I have a 2006 GS300, just took it to the dealer as the VSC light came on and had engine hesitation. After checking them out, I was told that the engine needs to be rebuilt. I was informed that due to carbon built up on the manifold is causing the problem. How is it possible for a car with just 88K miles to have this problem? Should I had them recheck? Perhaps a sensor?
View 1 RepliesToday I notice a very hard when down shifting and later on the engine started to hesitate and stall, RPM up and down. Accelerate by itself. I was able to drive home but engine light for exhaust system fail. VW is going to tow car Monday morning. 2006 2.0t Car only has 21k miles.
View 4 RepliesA major throttle hesitation has developed in this car, that is so bad, sometimes when you put the pedal to the floor it doesn't want to accelerate at all. Feels like the car has a bout 25% power ,it seems to shift very weird also, its like the car is trying to keep the rpms very low. I am not positive but it seems to occur mostly when the car is first started and still cold or on very wet or humid days? It feels like the car is activating the traction control and the throttle plate is not opening all the way at wot?
I am using 5-20 oil. Maybe should go back to 0-20 oil. Cant imagine the sensors are picking up on extra drag from colder thicker oil at that close of a weight? No codes are showing when the car is checked out.
VSC & engine light come on every few weeks. I disconnect battery to clear. Just figured out my headlights work fine unless these lights are on. When the lights are on my drivers side dim light will not come on. Clear the codes the light works fine. 06 gs300 / 228k miles...
View 1 RepliesI just got a used GS350. At about 20-25mph, it can sometime hesitate/jerk when I am driving without much acceleration. If I press the accelerator hard, the car accelerates without much problem.
I tried searching through the forum but couldn't find same problem except maybe the LS460 [URL] ....
I have tried cleaning the MAF with CRC cleaner + resetting the ECU by unplugging the battery for 10minutes but I still have the problem. Strangely, I didn't have to recalibrate the windows after plugging out the battery, but the GPS did the long initial boot-up..
I have 08 GS350 that has been doing some big time hesitating at low speeds. Brought to dealer and the mentioned water got into the transmissions and want me to pay for a flush.(I think they should, since it's under warranty). Can damage done now cause issues in the future?

Ok, got a hesitation when the engine is cold, almost feels like a miss. Dealer could not find anything and there are no engine codes. They wanted to replace the plugs with new platinum plugs. I said did you pull any plugs, not that is what the tech said it could be. Could it be the Mass air flow sensor? Or a coil. After a mile or 2 it is fine. I switched to shell premium since dealer told me I had to get a decarbonization from using cheap gas. I used exxon regular and BP regular with a treat of premium every few tanks. But now I am on shell and they said I needed another decarbonization, This is getting rather expensive, I may go back to my local mechanic once the warranty is out. But the hesitation puzzles me.
View 2 RepliesMy 2011 stick shift no air Accent has a hesitation or stumble on light acceleration that comes and goes. It may not occur for weeks then re-occurs. It is hard to reproduce intentionally. It never occurs in cruise. The CEL is not on. Most often occurs at 1400 to 1500 rpm with slight acceleration or a slight increase in load as coming to a slight hill. I tried injector cleaner a few times and changed air filter. It seemed more reloaded to induction airflow so I changed the MAP sensor. I understand the 2011 Accent does not have a MAF sensor. It is still occurring. It is fine in steady cruise as well as in hard acceleration. I am wondering if it is a TPS sensor problem. It has 60,000 miles and otherwise runs fine.

View 8 RepliesMy wife has an 06 Mountaineer with a V8 and we have been having a problem with hesitation when the engine is placed under a load. The problem occurs most often when the transmission is in overdrive and the engine goes under a load such as driving up an incline at cruising speed. The engine begins to shudder much like a misfire but disappears when the trans kicks down a gear. The check engine light will flash momentarily but it never sets a hard code that I can read.
I have AutoEnginuity scan tool but there are never any codes. I've driven the vehicle with the scanner hooked up and there is never a misfire noted. The car has 96000 miles with, presumably, the original plugs. I'm aware of the potential problems with attempting to change these plugs. Where to look? I don't want to "hang parts" such as mass air flow or throttle position sensor. I've been hoping that the problem would progress to the point that a hard code would be set but none has yet.
My 08 GS keep showing low engine oil light on every 2 months after oil change. And I can't see any oil leaking mark under the car and ground. I'm wondering if there is any issue relate with the last recall.
View 4 RepliesI have a 2006 azera limited 63k miles on it and I'm getting a rough idle that sounds worse when the weather is cold. also when I press the gas there is hesitation from the car to accelerate. on top of that, I feel vibrations from the engine all through the driver and passenger seat. When I turn the car on it idles at 1300-1500 rpm and takes about 5-7 minutes to come down. when it does , it idles at 650 rpm. I'm not getting any check engine lights or codes. I've replaced spark plugs, air filter, had the air induction service done at the dealership, and had to have Hyundai put on a new throttle body last march when it gave out on me while at work. the dealership doesn't know what it is and said to use a fuel additive when I fill up the tank. I have and am waiting to see if that does anything. I put in a bottle of CRC 1 Tank fuel system cleaner 2 days ago. I've even changed my brand of gas from exxon to bp just in case. I think it may be a bad hose for the idle and a bad motor mount for the vibration. Could an O2 sensor be going bad?

