Golf IV R32 :: While Driving Transmission Lunges

Nov 12, 2015

My R32 is a bit higher mileage, around 137k. Over the last year most money spent on the car has been for preventative maintenance and just to make the car ride as best it can. I keep having it happen though where when I shift in a more "Spirited" manner or if I'm in gear giving it gas and then take my foot off the throttle, you can feel the motor/trans still lunge and it's driving me kind of crazy. In the spring, I installed BFI Stage 2 motor/trans/dogbone mounts which have greatly improved everything, however, I still seem to have this movement in shifts/letting off the throttle that I can't seem to pin point. Searching has proved difficult just because of how specific it is I guess, as everything turns up either dealing with the mounts I've replaced or just being completely unrelated.

The mounts are for sure installed and torqued correctly. I had a friend look at the motor while I gave it revs, and the motor does not move much at all, as it shouldn't with the stage 2 mounts. It just seems to be when in motion where if I do a hard shift, there's a lurch and if I take my foot off the throttle while in gear, there's a decent lurch as well. I've driven a buddy's R that has way less mileage and with the same mounts, but there was absolutely no movement like in mine, which just makes me think I'm missing something else.

Golf/GTI VI :: Lunges And Sounds Like Going To Idle When Approaching Stop

My DSG is great until I drive it for a while. Yesterday, for example, I left work and drove twenty miles, mostly freeway. Then I stopped at an all natural drive thru (sonic) and when I let off the break, from a stop, it lunged and sounded like it was going to die. When I pressed the accelerator to move even more the tranny was loud and jerky still. I parked it for a few hours and when I jumped into it, she was fine once again. So it appears that it is only after driving or warming up good that it acts this way. I have an appointment Tuesday to get it looked at, but I doubt they will take the time to drive it that long and say to me, "everything is fine".

Suzuki :: 2011 - Jerks And Lunges As If It Is Stalling

I have a 2011 Susuki 250 that I am no longer driving because it jerks and lunges as if it is stalling. It takes about 15 minutes before it starts stalling lunging in equal time of it running ok. The F1 light goes on at the same time as it stalls. The stall cycles are about 3-5 seconds with the same amount of time running. I'v had it at the mechanics for WAY too long. He has transferred new parts onto my bike from another new one with no success.

Mercury - Sable :: Lunges Forward And Speeds Out Of Control

Mercury Sable 2002 When i stop at a traffic light and with my foot on the brake peddle, the car will lunge forward 3 to 4 feet and the engine will rev. On the open road the car will begin to gain speed and the check brake and traction control idiot lights come on.(The gas peddle is not stuck or appears to have any problems according to the pros.) I must to turn off the engine to stop the acceleration. The idiot lights stay on for an hour or two and go off in the driveway at the dealership. Two shops and two dealerships have been unable to find the source of the problem. This happens about every 3 to 5 months.

Golf/GTI VI :: 2012 TDI Transmission Jerky While Driving

So I've got 8400 miles on my TDI, and for quite some time now, I've been intermittently noticing the car somewhat jerky while driving. Jerky to a small extent, like the DSG can't make up it's mind as to the gear. I could be driving home at 45 or so, and I'll randomly feel a slight bump through the pedal when I'm on a flat road. I've gotten this quite a bit. Obviously I expect to feel the DSG shifting when I'm flat out gunning it, but not when I'm maintaining a speed and should hypothetically be in the same gear that entire time.

Golf/GTI VII :: DSG Transmission - Clunking And Rattling When Driving

Lately I have been noticing clunking and rattling when driving my 2015 DSG GTI. It only happens under very light acceleration in gears 1 & 2, and is far more prominent when going uphill for some reason. I have almost 16k miles and have just been starting to notice the noise recently, and think it has gotten worse. I took it in to VW and replicated the noise for the tech, and showed him the video below. He seemed disinterested, said it was normal, and that it would not be worth going in to mess around with to try and fix/possibly replace the gearbox, as this could not solve anything and create more problems.

He also said not to worry about it because I have 60k on the powertrain warranty (which realistically isn't terribly long). This sound does not seem normal to me and it really annoys/bothers me given the car is only about a year old. The dealership is going to have the regional VWOA rep in so I can replicate the sound for him and it will be his decision whether they will proceed to look into it. I am looking for thoughts, comments, any opinions on this sound. Am I crazy and exaggerating, or should what seems to be my transmission not sound like this? At 30 seconds you can hear the sound far better, and a little later on I stick my phone out the window and you can hear the rattling more clearly.

Note (this gives me a little piece of mind): I asked a sales rep to test drive one of the 2015 GTI's on the lot and when doing this up hill you hear a similar, but significantly less noticeable rattle/clunk.

Golf IV R32 :: When Driving Hard And Speed Shift From 2nd To 3rd Transmission Grind

I have an 04' R32 with about 56k on it. Here's the problem; when I drive it hard and speed shift from 2nd to 3rd it grinds just a little. It doesn't do it when I'm just cruisen grany shifting. For awhile now I've been thinking that the synchronous from 2nd to 3rd gear was going bad, till I talked to a friend with a 20th GTI who said that the 6 speed trannies will start to do that, and there's really nothing you can do about it. Is this true that I just have to deal with it or can it be fixed?

