It's now been just about 2 weeks with the new car! but I've noticed a few little things that I'll take it in for before the warranty runs out...one of them is a noticeable dull clunk in the right rear...it also hear it when i go over small the medium sized bumps on the left side...sway bar link? over big bumps i don't seem to hear it...
View 12 RepliesSo I know the 2013 GS (or many GS in general) have had complaints of squeaks and rattles. My GS has a couple but are very minor and only occasional.
I do have one noise that seems unusual though. When I am driving and drive over moderate bumps in the road, I hear a muffled clunk or thunk type of noise only from the rear passenger area and never anywhere else.
My car is a stock CPO 2013 F sport and not lowered or anything. Stock rims and tires. The shock does not seem to be leaking.
The noise happens regardless of if I am in regular or sport+ modes. Was going to mention it to the dealer at my next oil change and door trim replacement appointment I need to make Ina couple months.
I have a 2013 Hyundai Elantra that I purchased in early July, which now has around 5500 miles. Sometime within the past couple of months, I noticed a dull clunk that occurs within the first 100 yards or so of driving. This seems to happen only when the car has not been driven for a few hours (although it seems more frequent lately), and it sounds as if something has dropped from the bottom of the car, between the front seats.
View 2 RepliesI just replaced all 4 struts on my 04 Camry. The car has 87,000 on it. I went with the Monroe OESpectrum struts and new strut mounts (Monroe). Springs looked fine, the rubber spring seats were fine as well and the bellows, so reused those items.
I now have a noise in the rear end that I did not have before. It sounds like it is coming from the lower part of the car and is not metal sounding. It is a very dull clunk when going over bumps in the road and is coming from both sides.
I replaced the sway bar bushings a couple years ago. I checked those and there is no play and appear to be fine. Also checked the sway bar links and they seem fine to me, but not sure what makes those bad. Torqued what I could. Used an electric impact wrench on the strut nuts and could not torque that because the rod spins.
I am taking it in on Monday for an alignment and to have the shop see if they can figure out the noise. Is it possible that the new parts could be binding and the alignment may take care of it? I have doubled checked my work and everything appears to be on correct.
My wife has a 2013 GS350.....when she backs out of the driveway, turning at a slight angle...there is a loud pop that sounds like it is coming from the rear. The noise does not repeat during normal driving or going over bumps...just when backing out at an angle to the left. Dealer could not repeat the noise. Almost sounds like the strut brace/bar is loose or something along those lines.
View 3 RepliesI have less than 1000km on my new 2014 XTR SC. I had an AS 2.5/1.5" kit installed and a wheel alignment. There is a dull clunk in the rear when driving slowly over rough terrain(dirt roads n potholes). It happens occasionally when taking turns at lower speeds too. A friend who is a mechanic installed the kit and its the 4th kit he has installed for me. Never an issue.
The truck had to go to the dealer to have the remote start installed and they investigated the clunk and tightened up some nuts and bolts and its still there. They blamed the leveling kit and said its normal sometimes. This is definitely not normal! I've searched and can't find anything.
I recently bought a CPO 2007 GX 470 with 110k miles. At no charge dealer made repairs re the Bulletin about clunk in rear when I slowly drive over speed bumps. Had all front and rear shocks raced with OEM shocks, and four new Michellin MS2 tires installed. Rear end still feels like is is bottoming out sometimes during regular local and freeway driving when going over different times of road bumps.
My 'i89 a Dodge Ramdharger ( only car I ever bought brand new off the lot ) with 174k miles and old shocks and original springs drives better over bumps and speed bumps than the GX. One Lexus dealer said the reason is because the rear air bags ( that are not leaking )do not fill up fast enough when going move bumps and that can cause the bottoming out feeling. My mechanic is going to check it over again. What could be causing the bottoming out feeling?
I haven't been needing the A/C til recently due to the heat. When I have passengers in the rear and the A/C is set to just be body flow ( vs. body and feet), the rear blows but is noticeably weaker than the front. When I set it to both body and feet, the rear vents don't have any body flow and it is the same flow as when the rear is just set to feet. I went thru the manual and there doesn't appear to be anything incorrect (I am not in S mode) but the rear is just very weak in general with the controls on full.
View 5 RepliesI am the new owner of a 2007 Lexus GS350 and I absolutely love the car. 70k miles and it has been well taken care of by the previous two owners. The question I have is regarding a strange subtle jerk when coming to a stop. This seems to be the most intense with a medium force stop but I can also feel it when coasting to a stop. It happens frequently and sometimes is less harsh than other times. I noticed it right after picking up the vehicle but I didn't really pay much attention. After driving the car for 2 months I notice it more. The jerk seems to be happening during downshifting and is at about 15 mph every time. It's not extreme but passengers typically notice it if I point it out. Then they can feel it every time it happens. The other shifts are smooth including accelerating and so forth. I reset the ECU (pulled the ETC and EFI2 Fuses) about two weeks ago but haven't noticed a difference in shifting.
