Honda Hybrids :: Battery Starting To Die?

Aug 8, 2010

I found an article that said Honda is updating the Civic hybrid to discharge the battery less deep and run the gas engine more for AC usage. The goal is to prolong the HV battery and it is making owners worry about loosing some MPG. How deep Honda BMS allow the battery to discharge (before and after update)?

Honda Hybrids :: Check Gas Cap Message Appeared At Quarter Tank

This is the msg I get from my 2007 civic hybrid, "Please check gas cap".

I checked the gas cap and it is as tight as can be. The car was working fine this morning (I use that word loosely, it's a POS), and then after I get off of work, the message shows up. I'm at a quarter tank right now, so I'll fill up tomorrow.

Honda - Odyssey :: New Battery - Car Starting After Several Attempts

Just got a new battery for my 2002 Honda Odyssey on Friday. I did not drive the car Saturday or Sunday, Monday morning it faintly sounded like it would start but then would start clicking. After several attempts it started. I drove about 3 miles to drop my kids off at school and it started right up when I left the school. Should I take it back to where I got my battery or will it be fine if I don't let it sit for days without starting?

Nissan Hybrids :: 2007 Altima Engine Won't Start ECM

My 2007 Nissan Altima Hybrid has had this recurring problem since I purchased it used and I learned the original owner had the same recurring issue and other owners on the internet also. Typically when I go to start my car in the morning, after my car has sat in the garage over night, I depress the brake and the ignition button and **ALL** the warning lights come on including the EV mode ready and Service Engine light but the car has no power steering and the gas engine won't start at all. The car is drivable for about 30 seconds in EV mode then dies. When the car is at the dealer the car starts fine and they can't replicate the issue but find the following DTC's: UOO73, UO100 ECM 211, UO100 ECM 530, UO123, UO124, U0126, U0129 BRAKE 220, UO293,UO131 EPS 433, UO121 EPS 434, U1020, U1022. Nissan replaced the hybrid battery, the hybrid harness and the main car harness and now they say there is nothing more they can do to fix the problem. The problem remains. Have you had the same or a similar issue?

Accord :: 2000 Honda V6 Cranking But Not Starting At All

My 2000 honda accord v6 wont start (150,000 miles). It feels like its cranking over just wont go anywhere from there. So it doesn't seem like an starter issue or battery issue. It has done this to me in the past a couple of times but after letting it sit there for a bit it started back up. The weather hasn't been an issue on the times it wanted to start or not start. I know a oil change is due and

The EGR valve needs to be cleaned/replaced but could those things make my car from not starting? When i put the key in the car and turn it to the II, the Maintenance required light comes on and the light for the key just keeps blinking.

Honda - Accord :: 1996 - Not Starting And Oil Leaking

I have a 1996 honda accord. I recently took it into a shop because it wouldn't start and was leaking oil. They replaced the battery cable and told me I needed an axle. I then have an oil leak, and my car will still not start. I take it back, ok, they said I need an oil pan. I get the oil pan and had to take the car back 2 more times because it was still leaking oil.

The one time they put on a gasket and the next an oil drain plug. Two days later I get home and my oil light is on. There is oil all over my driveway and it is leaking everywhere. Bigger than any previous leak. They pay to have my car towed to the shop and call me the next day to say the seal fell out and this is a common problem with the 96 accords. I need a timing belt kit. They told me there was no way to notice this oil leaking from this component. Is this an accurate depiction, or am I getting the run around?

Honda - Accord :: 2001 - While Starting And Stepping On Gas Car Not Going Anywhere

I have a 2001 Honda Accord (LX SEDAN 4 DOOR, 4 CYL). Am a bit paranoid after reading online about all the transmission problems people have with this car. The other day when I was starting up from the stop light it had a moment where I was stepping on the gas and it felt like I was in neutral-- not going anywhere. This is the only time it happened and it was only for a few seconds.

Wondering if you think this is the sign of an impending transmission failure or whether it just needs some kind of maintenance?

Prius (Gen 2) :: 2007 - Low Battery After Starting Up And Driving Away

Recently I've been noticing that shortly after starting up and driving away, my battery indicator on the console is reading at half-charged. It doesn't seem to be all the time, but I've been noticing it more and more lately. This morning in particular, as I was about a couple blocks away, I noticed that the indicator was only reading 2 purple bars. I drove around a bit extra than I needed to, and the battery did get up to fully charged.

Are my batteries dying? Do I need to be concerned, or am I being paranoid?

2007 Prius 105K miles. I purchased it just over 2 months ago with just under 100K miles.

Honda - Cr-v :: Sometimes Hesitates To Start And Twice Now Has Stalled Seconds After Starting

My 2004 CRV sometimes hesitates to start and twice now has stalled seconds after starting. When driving it feels as if it is dragging, like the brake is on or the car is in wrong gear (automatic). I just got a new battery a month ago. Mileage is 197K. I am told it could be the starter or alternator and that it will be costly. Could this be the problem or could it be something else?

