The battery warning light keeps coming on, stays for a bit and goes off.. not an everyday thing..I took it to the dealer and they said alternator is the problem, had it changed today and while driving back from the dealership the light came on again. What could it be?
View 6 RepliesI have a 2009 Accent with 8800 miles on it. The battery warning kept coming on while I was driving, took it to Hyundai dealership and they said the alternator had an issue and they replaced it. The day I brought the car back from the dealership the warning popped up again, took it back to them and they kept my car for a week and finally told me there was an issue with ground.Its been a month and I finally thought it was resolved until 2 days back it popped up again. I don't know if it makes any sense but the warning showed when I turned on the heater and the rear defroster on. Once the warning light came on, now even if the rear defroster is not on my battery warning light comes on. It doesn't show up every time I start the car but frequently. Sometimes when the warning light is on the rear defroster does not work. What could it be?
View 2 RepliesSo my 2007 Accent/Hatchback started having this weird issue the other day.
My Parking Brake/Low Brake fluid Level Warning Light will coming on while driving and then all the gauges drop down. The light goes off and the gauges come right back up. All this happens within 2-4 seconds maybe. And usual happens maybe once every 6-7 times I drive it so not all the time.
I am driving, not braking so even more confused.
Although the 2009 Accents don't have automatic running lights, since I got the car I'd just been keeping the headlights turned on. (Yes I know this will cut the life of the lights themselves but it's not a bad safety step for a small car).
This worked well of course - the headlights would come on when the car was started, headlights and parking lights would go off when the car was stopped.
I've done nothing different but in recent weeks however the parking lights have been staying on quite often - though not ALL of the time. While I can't rule out I've done some quirky thing differently that somehow keeps the lights on, googling around and searching this forum indicates that this could be an issue with a relay box which may be costly to replace but still under warranty (I'm under the 5 year 60k mile warranty still)
Now bear in mind, this isn't a situation where the headlights are turned off and stay on - it's just a change from having the headlight knob always on, but the lights would go off when the car was stopped and keys removed.
Obviously the "fix" is simply turn off the headlights when I get out of the car - but I am concerned that there's an inexplicable change and wonder if it's a sign of larger issues regarding a relay that should be addressed while it's under warranty.
I know - very minor in the grand scope of car problems but I do worry about larger electrical issues, especially since the parking light issue seems to be erratic - sometimes it goes off, sometimes it stays on.
I recently realised my seat belt warning light didn light up even if I never fasten my seat belt. When I start engine, it will blink a few times, and then goes off. And then, even if I didn fasten my belt, it still wont light up?

View 1 RepliesMy wife was about to go into work today and when she started the Accent she said it started rough and revved up two or three times and the check engine light flashed 5 or 6 times. The light stayed on solid after that but there was no loss of power, smoke, low gas mileage or vibrating or any other symptoms after initial start up. I plan to take it to an auto parts store tomorrow (the car is at her work about 20 miles away) and get the code read. What I may be in for? I'm hoping its something simple. I told her to check the gas cap just in case.
View 24 RepliesI just installed a stereo in my daughter's 2010 Accent and tapped into the emergency brake wire to disable the DVD option when the emergency brake is engaged. Everything works fine except that the emergency brake light on the dash stays on dimly after releasing the emergency brake.
View 10 RepliesI just bought this car from the original owner. She didn't take that great of care of the car. First oil change was done at 8,000 miles for example. Basically if it was broken she would fix it, but didn't do much preventative maintenance.
I just replaced all 4 spark plugs and coils since one was misfiring and didn't want to have to go back in and replace one in another few months. Replaced the AC belt a few days ago since it was cracked and worn. All other belts are fine. I drove the car around for a few hours the next day and it ran great.
Today, the check engine light flashes and then stays on. The car is idling rough at stop lights and acceleration is poor. Previously, the light came on and it was the EVAP system. Not sure which component and I was told it isn't supposed to affect the way the car drives.
I go in this week to recheck my nagging check engine light. Flashes after a warm start, then stays on. Been there once already for it, it has come on too after a cold start... Last time they said it was a very vague miss fire code.... It did shake a bit... On the plus I get to drive a nice new Elantra again.... On the down, I never want my car back after driving it ...
View 2 Replies2009 Accent GL Sport manual transmission. Battery keeps dying. 2 batteries over the last 9 months. This is on my son's car. Replaced battery and a few months later it's dead again. Had the system checked no drains on the battery, alternator work great. No fathom drains in the system. The car can set for a week before being driven. The only thing we can think of, because it's not driven every day, the little battery drains out by the systems in the car(clock, etc.). we think there's a .8 amp drain or less.

View 12 RepliesA month ago my battery light was coming on and disappeared a few hours later and I thought it was the oem battery. I changed the battery as alternator seems working fine based on scangage that i have. After sometime light sometimes comes on again and disappear. I like to fix this as this is annoying to see on the dashboard. Where else do i need to look. Checked connections they are tight and clean. Only aftermarket stuff i have is the fog light. Not sure a loose connection somewhere may cause this?