Camry :: Engine Will Rev Up Like Transmission Has Gone To Neutral While Driving

I have a 2005 Camry, Base, 4cyl, 190k. The last couple of weeks while everyday driving the engine will rev up like the transmission has gone to neutral. It only does it for a couple of seconds and then back to normal. There is no rhyme or reason why it does it. We bought the car brand new and the fluid has never been changed.

Camry 2012+ :: SE Transmission Jerks When Driving

So a few days ago until now I've noticed the transmission jerks as I am driving, like a slight stall and such. Could this mean my transmission is failing, I feel as if the car chokes. My car currently had 8900 miles, all highway driven.

While I was doing some reading, I noticed some people had their ECU resetted. Also my average mpg is 10 mpg on a v4.

Touareg :: 2004 - Transmission Disengaging While Driving?

Since new in Jan 04, the trans will disengage, the tach will shoot up and then BANG engages as though I put it in nuetral & then back in drive. Third time to the dealer last Friday and all they want to do is "flash". It did it again as I was leaving the dealer. I have had this happen at 55mph while passing & warmed up but bostly while cold at low speed. 1st or 2nd gear.

I haven't seen any other complaint like this but this is a safety issue.

Lexus GX 2004-09 :: Transmission Shuddering While Driving At Approx 35 Mph

2005 GX470 transmission shuddering. While lightly driving, I feel a shudder at approx 35 mph, then again at 45 mph. I took it to the local Lexus dealer to have them analyze. Would you believe I could not get it to shudder when the mechanic went for a ride-along. Meanwhile, I'll just wait until the problem gets worse then bring it back in.

The mechanic mentioned Lexus had problems with the LX a few years back with transmission shuddering, but not with the GX.

Sonata NF (2006-10) :: 2009 - Transmission Buzz After Driving For A While

I own a 2009 Kia Optima 2.4 Auto. My good friend and his wife own a 2009 Sonata 2.4 Auto. My car has around 40k and his has 50k. We both notice a very strange noise that started well over a year ago on both cars. After driving for a while, then you stop at a stop light or go through drive-thru, the transmissions BUZZ. If you put the car in Neutral or Park, the buzzing stops. Even if you put the car back in gear, it won't make the noise again until it decides to do it again. They both only do this when the transmission fluid is hot. Never does it when they are cool and have not been driven. Both cars have had the transmission fluid changed at 30k and this noise was mentioned to both dealers at the time. Both cars had transmission related TSB software updates done, but nothing changed as far as the noise. Neither car would buzz for either dealer, so they were no support. I just find this odd that it is BOTH cars. Of course they have the same engine and trans, I just wonder how many more folks have this odd ball noise. It really sounds like a power steering pump thats low on fluid. Fluid levels are perfect.

Passat (B7) :: TDI Transmission Not Shifting To 6th Gear When Driving Down The Highway

I've been noticing that my 2012 Passat TDI with 125,000 miles, hasn't been shifting to 6th gear when driving down the highway. I've actually noticed it's one gear too low even when driving down city streets. We have been experiencing extreme cold weather in Pennsylvania, so perhaps that's a factor.

If I manually shift to 6th gear, it stays in gear, but it appears that the engine RPMs are a bit lower than usual as well, but I could be wrong there.

Grand - Marquis :: 2000 - Transmission Shutters When Driving At About 50 Mph Or Above

2000 Grand Marquis transmission shutters when driving. It does it sporadically when about 50 mph or above. I read in a filter catalog in a parts store that a fluid change to a specific fluid would fix this problem as it was common in Crown Vic, Grand Marqs and Lincolns. I asked a couple of shops/mechanics and they had never heard this and was reluctant to change fuild saying that it may do more harm than good. Any recommendations?

Camry 2012+ :: Driving With ECO Button On / Transmission Does Not Get Smooth

I own a Camry SE 2012. Like a title above, driving with the ECO button on? I used to turn it on all the time, however, I've noticed something strange on my car recently. The transmission doesn't get smooth! I mean with the 6-speed auto transmission, it is supposed to change speed smoothly from 1 to 2, 2 to 3, respectively. It's like when I change from 1 to 2, the transmission is smooth enough, however, when I get to higher, it doesn't get smooth. I'm not sure if I turned the ECO drive off and it would get better or I just feel it so. My first thought was about the engine oil was not lubricated and out of date but I did maintained a week ago. It still happens on my car, but less than before.

Ford Transmission :: F350 - Driving With Hubs Locked

I have been recently told that it is bad to drive my F350 with the manual hubs locked when I do not have it in 4 wheel drive mode. There are times when plowing snow that the roads are cleared but I am still plowing driveways. I do not want to travel with 4 wheel engaged in the scenario. So I would just disengage 4 wheel and travel to next stop. Is this a bad procedure?

Toyota - Sienna :: Transmission Gears Seized At 66K Miles While Driving

I have had the absolute worst experience with my 2010 Toyota Sienna that has 66K miles. The transmission gears seized (completely locked up) while I was driving down the road, causing such friction/tension that it exploded through the top of the cover of the transmission. Parts of the transmission were falling out of the car and the transmission fluid completely emptied onto the road. This created an incredibly dangerous situation.
