Lately I've been getting this loud annoying squeaking sound from my engine bay at idle. It sounds like its coming from the belt. The car has 16k miles so i dont see why the belt would have a problem already.
View 9 RepliesSo this car has only 50k miles. It was really cold in the sierra (around 20F) and the car started making a squeaking sound. I assumed it was just belt warming up, but when I opened the hood later, I saw shredded plastic. No CEL's! Seems to run smooth.
Where this came from? Is it part of the serpentine belt system?
It has developed a weird squeaky belt or pulley sound. It starts after few seconds of start up and goes away after driving few kms. It also goes away immediately for few kms. When I spray WD-40 on generator/alternator. Once in a while the sound decreases by itself and goes away only when I press the gas pedal and comes back during idling/braking. The belt is almost like a new. The car drives great without any issue.
View 1 RepliesAbout a week ago I noticed a strange squeaking with a hint of rattle, almost like a belt slipping. The sound seems like its coming from in between my front wheels. I only notice it after I take my foot off the brake pedal after coming to a complete stop or near completely stopped, i.e. stop and go traffic. Seems loudest when I accelerate from a complete stop and tends to go away after I start moving.
View 2 RepliesI just recently purchased a 2009 Corolla S Automatic. It still runs fine, but my concern is that when I start it that there is a squeaking or screeching like a belt is not tight enough or is too tight in the engine somewhere. That and there is a rattling that sounds like a bunch of marbles bouncing off of metal or as if there is something loose that is metal and just making vibrations from the way the engine is running. It drives fine, I have no other problems. I still have amazing gas mileage and everything else. What could be the issue and could I fix it from home?
View 1 RepliesI noticed my serpentine belt started squeaking about 3 days ago. And yesterday as I was driving to work I heard a clicking sound coming from the left side of the hood, then my car started to gradually shut down and white smoke was coming from the engine. When I got to the stoplight it completely turned off, but I was able to turn it back on again to turn into the parking lot before it shut off again. When I checked it there were no visible leaks, my reservoir for my coolant was still full, and my meter never went up indicating that my car was over heating. I'm not sure what's wrong with it, but after it sits for awhile it is able to turn back on again for a while.
View 3 RepliesWhen i first got my MKV R32 it was such a great handling car. I was able to got very fast on curvy roads with not even a slight bit of skid or squeal. Now its developed this rattling and squeaking sound. I feel the bumps in the road more, i notice more body roll, and alot of vibration in the steering wheel, and what pisses me off the most is i hear more squealing on turns that i used to be able to take faster with no squeal. For example i used to b able to take this turn at around 75mph no peel, now i started peeling out at like 63. (my tires have alot of tread) when i got the car it had around 17,000 mi on it now it has 31,000 mi.
View 17 RepliesI am having this issue when crossing a bump at high speed, it only sound when the shocks de-compress and only happening in the mornings so I think it might be the piston rod inside the shocks that is "getting dry" on the night and therefore making the sound in the mourning.
View 3 RepliesWhen I come to a stop there is a squeaking sound that is difficult to localize. It sounds like a combination of a squeaky rubber bushing and/or squeaky bed springs. The volume is magnified when slowing to a stop in a quiet garage but the best I can do is localize it to "the underside of the car".
View 15 RepliesMy shifter when moved into fifth or six makes a squeeking sound. It only does it when you put pressure on the shifter to the full right of travel. I'm pretty sure that it the shifter is rubbing against some trim underneath the boot. I'm taking it in on Friday to have it checked under warranty but wanted to get member's opinion before I went in.
View 2 RepliesSo I just installed the Porsche Cayenne 18Z calipers onto my GTI. The install went great but now when I go around corners at speed there's a squeaking sound that comes from the brakes. I tried to epoxy the hub centric ring onto the rotor and grease up the outside of the hub where the rotor sits, but it's still squeaking.
View 4 RepliesSo everything is tight and aligned and all good, but I'm getting this deep squeaking rub noise coming from my front upper strut mounts, but all the bolts are tight, yet it looks like the metal ring inside the strut tower moves a little up and down when you rock the car a bit. And I can feel the rubbing vibration and movement of the mount when I put my hand on/in the strut tower while the car is rocked.

