Okay new sounds suck. I just noticed a strange metal creaking and clicking both when I roll to a stop and afterwards when I take off from a light. The sound is like a suspension sound but I can't put my finger on it. I did install a Neuspeed engine control arm bushing 2 weeks ago ,can that be the weak link. I'm going to get under the car tomorrow and take a look.
View 6 RepliesMy 2005 ford freestyle (fwd) has a creaking noise when accelerating from stop and turning left but not when turning right. It's been there for a while. I had a problem where front left wheel felt loose. Replaced struts no change. Replaced left front wheel ball joint and fixed that awful feeling, but it still creaks.
View 2 RepliesThis auto has 143,000 miles on it. I recenty noticed a creaking noise from the left front when accelerating from a dead stop. The shop I have used for 15 years said that the motor mounts are deteriorating and should be replaced. I trust the guy but would like to avoid the $1,400 repair. There are no symptoms other than the ocassional noise.
What is the downside of ignoring his recommendation? What other symptoms can I expect if I delay the repair? Can this be a serious safety issue? I plan to keep the car for another two years unless I bite the dust first or the engine falls out.
I've been noticing a clicking noise when the rx comes to a complete stop and accelerating from a stop. Sounds like a sticky caliper but just wondering if it could be some other suspension issue ... RX350 ...

View 24 RepliesSo I've had this moaning/creaking noise for the last few weeks that seems to be getting worse and worse. The noise is most noticeable when coming to a stop or accelerating from a stop - once at higher speeds it goes away... but when coming to a stop or slowly accelerating from a stop, the car literally sounds a pirate ship - kind of scared to keep driving without knowing exactly whats going on...
I've completely disassembled and reassembled the rear suspension multiple times and everything is lubricated, tight and proper....
Considering Ive looked at everything in the rear - Is there anyway possible that even though the sound seems to be coming from the rear - that maybe it could just be bad strut bearings or mount in the front? And maybe there is just some funny reason (some sort of audible illusion?) why I seem to be so certain about hearing the sounds from the rear and not the front?
Not sure about hearing a creaking/moaning noise from the rear - only to find out it was actually bad strut mounts or bearings in the front or maybe even bad front LCA bushings? I'm just a little lost and really unsure of what else could be causing this ridiculous noise..
On the drive home tonight, I noticed a clicking/ ticking sound coming from the car when accelerating from a complete stop. I would accelerate slowly enough to keep the vehicle in EV mode for the duration of the acceleration. Not sure if this is normal.
View 2 RepliesHow to diagnose this creaking/clunking noise in my 03 Jetta TDI. It's only coming from the passenger side, and I primarily notice it at low speed on relatively uneven roads. I can replicate the noise by pushing up and down on the front passenger side corner.
For context, this started after I just recently replaced my front and rear suspension, plus some steering parts. I replace all four struts with Koni yellows, front CA bushings (with R32/TT), ball joints, tie rod ends, front strut bushings and bearings, and passenger side CV axle. In response to the noise, I also just did the front sway bar bushings, which definitely needed it, but didn't change the noise. I also removed the CV axle and re-greased the inner CV joint--to no avail.
Also, when I have the hood open and push up and down on the front of the car, I can see the cup where the top strut nut goes into will go up and down separate and apart from the body. The driver's side stays in line with the body when I try to the same on that side. Also, that cup is tight on the passenger side, whereas it will spin fairly freely on the drivers side. So, this has lead me to think that perhaps I didn't torque either or both of the top or inner strut nuts on the passenger side.

Quick question : I just noticed a strange "creaking" or "squeaking" coming from my front suspension when I turn the wheel back and forth - while having the car at a stand still in the driveway...
I'm assuming my Strut Mounts (bushings) and/or Strut Bearings have gone and need to be replaced? As the creaking sound really souds like it could be the rubber bushing buckling?...
I just want to be 100% sure this is my issue before ordering the parts. Need to confirm that this noise I'm hearing is bad mounts or bushings? Or is there something else I should take a look at before ordering the parts?

