I have a 2009 Hyundai Accent. My battery light and seatbelt light comes on when I'm driving at low speeds (below 20mph) and my A/C is on. FYI my A/C is an after-market unit. Do you think my A/C could have been connected incorrectly and is draining my battery?

The battery warning kept coming on while I was driving, took it to Hyundai dealership and they said the alternator had an issue and they replaced it. The day I brought the car back from the dealership the warning popped up again, took it back to them and they kept my car for a week and finally told me there was an issue with ground.Its been a month and I finally thought it was resolved until 2 days back it popped up again. I don't know if it makes any sense but the warning showed when I turned on the heater and the rear defroster on. Once the warning light came on, now even if the rear defroster is not on my battery warning light comes on. It doesn't show up every time I start the car but frequently. Sometimes when the warning light is on the rear defroster does not work. What could it be?
View 2 RepliesFor the past 3 weeks or so (ever since it really started getting cold, highs in the 50F range or lower ) I've been having an issue where my seatbelt light on the dash will randomly light up and blink for a few seconds. I can find no rhyme or reason, it didn't appear to be linked to a loose buckle, or me going over bumps, or anything at all related to what my searches came up with for 'Seat belt light' on google and here on the forum. I had almost given up hope until a new symptom appeared.
A little less than 2 weeks ago I noticed that my battery light would also blink, very briefly, also seemingly at random. It could happen while sitting at a traffic light, or while cruising down the road at 60mph. Again, no apparent rhyme or reason. HOWEVER, every time the battery light would blink, even for a split second, the seatbelt light would then blink for about 6 seconds.
For clarification, I have seen the seatbelt light blink without the battery light, but I've never seen the battery light blink without the seatbelt light immediately starting to also blink.
So now that the battery light and the seatbelt light appeared to be linked, I figured that either my alternator or battery was giving out so I went by the auto part store to have them test it. Well, according to their fancy doohickey both the battery and the alternator are fine, but the battery was low on charge.
Well, I did some testing on my own with a multimeter attached to the battery and while the battery does still read low (~12.5V), it doesn't sag under load with the engine off and the alternator appears to be putting out the appropriate ~14.2V expected.
So I am now at a loss as to what to try. I've checked all the electrical connections I can get my hands/wrenches on and they all look good and tight with no corrosion. I'm almost to the point where I'm going to buy a new alternator and throw it on.

I have a 2009 Hyundai Accent with about 90,000 miles. I bought it with 30,000 from a dealership that had been using it as their "loaner" car. Don't know if the brakes were new when I got it, but let's assume they were.
The brakes have been squeaking since Day 1, especially when first driving. In the first few years of ownership I took the car to several different mechanics, convinced my brakes needed replacing. Was told that no, I had tons of life left on them and the rotors were in good shape. Each time they'd clean the dust off them and I'd be squeak-free for a day or two. After a few years of ownership, when it rained and I'd start driving my brakes would be SO loud and an almost-grinding noise could be heard. Not only that, but sometimes after a rainy night when I first braked, the car would almost lurch when making a stop. I honestly thought I had been lightly rear-ended the first few times it happened. Asked multiple mechanics to check the brakes and was told everything looked fine.
Now, I've put nearly 60,000 miles on this car. I still haven't replaced the brakes because each time I bring it somewhere to do so I get told I don't need it. I can't believe that brakes with 60,000 miles on them have any life left, but multiple mechanics say otherwise. The most recent mechanic attributed the lurching to moisture in the ABS. Seriously, what could be going on here?
I'm about to tell my mechanic to replace both my brakes/rotors next week no matter what, but it would be nice to know possible causes to my issue. I drive my toddler around daily and I just don't trust my brakes. One brake failure will be one too many. On a side note, this, coupled with low MPH, no power, and a transmission I feel is slowly on a death spiral.
The battery warning light keeps coming on, stays for a bit and goes off.. not an everyday thing..I took it to the dealer and they said alternator is the problem, had it changed today and while driving back from the dealership the light came on again. What could it be?
View 6 RepliesMy sonata has started having issues on the highway at speeds ~65-75 mph. It will start vibrating, a little at first and gradually getting worse. As this happens my brake pedal seems to be more firm and touchy rather than soft and needing more pressure to stop. The vibration can be felt in the steering wheel and the floor as I drive. This has happened twice so far, with a gap of about a week in between incidents. What should I get checked out?
View 5 RepliesMy 09 Matrix passenger seatbelt/Airbag Alarm light started to come off intermittently a few months ago. It often came off in a cold morning (when temperature dropps below 40F) after driving for 30+miles. I have taken it to a mechanics and they found an airbag code. They cleared the code but cannot find the root cause. I saw from some online forum that it happened to a lot 05 Matrix and repair involves replacing the clock assembly eventually. It seems to be odd since it only happened to me when it is cold and after some driving. I suspect that it has something to do with the battery since the battery output voltage may be the only thing I can think of that can be temperature dependant.

