. Also while i had them off I have jerked and pushed on everything they are attached to see if there is any play in anything. I see no signs of anything bumping or rubbing under the back end and the sound is getting worse.
View 4 RepliesSo I've had my R now for almost 6 months now and my PSS10's have been in it since day 1. I bought the car approx 4 months used with 8200kms on it. It's now at 16600km's.
Ever since I've had it, there's been a front end suspension noise that reminds me very much of the typical upper strut mount bearing and bushing noises. It's like a popping sound.
It only happens at low speed(parking lot) but with most moves like fwd, rev, turns and straight lines. The upper strut mount bearings and bushings were just replaced < 2 weeks ago, but it still does it and just as bad.
While driving, the drive side door makes a creaking/clunking/rattle/popping noise. Its so damn annoying. It's all the time, if you roll the window down it doesn't do it as loud, but its cold out..
View 24 RepliesGot the stabilizer bar recall done in February and have been on a couple of long trips since then. No real issues until about a week ago I noticed at low speed, when turning left, and usually if there was a small bump or incline........like turning into my driveway, there would be a popping/grinding sound. It could happen at speed, but never heard anything. I go last night to install some ECS cross drilled and slotted rotors and flush spacer kit and noticed this on the left front....
Well honestly I noticed first that I needed to wash my car, just got back from the beach and it has been raining here, but is this installed correctly. The bar is bent near the top, easier to see in person and I am fairly positive this is not correct. Called the dealership and they are going to check it out Monda. The picture below is of a left front on a MK7 and it appears to be the correct.
Like the title says... Do any lowered mkvi's have any noises or popping sounds coming from your car's front suspension? The reason I ask is on my MKV R32 I had H&R springs on stock shocks and at low speed full lock turns I had a slight poping noise. Everything on the R was installed right and it only had ~3-4k miles on it when the springs were installed. After doing research it seemed like a fair amount of lowered MKV's had this noise and it was thought to have something to do with the strut bearing.

When the temperature is above 0 Celsius the bolster makes a scrunchy squeak every time I lean back, accelerate, or take off from a stop.
It would appear to be the supplemental air bag material rubbing against the foam or upholstery of the seat.
Toyota says this should be under warranty, but it has been too cold out lately to demonstrate to the service dept.
I know that I could fix it by removing the factory seat cover and tweaking the air bag placement somewhat, but this is not as easy as it sounds, potentially dangerous, and if it is under warranty, I'd prefer the "experts" to address the problem.
It's getting worse - I've looked all over the place and can't find the source. None of the other seats do it.
