Kia - Sedona :: Transmission Fluid In Power Steering

Mar 27, 2014

This weekend I am going to replace my old power steering fluid in my 2002 Kia Sedona mini van. Every where I look on line it tells me to use transmission fluid. Is this right? When they sell power steering fluid why would you use transmission fluid? Also, which type of transmission fluid to use?

Bmw - 325 :: Transmission And Power Steering Fluid Burned

I took my BMW 325i to a local shop to have it checked out. The biggest issues that they found with it were fluid problems. They claimed that both the transmission fluid and the power steering fluid were burned and needed to not only be replaced but also needed to be cleaned with a service that they would provide for a few hundred dollars. If I didn't they warned it could damage the transmission. They weren't lying about the fluid, its old and its dark and it smells burned. My question is how bad is having burned fluid? I've done some research and I know that the actual fluid is damaging and it seems as though just replacing it doesn't quite get rid of the problem. Is there any way I can run some sort of detergent through the transmission to clean out all the burned particles or is the shops information legitimate and buying their cleaning service really the way to go?

Chrysler - Towncountry :: Poured Power Steering Fluid Into Transmission

I poured 2 ounces of power steering fluid into an automatic transmission. What a wake up when I saw gold instead of red dumping into the funnel. I then poured 14 ounces of ATF+4 into the transmission to top it off. It's been only 8,000 miles since the transmission was flushed. Should I flush now or is the power steering fluid compatible?

Ford F-150 - 1997-2003 :: Using Pump To Replace Transmission And Power Steering Fluid

Across Internet is lot of examples of using pump, usually drill pump or vacuum. It seam to me that drill pump would work good for that job. Pump that attach to battery have limited amount of power and vacuum pump is manual. Look like a excellent device for transmission fluid change. Clearly no drain screw at pan. I do not think I'm fan of disconnecting return line and live empty tranny.

Kia - Sedona :: Power Steering Sluggish / Stiffer When Starting Out In Cold Morning

We are going through probably the overall coldest winter I have ever been through. I was wondering is it not out of the question for the cold to impact the power steering on a car. I have a 2002 Kia Sedona mini van and have noticed when starting out in the morning my steering is a bit more sluggish/stiffer and then has the day wears on it is back to it's normal self. It has depending on the temps out said taken a few minutes up to a half hour or so. I have never had this issue before, but again have never had to deal with so many sub zero nights and days in winter....

I have a 2004 Kia Sedona. The clock on the overhead console and the wiper fluid pump are both working only intermittently and they alternate working. In other words, when one works the other does not. My mechanic has checked it and has not found anything obvious.

Camry :: 2010 LE Power Steering Fluid Overflow - Steering Very Tight At Low / Parking Speeds

2010 camry LE

A family member did a tune up on the car and did not realize that the power steering reservoir had a HOT and COLD min/max lines. He filled up to the max line for HOT while the car was completely cold. He also filled up with Prestone Power Steering fluid with Stop Leak instead of ATF/DEXIII.

The car was driven a few times for maybe 50 miles in total before I found out about all this and I drained the fluid out to the appropriate levels. However the steering at low/parking speeds is still very tight (tighter than what I used to remember, at least).

Did he royally screw up the power steering system here? What can I do?

Kia - Sedona :: 2002 - Vibration In Steering Wheel And Front End

Took my 2002 Kia Sedona mini van in this past weekend to have it checked out do to the vibration in the steering wheel and sever left turn in my front end when I let go of the steering wheel. Luckily I found out that it just needs an alignment really bad and 4 new tires as all four have issues. None of the four are in "dangerous" condition but need to be replaced. Problem is the cost to replace all 4 and due the alignment is outside of my budget. I can do the front two and the alignment this coming weekend and replace the other two next month. My question is will not replacing the back two impact on the alignment?

Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: Power Steering Fluid Spurting In Left Tire Well

While turning very slow and sharp on the farm, I heard a pop under the hood. I then lost power steering and brakes. I saw power steering fluid spurting in the left tire well behind the tire. Look under hood and saw fluid coming from a fitting on the side of the power steering pump. I have attached a photo....one photo with nothing and then other with a screw driver tip on the fitting.

It appears that the the pressure fitting blew out the side when I turned sharp. It has a nut from which it came (compression of some sort?). I can push the nipple of the fitting back into the nut but I guess the pressure is gone.

Camry :: Power Steering In Reservoir Going Down - Fluid Leakage

So I've been noticing my power steering in the reservoir has been going down for quite some time. Now its more noticeable than ever. Just about a month ago I topped off the tank to the "max" line and now its at the "min" line. I also notice the fluid on the garage floor. I've always had a lot of grease (I assume the fluid) all around the body and under the reservoir under the hood. It seems to be leaking from the hose where it connects to the actual reservoir. Maybe the clamp is bad or something.

Camry :: 09 - Power Steering Fluid Low Pressure Hose?

The Power Steering Reservoir has a small leak that makes the area under it looks oily and messy, so i followed a member's DIY PS flush, I used Walmart Supertech ATF Dexll/lll fluid but now I am thinking about using Mobil1 Synthetic ATF once I get the reservoir out.

The new red color shoes the leak is coming from the edge of the connection between the top and bottom plastic parts of the reservoir.

so my questions are:

1- How do i remove/pry or pop the reservoir out of its bracket?
2- Can i use JB Weld epoxy to glue/reinforce them parts together or just pick a used one from junkyard?

and last question: What size ID/OD is the PS fluid low pressure hose?

Camry :: 2006 LE - Power Steering Fluid Loss?

My wife was driving yesterday from work and suddenly felt the steering becoming hard to steer so she was able to drive home but barely made it to our driveway (very hard to steer). I saw fluid dripping down the right side of the car. I opened the hood and saw lots of brown fluid spilled all over. Power steering fluid reservoir was empty. So my question is, is this primarily caused by power steering pump failure causing spillage of fluid contaminating the drive belt causing it to slip (car overheated a little bit) or Serpentine belt failure (120,000 miles with original belt) causing power steering pump to fail and eventually leak fluid.

Santa FE SM (2001-06) :: Power Steering Fluid Disappearing

I have very good question. My 2001 Santa Fe has 200k miles, I think the car is great. Regular maintenance, and the car drives still drives strong and comfortable.

Here is my problem: The power steering fluid is disappearing. There is no puddle under the car, I got under the car and everything is dry. However about once a week (+/- 200 miles) I have to add power steering fluid. I have cleaned the reservoir twice and confirmed that the top of the reservoir is also dry ( so is not bubbling off the top of the reservoir).

I have put newspapers under the car while parked overnight to see if there is a leak and the news paper is dry in the morning without a stain.

Fluids do not disappear. Could it be leaking while driving (high pressure hose) and its leaking from a location that I cannot see? Where is the "banjo connector" that I have heard referred to ?