Honda - Cr-v :: 2007 - Intermittent Starting / No Sound And Does Not Turn Over

My 2007 Honda CR-V has intermittent starting problems. It doesn’t matter if the engine is cold, warm, or hot, time of day, or weather conditions. The car makes no sound and does not turn over when you try to start it. The idiot lights come on but no indication of the problem. The dealer “thinks” it’s the starter but not sure. They won’t replace the starter (#600.00) unless they are absolutely sure that’s the problem. The dealer waived the $150.00 diagnostic fee and concluded the vehicle is ok at this time. They started the vehicle 20 – 30 times without a problem.

Dealers notes on service report were: “Performed GRB electrical system test. The battery, starter and charging system all passed. They checked the A/C relay and is OK. Checked battery and starter connections and they are all ok. Warmed engine to normal operating temp and checked ECT voltage with HDS AIT is reading .6 volts which is in spec. Vehicle is ok at this time”.

Civic - Honda :: 2006 - Inconsistent Starting / Turns Over After 2 To 3 Tries

Honda Civic ( not a hybrid) with 137k miles has had inconsistent starting issues since last Spring. I had a new battery installed in March of 2014, and it still had inconsistent starting issues. It acted as if it wanted to turn over, and then finally would after 2 or 3 turns of the key. Some days it started just fine, too. The mechanics that replaced the battery said that they battery was fine and then they could not find any issues.

It still continued and I brought it to a different mechanic after a jump 6 weeks after the new battery was installed. They put a new starter in, and said that the seams or seals were worn and drawing too much power from the battery. That starter was replaced in May. Once again, and over the last couple of days the car is not wanting to start. It is cranking, but takes 2 or 3 turns of the key. Sometimes it has started just fine, and it started for the mechanics just fine this morning.

Simple things I've ruled out: regular oil changes, a full tank of gas, not sitting outside in cold weather, and not sitting for long periods of time. An idea is that something might be drawing a current from the battery while the car is off.

Honda - Cr-v :: Sluggish When Starting / Clicking When Ignition Turned On

Yesterday I went out for a few errands, but noticed the car was a little sluggish when starting. So, when I got home, after I turned off the ignition, I tried to start the car again. Just clicking and then nothing. Did that a few times and then just gave up. This morning I decided to try again. At first, just clicking, but then I started to pump the gas pedal and it started fine. I want to have it checked, but what to expect at the repair shop.

Honda - Accord :: Ambiguous Starting / Little Crank In First 2 Attempts

I have Honda Accord 2003 with 114000 miles on it. All of a sudden it started acting goofy while starting. It didn't start for first few attempts, there was little crank in first 2 attempts. After 3 attempts, I waited for 1 minute and started and it started immediately, just like a new car. This behavior only happens if it gets cold (Florida weather cold) or I let the car sit for 3 days. I left my car at the dealership 3 or 4 times. They couldn't replicate the issue.

I changed the sparked plugs and got my fuel injectors cleaned and also replaced a gas pressure pump. I even got it towed and once car got at the store it started on first attempt. I asked them to change the air filter. Since then its working fine but during start up when I turn the key to start, it feels like car struggles to start but it always start on first attempts. Dash lights, Radio, Wiper and everything works fine on ignition.

Civic - Honda :: 2008 - Open Window Keeps Car From Starting?

My 2008 Honda Civic has been failing to start intermittently. When it is put on a charger or jumpstarted it starts right up. After this happened a couple times I realized it only does this when I've left a window open. It doesn't matter if it's cracked or all the way down. A week ago I left the window cracked, went into my apartment for 15 mins and when I came out the car wouldn't start.

Any guesses as to the cause and whether I'll have to produce and surrender a firstborn child to get it fixed?

Honda - Accord :: Hard Time Starting When It Is Hot And Humid Out

Last summer and this summer I have had a hard time starting my car when it is hot and humid out. In the winter or on cooler days it starts right up, but on hot and humid days I have to crank on it for a while before it will fire up. Sometimes it will start up right away on these days but die immediately, then I am stuck sweating my butt off in a hot car while I crank on it to start.

What this might be? The Honda dealer was of no support, they tried to sell me a new starter and battery (it is turning so I know they are not the culprits.) When I finally got someone at the dealer to listen to me, he suggested a fuel relay, a sensor,r something else I can't recall. But in the end he said they would just be changing out all of these until one works, at my expense.

Ignition - Honda - Odyssey :: 2012 Not Starting / No Noise At All

I just purchased a used 2012 Honda Odyssey with 88k miles. After not driving it for two days I went out and tried to start it. The powered side doors were working just fine, and all the gauges and indicators seemed to be fine and the power locks worked, but it did not start. There was no noise at all. It was as if the car didn't realize I had turned the ignition. I tried a few times, waited for a few seconds, tried again, and the car started like there had never been a problem. When it started, it wasn't weak. It started like new. The problem sounds a lot like mine [URL] .... except that it then started for me. We have been driving the car for less than a week, and as mentioned, I didn't drive it at all for two days, but it has had no problem starting any other time.
