I have a 2004 Kia Sedona. The clock on the overhead console and the wiper fluid pump are both working only intermittently and they alternate working. In other words, when one works the other does not. My mechanic has checked it and has not found anything obvious.

I started some troubleshooting and missed some clear indicators of the problem.
->Rear fluid works
->No pump engagement when trying the front fluid
Wasn't sure if I had 1 or 2 pumps (separate front and back or just one) so I bought one, tore out the reservoir (that air intake was a tough one), swapped the pumps and PRESTO! Still didn't work.
This leads me to believe I should have realized it was switch/power related all along. I don't mind tearing things apart, but I'm not good with electrical. Should I just buy a new whole stock and see if that works? My fuse isn't blown and seems to also be for the power windows, which do work, so I think I should be fine from that point.
The intermittent feature on my windshield wipers has stopped working. I replaced the multi-switch and it still does not work. What I can do to get this feature working again?
View 2 RepliesMy 2007 (with Nav package and aftermarket Sirius radio) recently started losing channel settings on the Sirius (not on the FM radio!), the dash clock resets, and, recently, the miles-per-gallon and miles driven since last fill-up reset to zero. These events are sporadic, but have started occurring more often. The dealer seems unable to figure out the problem.
View 8 RepliesMy 04 has a leak in the wiper fluid system, after running the wipers with fluid, the reservoir leaks and goes bone dry. The rear window never receives any fluid but the windshield receives its normal amount with no noticeable drop in pressure.
Here's the weird part, there are no visible signs of a leak. I poured 3 liters of water and watched it all drain, but there was no water underneath the car. My car is sitting on a slight decline in the garage with the nose slightly higher than the rear of the car.
I pulled the reservoir out and it is not cracked, the leak appears to be somewhere else and it seems to be collecting. I even moved the car and didn't see a puddle of water. What might be happening or where I can look to find anything? I haven't taken it to the dealer and would prefer not to....
I've been having trouble with my wiper fluid nozzles or something else in the fluid assembly freezing and becoming inoperable. It's pretty dangerous because I'm usually driving on the freeway with a lot of spray hitting the windshield and clouding the view.
Forgot to mention....this happens typically below 20 degrees and I'm using -20 fluid.
Troubleshooting the wiper fluid spray system in my 2007 Prius. So today, after the big winter storm here in New York, I had to go out and run some errands. Everything was working fine, used the wiper fluid spray a few times during my drive to keep my windshield clear. When I was about to get home, I tried to spray the windshield one last time, but no fluid came out. Also tried the rear sprayer and no fluid came out of there either. The first thing I did when I get home is to check the wiper fluid reservoir, and there is plenty of wiper fluid in there.
I can hear the pumps whirr when I tried to activate the wiper fluid spray, (tried both front and back, both have the pump whirring sounds), but no fluids sprayed out.
I'm thinking maybe something got clogged in the wiper fluid spraying system somewhere. Is this something I can try to fix myself?
When temperature is lower than 15 degrees windshield wiper fluid freezes in supply line or squirter. Is this because of the cover at top of inside of the hood? Does that cover prevent engine heat keeping the system operable at lower temperatures. We need this system operable in the mountains of CO where ice melt is spread on the roads.

When they sell power steering fluid why would you use transmission fluid? Also, which type of transmission fluid to use?
View 13 RepliesPurchased a 2007 Kia Sedona EX today for my daughter. Once it got home from the dealership we got washed out! When my daughter started the car the wiper fluid hit the windshield until it was empty and then the pump continued to run. Each time I turned off the ignition and started the van and turned on the wipers (rainy Seattle evening) I could hear the pump continue to run. Finally, I pulled the fuse so the pump would not burn up. This van is in excellent condition with only 48K miles. Am I in for electrical problems with this van or is this a fluke?

