This morning, when I started the GX460, there for the first time, is a high pitched buzz. Cannot determine where is coming from and there are no trouble lights showing.

View 4 RepliesWhat would cause my Lexi to squeal, in a high pitch fashion, while she is running. The rapidness does not change with acceleration/ deceleration. The brake pads are also squeaking- but the new squeal is with no brakes being applied. I had a mechanic suggest a total transmission rebuild- idk if I trust that.
View 2 Replies2014 Camry, 4 cyl. 65K ... Wife's car has developed a vibration that is going to be hard to get a dealership service group to troubleshoot due to randomness. I drove it for 30-45 mins today and have this description:
-Vibration, either described as a 'buzz' or a 'high frequency vibration'
-Happens in the 28-38mph range (different points)
-Under very slight acceleration. (hard acceleration efforts produce nothing)
-Can't swear to it, but feel like it is always in 'high' gear
-feel it in 'seat of pants', NOT through the steering wheel
-Is faint on sound, but you can hear something
-Is typically only a second or two
-Is very hard to 'create', but then happens unexpectedly.
-My wife first reported it to me, and I took my son on the test drive today and he could feel it as well when it hit, but couldn't pinpoint it as it comes and goes so quickly, but again, you feel it in the seat/butt more than anywhere else.
I've checked lug nuts to try to eliminate something easy and they are fine.
Since it is relatively slow speeds and under very slight acceleration, can there be a 'solenoid' that is creating a false shift effort, but just vibrates the trans instead? Without any info other than what I have stated above, I'm leaning toward transmission, but again, probably not enough info to go on....

My mother's 09 Corolla XLE just started making this high pitched noise.. It makes this noise every other day, then it makes a loud pop sound and goes back to normal..
I just purchased a 2010 GX460 with 63000 miles. I saw a buildup of white residue under the oil cap the day of purchase but figured it was just moisture buildup from the car sitting on a car lot and not moving much. Well, after cleaning it off, it came back. I then thought maybe there is moisture in the oil so I took it to the local lexus dealer and had the oil changed. Well, its still coming back. The picture below is buildup from 2 days of driving, I cleaned it off monday afternoon and its wednesday afternoon. When checking the dipstick, I have almost completely clear oil as its new, then about 2 inches above the oil line to 6 inches above there is more of this white stuff. Also, does the lexus drivetrain warrant that lasts to 70k miles apply to 2nd owners?

View 14 RepliesI got in my car today and realized it was making a whining noise, kinda like the whine of a super charger, I don't hear it at idle but when I accelerate or rev it in neutral it gets louder and higher pitched. Friend had this problem in his Mercedes and he said it was a bad belt.

Almost everyday in the mornings when I drive my car to work, there is this high pitch ticking/clacking sound coming from the passenger side vent/dash/A Pillar area.
It only happens over dumps on uneven surfaces or when I launch from a stop/red light. Keep in mind I have a manual. Its a rapid ticking/clacking sound that goes with the uneven surface or any sort of vibration on the road.
It usually goes away maybe after 20 mins of driving (I'm thinking it has to do with the temperature warming up). Or if its sunny out, it just magically goes away.
I've brought it to the dealer at least 3 times with no cure, because it takes me at least 20 minutes to get there. The tech would literally have to come to my house in the morning and listen while i start the car up and drive to "duplicate" the sound.
I originally thought it was static coming out of the right speaker due to bad wiring. Had the right speaker replaced already, sound is still there.

I found the vehicle drifts heavily to the right, so much so that I have to even hold the steering wheel several degrees to the left to make the car go straight. I drove my other cars on the same road and they are not as bad and generally go straight. Is this possible? Can a new SUV of this price come out of the factory misaligned?
View 8 RepliesI'm rolling down the freeway in stop and go traffic, so I have been EV stacking. Clicked from EV to HV several times over the course of 5 minutes. Then, I hear this fairly high pitched revving sound - even and constant rev up, not rev/idle/rev. I thought it was the truck next to me, so I turn down the radio and away from the truck but it happened again. I would stomp on the gas for a moment, and it would subside - not completely because it would start doing it again very soon. I'm not accelerating, but it would be like throwing it into neutral and revving. When I come to a complete stop, it would not go to EV - the light isn't on like when it is warming up the ICE.
My exit was coming up soon, so I would alternate pumping the brake and gas to get it to stop. Only when I was at the light that I powered off the car to reboot. Since then, it did not recur. Strange... Perhaps related, but I doubt it - I had bumped into a vehicle around 3-4 mph the day before. I was... drowsy.
How to disassemble the side mirror of GX460? I heard that it just clip-on, but it's hard to take off.

After get the parking lot, I turned off engine, and used hand to push the brake pedal, I can hear same noise, which like a air or gas squeeze out. Seems not big deal to me, just like to see do you GX460 owner have similar thing or I need to to dealer again.

View 14 RepliesEver since we got our 2012 GX, we hear a hissing noise whenever we brake to a stop. Does yours do this? Turn the radio off, and brake at a stop sign...do you hear it? The dealer didnt know what it was. We took another GX off the new car lot and it did the same thing. It sounds like air releasing when you brake.
View 14 RepliesThe specs says 23gl in total capacity. However, the last couple times I filled up gas, it was 19+ gl I put in with about 20+miles indicated on screen before filling up. So it means ~21gl in total capacity? I assume with 20+ miles left = ~2 gl of gasoline. I know the calculation is rough?