Tonight on the way home, driving in light traffic, roughly 45-50mph seatbelt light came on and began to chime. I was wearing my seatbelt at the time, and had nothing in the passenger seat. When approaching a stoplight, the light went out and the chime stopped upon braking. I am going to take it in tomorrow to have it checked, but am assuming the dealer will find nothing. I looked under the dr. seat and there wasn't anything that could have pulled on the wiring.
So again, briefly:
During light traffic with seat belt buckled properly, seat belt light illuminates and chime starts. Upon braking for stop light the seatbelt light went out and chime stopped.
This is kind of a big deal to me because this is my wife's primary vehicle and the airbag will not work with the seatbelt light illuminated.
I have a 2009 Hyundai Accent which pops out of gear when I am driving in 4th or 5th. This started 2 months ago, in 4th, but happened in 5th while on a trip from Maryland to Michigan July 30. I took it to the 1st Hyundai dealership and a sales rep drove it and confirmed the problem but said it was safe to drive if I kept my hand on the gear shift and held it in gear. After a while of driving I could not even hold it in 5th, and I drove all the way from Ann Arbor to Baltimore with it in 4th, my hand holding it in gear all the way.
I drove immediately to the dealership where I bought it, and the "mechanic" did not experience the pop out. On the way home from the dealership, it popped out 3 times in a 12 mile trip. I took it to another dealership, same result. I am not comfortable driving this car, especially since I have to keep one hand on the wheel and one hand on the gear shift knob if I am in 4th or 5th. The car is still under warranty.
I have a 2009 Ford Escape Limited with 3.0L. When Idling the Battery Light will turn on and stay on and when driving above 45Mph the light will turn off and then turn back on several miles down the road. After taking the car to Autozone and having the Alternator and Battery checked, I was told that the Voltage Regulator was bad and that I had to replace the Alternator due to the Voltage Regulator is not a serviceable part. After replacing the Alternator the battery and charging system is reading 13.86v (steadily) and when idling for about 5 minutes the Battery Light will come back on. I drive about 200 miles daily and do not want to get stranded... What else could be the problem?

View 4 RepliesI have a 2009 Hyundai Accent. In the past 2 weeks, immediately after pumping gas into my car, when I start my car, its difficult to start my car and keep it running. For at least 3-4 minutes after putting gas into my tank, I have to keep my foot on the gas pedal to keep my car running. Sometimes, it will shut off. Then, after a few minutes, all is good and I can drive the car without an issue. What's going on?
View 5 RepliesI've got a 2009 Hyundai Accent, 28k miles on it, and was working fine until today. When I turn the key, the lights on the dash come on, but the engine doesn't turn at all. My battery seems to be fully charged. I checked my ignition fuses and everything seems fine. Is there anything else I could try? I'm still under warranty, but it's such a hassle dealing with those dealership types.

Or don't bother with time interval but mileage as recommended for the make and model? I'm not sure there's a recommendation for time on the make & model, I'll check sometime.

Have a Hyundai accent 2000 manual. The vehicle inconsistently stalls while driving. One day it will drive all day without stopping. The next it will stall while driving 10 or more times.
I`ll pull over, turn ignition off. Turn the key 1-2 times. It starts. Drive sometimes 5-10 minutes will stall again, sometimes will stall an hour later. Some days not at all.
What I should be checking and how to go about it. Have the car booked in to get it put on the computer, but would rather do it myself especially if its just a sensor that needs replacing.
My 2006 hyundai accent makes a humming noise while driving. it gets louder the faster i accelerate. I have checked the wheel bearing but they appear to be fine. i jacked the car up and tested the wheel by pulling and pushing back and forth at the 12 o' clock position and etc. no give in either wheel. i also held the spring and spun both wheels with no vibration. I also rotated tires back to front. when i did this noise seemed to be lower.But still there. I did hit a fallen sign on the highway going 70 mph. I am wondering if this may have damaged my tires or if it still could be wheel bearing. and there is no vibration in steering wheel or while driving. just annoying humming.

When its cold my car shuts off while driving and is difficult to remain on after starting it. When temperature is about 70 degrees car runs fine. I have tried new battery...didn't work. I have replaced spark plugs.....didn't work.

The other day my car failed, showing all the signs of a bad alternator (battery light on, lights dimming/flickering, etc.).Had a mechanic look at it and it was definitely the alternator - the bracket had even broken - as well as the battery.After replacing, though, it still has a problem with charging the battery, at least on initial start.Basically, when you start the car, the battery light comes on immediately. Hit the accelerator or drive 15-20 feet and the battery light goes out and the alternator starts charging again.
The mechanic thinks it is a wiring problem and said that would cost 800+ to fix. He suggested I just live with it. Does his diagnosis seem correct? Are there other things I should look at and/or test?
I purchased a 2009 Hyundai Accent Automatic with less than 50000 Miles. I recently had to replace spark plug connector due to rats. Now, having issues with getting it to drive in the mornings. Description;I let the car warm up about 2 minutes before putting it in drive. Once I let my foot off of the brake the car begins to jolt forward and won't stop until I put my foot back on the brake. Even while holding the brake the car jolts but won't go forward. I have to put the car back in Park before it will stop. This goes on for about 15 to 20 minutes. Then, as if there were never any problems, the car drives as it is supposed to. *I have turned the car off and restarted but the car still jolts forward until it decides not to.I have checked the transmission fluid and it doesn't appear dirty but maybe low. Would low transmission fluid level cause this type of behavior? I am on a budget and a huge transmission bill is not really something I can afford right now. But I need to be able to get to work everyday. I can't imagine that the transmission is going up when the car has less than 50000 miles on it. I've had it since the middle of January.
View 4 RepliesI know brake squealing indicates worn brakes and time to check/replace. But I notice on my 2009 Hyundai Accent, the squeal only happens going downhill (maybe uphill too, but one usually doesn't brake much there), and on non-level surfaces at times. But for most day to day driving it's level enough to not hear any squeals.
My question is what might this indicate with regards to the brakes or other components? Is it a special type of wear or uneven wear of the brakes? Since even wear would have the brakes squealing all the time I'd assume.
I'm going to have it inspected, but wanted to get some thoughts here beforehand.
