Having this problem on ride, clicking noise when you apply brakes in reverse? ( I had this problem as well on my previous toyota ) it's annoying that I have to hear this sound again. My car is 6 mo old and I just put 5000km so far on my ride, I guess i can let the dealer handle it ?

View 9 RepliesI have a 1995 Lexus ES300 with 130,000 miles on it. When I reverse, I get a low-pitch growling and as as soon as I apply the brakes by a high-pitch, ungodly screech. This noise is definitely coming from the rear wheel areas. I'm not sure which tire is the culprit (I hear both sides from while listening from both the inside and outside). It happens frequently but is particularly bad on rainy, snowy, misty, or high humidity days. Two years ago I replaced the pads and rotors. At this point, the pads look to have about 40% life on them yet. This problem started happening about a year ago.
My initial thoughts were that it was just rusting because of the frequency on high moisture days. But both noises are way too loud for that. My second speculation was that the emergency brake was catching, but after examining it I think not. I've taken the entire assembly (brakes, rotors calipers, and emergency brake) at each tire apart and looked for any obvious issues that look incorrect. No luck. I've also applied brake quiet with similar results. Now my thoughts are that the low pitch is the rotors being warped. But that doesn't explain the screech and why it only occurs in reverse.
I have a dry metal on metal squawk noise when I reverse, I have taken it to a VW dealer, and they say "there is nothing wrong", or that they "cannot find anything". The noise is not constant, just when I apply the brakes in reverse.

This happens every time I'm in reverse and I apply the brakes.
The clicking is only when I first step on the brake, but it happens every time I first step on the brake in reverse.
Maybe this is unique to the LS600hL (2008)? Are brakes on my LS different from brakes on LS460 / LS460L?
I have a 2010 Toyota Camry SE with just under 51,000 miles on it. Every time I put the car into reverse and accelerate to apprx. 2-4 MPH then apply the brakes, I hear a loud popping noise, and it sounds like it is coming from the passenger front wheel. Slight noise from the drivers front as well. This doesn't happen in Drive, only in reverse at a low rate of speed. My father and I have taken the front wheels off and tested it, seems to be a motor mount, curious if this seems rational or common in a newer car.
View 11 RepliesI had my window down as I was backing the car into the garage today and heard a metallic clicking noise from the rear as I tapped on the brakes. The noise only happens when I am in reverse. When I put it in drive and move forward there is no clicking noise. As an AZ resident its rare for us to have the windows down so to be honest I cant really say how long this has been going on for. My car was just in for service for oil , tire balance, and alignment this saturday
View 7 RepliesFor a while my G35 has been making a thunking sound from the front end when either I go over bumps or I apply the brakes lightly at speed. It happens on both the right and left side (i.e. if I go over a bump with my left tire, it happens on the left side, with my right tire, on the right side, etc). Before I take it to mechanic need to determine if it's something I can fix myself.
View 13 RepliesI always thought the clicking sound I was hearing in the morning was coming from the engine. Then I realized the sound doesn't start until the car is in gear, either reverse or drive. After a few minutes it will go away but until it does, it is a noticeable sound. I still have a warranty. I am wondering what this could be.
View 3 RepliesI just installed new brake pads in my 2WD 2009 Santa Fe. I bought the cheapest AutoZone pads. Now I have a loud squeal sound when I apply the brakes. If I apply a hard brake the squeal goes away. Until I apply the brakes again. Now, after install...I have been researching and noticed that the stock pads are ceramic. I did apply (Not once but twice) break grease on the pads. What the problem might be? Oh yeah, I did see that after 2007, oiling the caliper springs is required and might be the problem too. But I do not know where the spring in question is and how to oil it.
View 4 RepliesIntermittently, when I apply the brakes my car makes a wet, gurgling sound, as if I'm driving over wet rocks. My husband jacked up the car and said he sees something on the front axle CV on the right side, not on left, and said it looks like a bushing bearing. He said the brakes have zero grit and he let them spin under power (I'm relating what he told me as best I can, he's mechanical, I am not). I also have a rack and pinion leak, though small, he's worried about the hydroloic (sp?) assist going out. I can't say I know what any of this means, but he can't figure out why my car occasionally makes this terrible sound. I haven't noted any specific condition for the noise.
View 4 RepliesI have had my certified 2010 Prius II, not two because it is a 2010 and 2010 used uppercase roman numerals for model designation, with 82000 miles about 3 months and sometimes when I apply the brakes I hear a high pitched whirring noise. I think the closest thing to compare it to would be a skill saw but not that loud.
View 2 RepliesI think something is wrong with my brake. I only have less than 3k miles on my 2012 Elantra GLS. But now, when I apply brake to stop from either a very low speed or high speed, I always hear a clear click (only one) sound which probably comes from under the car or brake pad (front driver's side). It sounds like metals collision. When idling, applying brake does not make any sound.
View 12 RepliesWhen I apply the brakes on and off while in park, I hear a "fluttering squeaking" noise. I examined the brake pads and calipers, and everything seems to be fine. I greased up all the brake hardware and no luck.
Also, I have a popping noise while making turns while I am not braking. I really doubt there is any connection with the brakes? I recently went testing in a parking lot, and while slightly turning from left to right I noticed the popping constantly. Keep in mind no brakes were applied.
Last year the dealer replaced the brake actuator and all arms were replaced. BTW, I am past my extended 100K warranty!!
I have been driving my new ES 300h for a few days and have noticed that often when I apply the brakes, there is a faint high pitched noise in the cabin. It's not a brake noise of any sort, its clearly some electronic component. I was just wondering if this is a normal part of the regenerative braking system or not, as it is definitely quite audible and takes away from the otherwise very quiet ride of the vehicle.
View 7 RepliesI purchased a set of new LTX MS2 tires back in October and a week ago a got a nail on the right front tire, specifically the side wall so they couldn't fix it so they replaced the tire with a new one. Now when I step on the brakes at 60 mph, the steering wheel vibrates. Can the new tire be causing that? I looked at the weights and one set of weights is taped kind of crooked, can the balancing cause it too?

After several minutes of trying, it finally started. Lights/windows/electrics all worked fine. What the problem could be - battery, starter, something else?
View 4 RepliesI've got this irritating squeal sound when I ride over speed bumps, already for a few years. Every time I go to the dealer, they try to fix it, though never fixed it completely. Once they added some kind of lubrication, another time they changed one of the suspension parts. However I still have the issue.

First time Lexus and RX350 owner. Not familiar with the new type of shift gear. When I shifted the gear from Park to Reverse straight down instead of moving to the right first, the vehicle would jerk and make a thud sound. Not sure if this would have damaged anything. After I have get used to moving the gear to the right first before shifting down, I would still sometimes have this jerk/thud. But if I do the whole shift movement (shift the right first) real quick then the chance of getting the jerk/thud is much less. Is it a manufacture defect or just I am not doing it properly?

Last week I broke my front right caliper. I replaced the caliper, rotor and pads. Now, when I apply the brakes I pull to the left. I took the truck into my repair shop and let them figure it out. They were unable to repair the truck. They replace the master cylinder, all brake lines, calipers on both sides, brake pads, bearings on both wheels, vehicle alignment, tire balancing and tire rotation. The tires are three months old. Prior to last week i did not have any problems braking or steering. Driving at 60kmh the truck goes straight until i gently brake, it will slightly pull left.