Thought maybe it was because i left the back seat folded down for almost a week, but since then i have placed it back completely into position. Disconnected the battery and re-connected it, still stays on..
I have also driving almost 200 miles with the seat back in normal position, was hoping it would re-set by now.. I recently installed a stereo system in the car, everything got hooked up to the factory stereo, and the light didn't come on for almost 2 weeks after the install.. Could it be because of the back seat being folded down?
My subs hit pretty hard, could this be enough to trigger some sensor? I have two Rockford Fosgate 12" P2 subs, powered by a RF 1000 watt amp. I've asked many Car Audio specialist about air-bags deploying from hard hitting bass, and i pretty much got laughed at every time, none of them have ever herd of it happening, and i would think by now there would be some videos on you-tube of this happening.. I cant find anything anywhere saying airbags have ever been deployed from hard hitting bass...
I've also herd moving the front seats forward and back could trip some kind of sensor? My fiance is only 5'2 and i am 6' and its our only car so needless to say the seat gets moved quite often.. I know i should go to the dealer and have it hooked up to the "code reader" .. Just don't want to look stupid when i show up..
So I purchased a 2009 Accent hatchback about 11 months ago and so far its been great. However, recently (as in the past 2 weeks or so) I have begun noticing a strange cyclic noise developing from the engine compartment accompanied with some minor vibrations. Over time it has grown more prominent. I would rather deal with this before it becomes worse (and more costly) if its a serious issue.
Some info: I recently took a trip to North Carolina (from Florida). I also recently replaced the spark plugs before I left, so they are relatively new. The car has about 37k miles. After popping the hood and taking a look, it seems as though the noise is coming from the power steering pump/pulley area. The noise seems to match the rotations. It may sound like normal engine operation, but it did not make that cyclic sound for the first 10 months, so it worries me. Perhaps I'm just paranoid.
So this morning I was going to my car and pushed the unlock button on my key FOB....nothing. Weird, thought maybe my FOB battery was dead. Opened the door with the key and noticed that my interior light did not come on. My battery is only a few months old, so i didnt think it could be that. Went to turn ignition...nothing, no crank no lights dimming..zero power at all. I opened up the hood and as i did so, i saw the lights on the interior come on. I tried to start it and it started right up. I let it sit for a minute and the car just died out. No power again. I looked at the battery terminal connections and all seemed to be ok, nothing loose etc. Then in about a minute, the power came back. Ended up driving the car to work, about 30 miles, and so far it is ok. I'm afraid of getting stuck somewhere, but i dont even know where to begin to troubleshoot. Figured it can't be a fuse or it wouldn't cycle power like that. Connections to the battery seemed ok and even when i wiggled them, nothing happened.
I have an 07 with about 115k on it.
For the past 3 weeks or so (ever since it really started getting cold, highs in the 50F range or lower ) I've been having an issue where my seatbelt light on the dash will randomly light up and blink for a few seconds. I can find no rhyme or reason, it didn't appear to be linked to a loose buckle, or me going over bumps, or anything at all related to what my searches came up with for 'Seat belt light' on google and here on the forum. I had almost given up hope until a new symptom appeared.
A little less than 2 weeks ago I noticed that my battery light would also blink, very briefly, also seemingly at random. It could happen while sitting at a traffic light, or while cruising down the road at 60mph. Again, no apparent rhyme or reason. HOWEVER, every time the battery light would blink, even for a split second, the seatbelt light would then blink for about 6 seconds.
For clarification, I have seen the seatbelt light blink without the battery light, but I've never seen the battery light blink without the seatbelt light immediately starting to also blink.
So now that the battery light and the seatbelt light appeared to be linked, I figured that either my alternator or battery was giving out so I went by the auto part store to have them test it. Well, according to their fancy doohickey both the battery and the alternator are fine, but the battery was low on charge.
Well, I did some testing on my own with a multimeter attached to the battery and while the battery does still read low (~12.5V), it doesn't sag under load with the engine off and the alternator appears to be putting out the appropriate ~14.2V expected.
So I am now at a loss as to what to try. I've checked all the electrical connections I can get my hands/wrenches on and they all look good and tight with no corrosion. I'm almost to the point where I'm going to buy a new alternator and throw it on.

My battery went dead so I replaced with new. This did not fix the problem so I replaced the alternator. It's working now but the battery light stays on. I think I still have a problem.

It has been coming on a lot more lately,with no loss of power...I do have a mass air flow code coming up with no issues as far as the car goes..no issues driving. So with a new alternator and battery put in what can be the issue?
View 4 RepliesI have a major issue the wife 09 camry won't crank nor start. It all happened after i touched the alternator and heat shield with a rachet . She was complaining about her battery light coming on and flashing so I goes out to see and noticed the ark coming from the alternator so i reached down to touch the wire while the car running and hit both the heat shield and alternator together sparks jumped off of course . I shut the running car off then tightrb up the alternator loose bolt. When I tried to restart the car it wouldn't turn over. I checked most of the fuses and now I'm lost and stuck....
