My 2008 lexus GX470 shifter moves but wont go into gear into gear and A/TP dash light is on. However it will go into gear when I have it in 4 high or low. Is the transmission shot?
View 9 RepliesSo long story short I picked up a 2003 Hyundai accent 5 speed 80xxx miles for $1,000 almost two years ago, vehicle has been running great but the shifter always felt loose and it feels really weird going into second (kinda like the shifter really falls far into gear) I was online searching and found other different type of Hyundai vehicles with the same issue and they replace the shifter bushings oem or after market and fixes the issue. I called hyundai and gave them my vin and they told me for my vehicle they don't sell the bushings , i would need to buy a whole new cable.
My questions is am I looking at the correct place to replace my shifter bushing on the trans or is there something else I should be looking at? Shifter has been getting to the point where it hurts my wrist to shift, I've already replaced the trans fluid and its not hard to go into gear, just feels loose and if I try and go fast and shift fast the car will probably grind second due to the shift lever.
For some reason when GX470 is parked, it does not want to reverse when slipped into gear. I have to apply a some pressure on the gas pedal and than it moves with a loud thud like noise, I have noticed it when the GX is parked for 24-36 hours.
We leave here in N-CAL and weather cant be an issue. Besides it always parked in the garage.
Have owned my 2008 GX470 for about 8 months now and love it. However, over the last month I have noticed the molding between the driver door and roof has been popping out. I don't know if there are clamps down in there that have fallen out or if the molding just needs to be clamped back in. Picture is below.
View 5 RepliesI have replaced the battery and determined that with the key turned off and doors unlocked the battery drain settles down to 130 milliamp after 60 seconds. If you lock the doors it settles down to the expected 20 milliamps after 60 seconds. Any description of what functions are turned off by locking the doors?
View 1 RepliesNew to my 2008 GX470. 100k miles. Love it so far. However I think I am hearing a intermittent rumbling as I drive down the road. It is like the rumble from a radio base sound. It could be normal road noise but I bet it is not.
I have replaced the left front axle (grease boot broken), replaced the rotors and pads, replaced all differential and transfer case fluids (not transmission yet) and inspected all the suspension parts.
Was wondering, there is a crack in their shifter bezel?
View 6 RepliesMy RX350 is over 4yrs old with 105k km on it. I notice lately when I drive off the seat moves back a bit and when braking hard it moves forwards. It is about quarter of an inch movement but it is noticeable. I guess it is not under warranty now. I looked under the seat but can not find where this is coming from, I am assuming it must be a loose bolt that needs to be tightened.
View 4 RepliesWhen I am in 6th gear (this only happens in 6th) the shifter kicks forward (towards the front of the car) about a quarter inch when I let off of the gas. When I press the gas again the shifter kicks back (towards the back of the car) a quarter inch.
I believe that this is caused by the haldex disengaging, because no matter how slowly I let off of the throttle, the kick is the same strength (or force? dont really know how to describe it). I was wondering if this is normal, or if I should get it checked out?
When I searched the only thing that came up was checking the mounts. I'm not sure this is the solution to my problem since this ONLY happens when I am in 6th gear, all other gears feel solid.
last night I was on my way to work and had the car in forth traveling about forty-five. A light ahead of me turned red and I held the clutch in until I had stopped. I shifted into what I thought was first. I discovered that regardless of the shifter position, the transmission left it in forth gear. Barely got it moving from a stop and brought it back home.
Looking under the car, I don't know exactly what the linkage mechanism looks like. I'm not sure how to tell if it has been disconnected or misaligned. I don't know if the problem is in the transmission itself either. The shifter moves to other positions freely, but in actuality it stays locked in forth gear.
My 2007 F150 Crew Cab Drivers door moves in and out wile driving, also it sounds like I can hear the outside air coming in. I checked the rubber weatherstrips and all seem to be in tact.

View 2 RepliesI had a question about the light in the gear box/shifter on the dash. Mine seems to work occasionally. Sometimes when I shift into a D or B it'll pop on. Lately it's stopped, I was thinking maybe I have a short in it or it needs to be replaced.
Upon searching through the forums it appears I'd have to replace the whole shift mechanism, is this correct?
It's been about 2 year almost. The shifter is difficult shifting from default position to Drive position. It's like there is some (plastic) obstacles on the way, right at the turning point. I have to force it to the drive position, and I hear the pretty loud clicking sound
Sometimes it also stuck in drive position (if I don't force it back), but will come back to default position in 10 seconds by itself. It is unlikely some external objects got into there I believe.
My 2004 expedition wont go into any gear the shifter will not move I changed the stop light brake switch and a 30 amp buss fuse I found blown and also the check engine light is on now too this was after I parked it I also changed a 30 amp buss fuse I found blown out but it still don't work the only way I can get it into gear is to push the little button under steering wheel...

View 2 RepliesI picked up a 2004 GTI not long ago for pretty cheap because it had a few issues. I am working my way through them. However, having 3rd gear issue.
All other gears are perfectly fine but there is way less play in the shifter in the 3rd gear position and I have to hold the shifter in position until the clutch is engaged (pedal up) to avoid the gear grinding. Once the clutch is engaged it stays in 3rd gear fine. It doesn't matter if I am moving from 2nd to 3rd or 4th to 3rd. Same deal. I have aligned the shifter several times using to proper procedures with no effect.
It never grinds 3rd with the clutch disengaged (so the synchro is fine?) and it will bang shift no problem. Oh and the clutch is less than a year old. It was installed by a shop before I bought the car. It's not really a big deal, but I would like to fix it. If I have to swap the trans that's fine, but need to figure out if it is a trans or linkage issue first.
I have a 2003 Lexus GX470 and its leaking fluid....Seems to be the transfer case?? Not sure.......I uploaded a picture.....There is a red square where it is leaking....Please take a look at this picture ... whats going on, and also if this is an easy fix.....or difficult.....Seems to be a gasket between the black case and transfer case??
View 14 RepliesI own a 2004 lexus gx 470 and I am having some audio issues. The stereo system is the standard Mark Levinson speaker system. When i turn on my car, I can cycle through the different radio stations and cds, but there is no receiving audio coming from the speakers. I think it may be an amplifier problem, but i also don't know where to locate the amp or how to get my radio to work again. Also, I have tried holding the audio button while cycling my taillights on and off 3 times, but nothing shows up on the screen. My radio has not been working for about a year now.