I have a 2011 F250 6.7 Turbo Diesel I recently purchased. I am hearing a noise when accelerating from a stop. The only time I'm hearing it is when the window is down. The noise sounds like someone is tapping an aluminum pop can. It is easily reproducible as well. I decided to get under the truck and have my wife toggle the transmission from park to reverse. They noise does not occur unless one foot is placed on the brake and the accelerator is lightly pressed. (My wife had the opportunity to run me over and claim it as an accident but lucky me she decided not too). Below is a video. I had a hard time locating the noise. It sounds like it may be coming from the exhaust or drive shaft. The drive shaft does not spin when toggling from reverse to drive but the ticking noise can be simulated and heard when lightly pressing the gas while holding the brake. Something need lubed somewhere?

So I've recently dropped the car with ST coils and during the install, I had the mechanic installed NEW strut mounts and strut bearings because I've heard people having noises if they only do the coils.
However, even with the new strut bearings/mounts, I would hear clicking noises at low speed going in a out the parking spot or parallel parking (not every time but getting close). Therefore, my questions are:
1. If strut bearings/mounts are new and put in at the same time as the coils, what other reasons could there be that's causing this clicking noise?
2. If the noise doesn't bother me and I can live with it, would there be any negative effects for not having this issue taking care of?
I have had my car a whopping 3 weeks and I noticed a weird click. Was driving my car today between two concrete walls with the windows down, and accelerated in 3rd into a little bit of boost and noticed a click-click-click rapidly as I accelerated. As I let off the gas, it slowed down and stopped. The car is stock, and it doesn't sound like any type of spooling from the turbo itself.

I have been enjoying my PP GTI from the time I picked it up a month ago but have recently started noticing a noise that comes from the rear suspension AFTER braking to a stop. Basically, whenever I come to a complete stop and the car SETTLES (not while its breaking, but after a split second after it comes to a stop) on the rear suspension, I get a very noticeable clunk. This also does not just happen with hard stops from speed, it happens also when i creep forward and stop suddenly and the car's rear end settles.
I have thought about what it could be and I have come to two potential conclusions: 1) Break slap caused by the pad settling back into the holder in the caliper but it seems like its making too much noise to be just that. 2) This is related to the dreaded rear suspension noise issues that our friends in Europe have experienced. Relating to number 2, the car does seem abnormally loud when going over rough roads here in Detroit. It doesn't necessarily clunk or rattle but you can definitely hear the shocks working. This seems abnormal to me being a brand new car (my first in fact) which is why I am afraid it could be the shocks/top-mounts.
I recently noticed a clicking sound from the front end of my R when I first let the clutch out and begin to roll. It ranges from a single click to several clicks in a row. It's loud and very noticeable and is happening more and more often now... Almost every time I start moving from a stop. What this is?
View 19 RepliesI recently purchased a 2012 Golf Sportline 2.5 auto. I also currently own a 2006 Jetta and 2008 Rabbit both 2.5 automatics. Both older cars run and drive great with this engine and tranny combination for me. However with the 2012 I really notice a throttle delay when accelerating from a stop and a very early shift into 6th gear when in the gear selector is in drive mode causing engine lugging. Shifts into 6'th at 60 kph doing 1100 RPM.
This I find is very annoying compared to my other two VW's which have better throttle response and shift a little later into 6'th allowing the engine to turn at 1400 RPM allowing for better acceleration without having to kick it down a gear.
I have taken it back to the dealer hoping for a ECM flash update but nothing is available from VW and my vehicle ECM has all other current settings and updates. I ve looked into aftermarket solutions such as the Sprint Booster which allows for a more responsive pedal but based on my other VW's my 2012 should not preform like this.
I just have a couple questions. First one I have a creaking in my front suspension when I go over bumps if I'm doing 50+mph it isn't heard anything slower you can hear it especially over speed bumps in parking lots. What could that be exactly? And also I'm looking to upgrade my headunit already got a single din but I'm wanting to replace the factory subwoofer. Can I replace it with a low power 8" aftermarket sub for better sound?

View 4 RepliesSometime back I had posted that I was getting a minor creaking noise which occurred mainly when I was slowly making right hand turns. At that time the conjecture was it was caused by the mounting tabs (used when the car is assembled) on the rear suspension. The solution was to drop the suspension and file off the tabs. But then I saw at least one other post that said the cause was something else.
Well the minor annoyance has become a major annoyance since it has gotten progressively worse. Before I resort in taking ot to the dealer I'd like to see if I can figure it out and fix it myself. But before I tackle that job I thought I would ask others who had this problem what it turned out to be.
So I have the creaking noise on my front suspension. I'm going to replace, but I'm leaning toward not doing OEM ...
