Those little brown marks that you have on your leather for your skin touching it over and over again.What is the best way to clean that stuff off? What about the black scrapes your shoes leave right at the door entrance?
View 5 RepliesI want to use leatherique on my GS, but I'm afraid of clogging the perforations and somehow losing the cooled seat feature, if you don't know about leatherique you basically massage in one oil and leave it on a hot day, then come back and clean it off with the other cleaner oil that comes with it, I used it on my old 2GS and it worked unbelievable, made my car look almost factory new, got rid of most of the creases. Also what do you do for little things stuck in the perforations that won't vacuum out? I just don't wanna use some liquid cleaner and get it in the holes.

View 14 RepliesEvery time I wash the car and it's nice and dry then many hrs later I still roll the window down and it's still wet and streaks with wet marks , even the next day , continues to streak . So don't know if this is normal for these cars or not.
View 14 RepliesAnyways, I've put MAYBE 250 miles on my '08 GS460, and Ive noticed what appear to be wear marks from my jeans (just regular Diesel jeans). I didn't have this issue in my SC400, my girlfriend's Cayenne, or any of the other cars I drive on a regular basis. Is this common for these cars? Could the leather just be low quality? View 8 RepliesThe rear view mirror (inside) has black skid marks, lines, and dots and other crap under the mirror surface. It doesn't hinder visibility yet, but I wonder if there will be a recall in the future. Mirrors should have crystal clear visibility.

View 9 RepliesIn January we bought a 2010 RX 450H with less than 12,000 miles. But 2 months ago noticed a yellowing discoloring on the drivers leather in a few spots. It is the light gray leather. Also some flaking. I had a similar flaking with our 07 ES350. The dealer had their detailer clean the RX drivers leather but now notice it returning and several areas of the coloring flaking off. I've heard they treat any seat imperfections to prep for CPO sale. In fact it looked new when bought. The feel of the drivers leather is also different than all the other seats.
The car still has less than 20,000 miles. This is ridiculous.
Weird seat heater issue on my 05 TAP/Ecru. Drivers side seat heater tends to fail intermittently after I apply leather care liquid on the seat. Does not happen on the passenger side. In winter, it failed for nearly a week before coming back to life. Yesterday it failed for the evening, then started working again today. Each time right after I applied leather care to the seats. Same amount applied to passenger and driver's seat and the passenger seat is always OK.
What is causing this ? Of course each time I go to the dealer, it is working fine !!!!

View 14 RepliesI've been on a detailing spree lately, I'd love to get a sparkling clean engine bay but I'm worried about getting water into the high voltage bits. The ES300h has high voltage cables, motors and the inverter module on the right hand side.
So far I've used a damp cloth and dishwashing soap to wipe off surface dirt and oil. I'm not sure if using a low pressure hose is a good idea. To the hybrid owners out there, how do you keep your engine bay clean?
Cleaning the MAF on the GX460? I have seen videos on youtube but the MAF positioning on the GX460 is a little hard to get to. I am wanting to clean the MAF because I am still experiencing some sluggishness. The vehicle's response had improved after a fuel induction and a spark plug change but it is still sluggish when compared to other GX's I have test drove. It is sort of inconsistent. Sometimes, it drives super smooth and the gears quickly shift other times the gears take forever to upshift and downshift.

I am using the Meguiars Gold Leather spray for the leather which is doing a decent job, but I don't know what's best for the dashboard and the other parts.

At about 3,000 miles the color of the oil was golden brown but definitely had started to turn brown but still had a golden tint. Is light brown oil normal for 5,000 miles? The oil level is OK and still near the Full mark.

View 5 RepliesThis doesn't really have any bearing on my decision, it's just something I've noticed. My parents have a 2011 Camry and it does not have the individual "hash marks" on the gauges (or at least I didn't notice them during my test drive). In looking at photos of various Camrys online I see a mixture. I'm only looking at I4 XLE models so that should remove the variables out. I've seen both on 2010 and 2011, so it doesn't appear to be a model year deal.

What is the deciding factor in which cluster goes where?
I was cleaning the car earlier today, and noticed some swirl marks on the exterior of the trunk. It almost looks like some sort of oil stain. I have tried buffing it out with a wax compound, and simply washing it out but it does not seem to take it all away.
I've attached a picture, its hard to see so I've circled the areas.
Today, I was greeted by a big red STOP! warning from my 2000 Passat 6 cylinder. The car drove fine last night. The coolant reservoir appears empty and has brown residue all over the inside. I notice for the first time that there is pink fluid on the floor -- I'm assuming this is the G12 coolant.
It's not a hot day, so I put in distilled water, turn up the heat and drive my Passat (trying to stay under 2k rpm) down to the dealer. They say that the coolant from the oil cooler leaked into the oil (and presumably, vice-versa).
While driving my recently purchased minivan (a 1999 Pontiac Montana) for about 40 miles, I noticed the temperature gauge was reading high when I wasn't moving very fast, though short of what appears to be the overheating zone. Opening up the radiator revealed no coolant that I could see, but plenty of brown sludge. Looking under the oil cap revealed more brown pudding-type stuff (that wasn't there when I did an oil change when I first got it).
The lack of coolant makes me nervous that the engine might have overheating without the temperature gauge reading it properly. Is that possible? The heater was working, which searches seem to suggest means there must have been some in there.
I figure that either the intake or head gasket must be bad, so I'm nervously setting out to replace both using a gasket set like this: [URL] .....
What I'm more worried about though, is clearing the cooling system out of all the gunk. It sounds like oxalic acid and washing soda and back flushing might work? But I'm anticipating a large quantity of sludge, oily, rusty coolant water. How am I going to dispose of it all?