View 14 RepliesI've had this problem for years but is now getting worse. It used to only happen when it was really cold out, subzero, but is now happening as we now approach 50 degrees out. If I hit a pothole or pop over a small curb, I get a clunk in the rear. I replaced the shocks about 3 months ago which seemed to work briefly but the problem is back and is worse than ever.
I have the original springs and it looks like the recall was done by the previous owner (rubber bumber stops installed).
230k miles. Do I need new springs?
Friend of mine (whom I referred to Lexus) just bought. 15' GS on Friday. Friday night on the way home from the dealer (1 1/2 hour) he hit a 220-250lb 6-point buck/deer on the back road sometime after midnight, not even 3-4 miles from home. He is wondering whether or not insurance will total car. From the looks of it i'm hoping so too and all airbags have been deployed except front right passenger side. I would hate to take a brand new leased vehicle that never even made it home after repair.
View 14 RepliesI've had my 2013 GS350 for less than a week , but one thing I've noticed (compared to Acura) is that when I first start the car, the idle seems very high. This lasts for 5-10 mins, then seems to come down and becomes much quieter. Is that by design to get the engine warmed up sooner? It seems overall the idle is a bit higher and louder than I'm used to.

I have couples questions.....
1. What kinda light build does BMW n Mecerdes use? I noticed the color is much brighter and white/purples. (I like bright light. My wife 2nd Gen GS had 6K HID for both Low/High beam.)
2. Where I can get the foglamp install professionally? OEM parts and all.
Just bought a 2013 GS 350 FSport. Noticed the cooling fan runs kinda loud. Seems to run a little louder than prior cars. Had the car inspected at a Lexus dealer before purchase. They didn't say anything about it.
View 4 RepliesGS 350 AWD. I use the plastic pipe attached to a tube for draining. Worked fine the first few oil changes, but now it won't drain. The only way I can get it to drain is to leave the pipe attached and very, very briefly start the car and then turn it off. Then the oil pours out as it should. This happened the last time as well. I'm now at about 40,000 miles.

How to remove the door speaker grills on a 3rd Gen IS or a 4th Gen GS350 (without removing the door panels)? They appear to have the same 7" black plastic grill between IS and GS model.
I tried to pop them off with my fingers but it wouldn't budge...my finger nails bent halfway back though.
My brother just bought a 2014 Avalon and he is selling it to me for next to nothing. I am planning to use them for my 2014 Lexus GS 350 RWD Luxury package as a winter tire setup. Will these wheels fit?
View 14 RepliesI've owned Acura's for 15 years total and now own my first Lexus. Loving it so far. Just bought a used 2013 GS350 luxury package with only 12,000 miles believe it or not. Spectacular condition. Loving it so far after 4 days!
Quick condition, is there a way to permanently display the digital clock somewhere on the nav screen or is the analog clock the only option? Not a big deal, but prefer digital clocks.
I just purchased a new 2016 GS350. Traded up from a 2013 ES Ultra, which I loved. Love this car even more, from a sportiness perspective. Question to other GS owners. I've noticed a rough noise, or rough idle, when starting the car first thing in the morning, or after it has sat for some length of time. My 2008 ES sounded like that, as does my 2010 RX. My 2013 ES never sounded that way and my service advisor said they changed something in the engine or transmission in the ES. My 2013 purred when it started and never stopped. It was silky smooth.
The new GS just sounds rough for about a minute or so and then smoothes out. Of course, I asked about it and was told everything was normal, which is the standard Lexus comment. Said it sounds that way until something or other warms up or something like that. Im still trying to get used to the different drive and acceleration patterns of the GS vs the ES. Overall I love it. It's just a richer vehicle all the way around. Just curious about the idle. Is it normal?
I have a 2016 GS 350 with the Luxury package so there are quite a few adjustments for the seats which is nice. However, every now and then, the memory positions I have programmed go away and I have to be in Park and select the memory positions again. I turned off the easy exit option because every now and then the seat would just go down to the floor on its own. No one else has been driving the car.
I go into the dealer for the 5,000 mile check up in a couple of months and will have them look at it but thought I would check with this group as well.
We have an Acura MDS as well and on that forum, there was a technician that would post service bulletins which was very handy when taking the car in while under warranty. Did a quick search for service bulletins but did not see anything. Is there a thread for the service bulletin list?