It's a bit squeaky, per se, may need to turn up audio on the video below to hear it. May need to bring her in (just did a 30k service too..)
Possibly a belt of some sort? My AC is on at startup.
Apparently the PO could hear a faint ticking initially while the car was warming up then go away after a minute, but then it went away. Out of nowhere I heard a very prominent ticking from the belt/supercharger area that doesn't go away once the car is warm. My first thought is a bit of the belt might have started peeling off and is hitting something due to the frequency of the tick, but the belt looks ok from the top of the engine bay. Tomorrow I'm going to start taking bits off to gain access to the water pump/pulley to make sure the water pump pulley hasn't started falling apart.
Ticking from belt/supercharger area. I'm pulling stuff off tomorrow to take a closer look, What would cause this?
I bought my R from Carmax about a month ago with about 26K miles on it (and, needless to say, I am in love with the car). However, after a week or two of driving, I noticed a squeaking/rattling sound coming from the front driver's side wheel well area when I let off the brake. It is loud enough for me to hear it with the windows rolled up, and it continues for several seconds at least after I let off the brake (maybe longer, but I can't hear it over the exhaust).
The rattle sort of sounds like it may have something to do with the turning of the wheel, so I thought it might be related to caliper vibration or something (not that I really have any clue. At all.). Anyhow, I took my R to Carmax to have them look at it because it is still under the 30 day warranty, and I figured I would start there before taking it to the local VW dealership. I got a call a few minutes ago from the service guy, who said the following:
"Our technician took a look at your car and determined that the sound is coming from your suspension. However, it is a normal sound and there isn't anything that needs to be fixed."
I argued with him and said that the noise may or may not be immediately harmful to my car, but it is certainly not NORMAL, and something needs to be tightened, lubricated, or replaced. He said he would have his tech look at it again.
Last week my 2011 GTI starting making the most unbearable squeeking sound anytime I drive on a bumpy or rough surface. As far as I can tell, it's coming from the interior and it's coming from the passenger seat. However, it's hard to identify the source while you are simultaneously driving.

For the past week when i go into boost I hear a strange sound, almost like a wet belt sound (everyone knows that annoying sound on old ford on a rainy day) Again it only happens when in boost. When the car idles the noise is gone.
Not really sure on where to start with this?
I've a loud squeaking sound coming from the front of the engine on cold start. This only happens when I start the engine after overnight parking . There are no squeaks when the engine is warmed up or when I start up with a warm engine.
I'm driving an 07 Camry and live in a region with hot tropical weather.

My drive belt is squeaking soooooo loud, took it into my vw dealership but they want waaay to much to fix it, and i picked it up and i can guaranty they made it worse, people want to kill me on the road because its so loud. im getting it fixed on tuesday but i need to get that squeaking gone. How to get the squeaking gone for a few days?
View 14 RepliesI have a chirping/ squeaking sound in the engine extremely noticeable on idle. It's not the actual belt because it continues the noise much after the car is heated up. Have no clue what it is, I have 145000 miles. Also when running the engine hard notice a hissing sound sort of like turbo at high rpms especially with ac on high.
View 3 RepliesI just started hearing this clicking/ticking sound about two days ago. It is definitely coming from the pulley/belt side of the motor and is more pronounced from under the car. I've tried to see what happens when I turn the A/C on and it still continues like normal. At idle its spaced 3 seconds apart with 3 consecutive clicks/ticks.
As I raise the RPM its spaced closer but still has 3 pronounced clicks that I can hear until the exhaust drowns it out. Tension on the belt seems to be good and its in good condition. The car runs better than it did a year ago with MPG actually going up a few about a week ago (cleaned the MAF, new filter, new tires).
I did have a P0103 code 2 weeks ago due to an over oiled K&N filter but I've done the work listed above since then with great results. The car runs great right now but I'm a stickler for the little details, like obnoxious noises (especially ones that are potentially bad).