View 5 RepliesI just purchased an l/certified 2013 RX 350 (34K miles) this past weekend. I did not notice these issues on my test drive. I've started to notice that when taking my foot off the gas pedal (while not resting near the break pedal) the vehicle goes through a series of easy coasts and then some resistance (as if using an engine as break on a truck with a manual t,) then returning to a smooth easy coast.
I've also noticed that when accelerating at a slow speed from stop (I'm in traffic) there is a bit of a hesitation, like turbo lag, yet this has no turbo. The lag seems to be there even if I want to accelerate aggressively.
I hate to get tied up with a dealer service department already.... "Cant duplicate," or "that is normal operation," or "Computer codes check out." Looking for reinforcing information so I don't have to take it in once a month for an unknown amount of time.
Of our three other cars (2015 Prius, 2002 Nissan Altima, and (pre-tran fail) 2002 honda odyssey) none experience anything like this.
Our household is dumping a 2002 honda odyssey for repeated transmission failures never covered with goodwill. All service was at a h dealership and manufacturer schedule was followed. I'm already sensitive to the manufacturer/dealer relationship.
This whole time I thought it was a bad or dirty MAF and it's not as I replaced it 3 times. Car hessitetes and throws a ESP light on so now I think it's problem with abs or brakes.

I do have a VF MAF harness extension cause used to be S/C maybe that's why the signal is low, then 2 abs codes:
-01314045 Engine control module (ECM) check DTC memory there isn't much info on this but I heard a lot of people replace their ABS control module cause VW says most have short in them but in ECS tuning they don't have one for R32 like R32 doesn't have it. Does R32 have it.
-00495 ESP - sensor unit, voltage supply
I tried clearing all the codes but comes right back followed by a hesitation.
2006 gs 300. Been driving car around and the 3 lights came on which are vsc, Trac and check engine light all at the same time. Replaced the 2 front O2 sensors but the light keeps coming on and off. When I drive the car the car hesitates to go over 25 mph.
View 14 RepliesI have a 2006 GX 470 with 130,000 miles on it. Recently, when driving on long trips I have noticed that the SRS bag light will come on after we stop after driving for a while. To be a little clearer, the car will start normally when cold, all dash lights will go through their sequencing and turn off. We will drive for a distance which will be long enough to heat everything up, say to the mall or a restaurant.
When we return to the car and I start it all lights go thru their sequencing and the SRS light stays on. Next morning, after the car has cooled, everything is normal again. Lexus says it is the 89170-60241 sensor assembly that is $489.26 plus $310.95 in labor to replace. While I have owned the car I have successfully replaced the air suspension rear sensors and all the O2 sensors and recently did an engine swap with my son on his Toyota Supra so I think I can handle the repair. Where is the sensor located and how is it accessed??
VSC, Check engine light just came on my 2006 GS300. I only have 50k miles on it. I had this happen a few years back and it was the Gas cap o-ring. This time I changed the gas cap and reset the codes but no luck. After starting the car, with a minute the lights come back on. So checked the code and here is what I'm getting:
P0031
Heated Oxygen
Sensor Heater
Control Circuit Low
Bank 1 Sensor 1
Doing a search for the code yields this: [URL] .....
Changing the sensor vs. checking something else that might be the issue?
I have a 2007 GS350 AWD with about 110,000 miles right now. For almost the last year or so it has been burning off some oil. By the time its up for an oil change, it occasionally gives me the engine oil low light. It stays on between a few seconds to a minute and then turns off.
I've been telling this to the local Lexus dealership where i've had all my maintenance done, and they eventually did an oil consumption test. They said it was losing about 1.5 liters after 3,000 miles. They say that is within spec.
This issue came up several times while i was still in my 100,000 mile warranty, but they wouldn't do anything as it was in spec. I don't see how i should get a low engine light warning every 3-4k miles and have been pushing them to do something and cover under warranty since it has been documented as an issue before the warranty ran out. Lexus corporate asked for a compression test (which i had to pay for), the results are below:
Cyc#1: 205 dry; 225 wet
Cyc#2: 200 dry; 215 wet
Cyc#3: 190 dry; 215 wet
Cyc#4: 200 dry; 225 wet
Cyc#5: 205 dry; 210 wet
Cyc#6: 190 dry; 220 wet
After Lexus received the results they asked for, they still said: well the oil consumption is in spec so won't do anything.
When at a stop light or standing outside of the car while its parked, noticed that the engine noise is particular loud? Almost sounds like a diesel truck, is this normal?