My washer fluid pump is not working, it was a few weeks ago but now it is broken. The Owner's Manual only has the listing fuse 33 for "cluster, 4x4, wipers". It looks like some of the older models have an actual fuse for the "washer fluid pump". I checked fuse 33 under the dash and it is ok. What fuse controls the washer fluid pump?
The pump does not make noise when activated, so I'm starting at the fuse but I don't know what the hell is going on.
I was removing a remote starter off of my 04 camry because it no longer worked. After I removed it i noticed that the radio and clock were not working. I checked the blue/red accessory wire on the ignition harness and noticed it looked like it had seen better days. So i decided to make the connect more solid by cutting the weak point and crimping it back together. Now I put the key in and turn it to run and I ONLY get the CEL light, the airbag light and the brake light(parking brake is engaged). I can't utilize the windows, it wont even attempt to crank, the a/c and heat don't work now. I checked all the wires in the area of the ignition harness and all are solid connection (tested with a voltmeter). I have tried to jump start the car with another car as well as unhooking the battery for 2 hours and nothing has changed. I also triple checked every single fuse i can see in the passenger compartment and under the hood and all are good. I also checked the circuit board behind the fuse panel under the dash and everything looked ok.
View 13 RepliesMy Driver side wiper arm does not seem to work well. If there is a little bit of snow, it won;t move. If it does move, it is not in sync with the passenger side. It will even go off the window.
What may be the issue? This started when my wife move the arm manual over some snow.

View 4 Replies2003 - I tried to change the brake fluid with a MityVac. I've done it to dozens of cars with no problem. With the Prius it didn't take it well as I have to pump the pedal sometimes to stop or the pedal goes way down. Only now I read about how a special Toyota scan tool is recommended to do it. Is there any other way? I only really did the front brakes since after trying one rear wheel cylinder and getting nothing out of it, I quit. The dealer wants $165 and I'm sure that doesn't include any extra shop fees and such they tack on. What other way can I try before taking it in?
View 8 RepliesI have a lexus rx 330. Pump started making noise and low on fluid. We replaced all the belts and new pump. After installing new pump it was leaking from fill cup cap when driving also making a lot of noise on cold start. Mechanic said new pump was bad so we put in another one. Car ran fine as soon as we put it in and bleed good. Following morning again a lot of noise on cold start and noise goes away about 10 minutes but again small amount of fluid leaking from cap on fill cup. I replaced the rubber ring on cap to get a tight seal but again nothing.
View 6 RepliesI got a 08 F150 with a V6. It's making a very loud and annoying noise that sounds a lot like a bad steering pump, but it's coming from the water pump. I'll be cruising at about 2000 rpm and the noise will start all of a sudden. I step on the clutch and let the rpm drop to idle, and the noise tapers off as the rpm drops and then stops completely. I bring the rpm back up, and there's no noise. There is absolutely no play in the water pump bearing, no leakage from the weep hole, no overheating.
View 2 RepliesMy 2007 Prius (151,000 miles) just started making what sounds like a scraping sound when in motion. This does not happen every time I drive it. The dealership said I need to replace the brake fluid actuator pump.
He couldn't really tell me what would happen if I don't have it fixed. He said perhaps the power brakes would go out, or maybe the anti-lock brake system. Either way, I don't want to mess with possible brake failure. But the cost of this repair is so high, and my car already has 151,000 miles. I'd love to drive it to 300,000 miles if I can, but am I being realistic? I'm wondering if it's worth investing this much money in a car with so many miles.
On my 2002 Kia sedona mini van my CC has stopped working. How do they work and what should I look at as reasons why it just stopped? I just had all the belts replaced and crank shaft sensor replaced, could any of that have played a role?
View 5 RepliesThe wiper-speed selector (aka: the little switch on the top of the right stalk) does not seem to influence the frequency in which the wiper activates on intermittent mode.
Lowest setting: 5 second interval
Highest setting: 5 second interval.
This is strange as it was working a week ago
Specifically any fuse for this function? Or is there a specific relay that takes care of this action?
