I have a 2010 RX with 36k miles. Car started fine when i went to the store this morning, but when i went to leave the store, got a scratching/clicking sound when went to start the car. After several minutes of trying, it finally started. Lights/windows/electrics all worked fine. What the problem could be - battery, starter, something else?
View 4 RepliesIn the past few weeks when i started my car the clock would be off by hours, so I reset it. Last week while starting there was just clicking sounds. I cleaned some corrosion off the pos terminal and it started. Had the battery(3 yr 10 mos old) checked and it is fine, but the clock is still off by hours when I first start.
View 5 RepliesOn our 2016, it's got this weird scratching sound.. It is so faint, but definitely noticeable. It SOUNDS like it's coming from the driver wheel area; or perhaps under driver dash/footwell. I've looked at the brake rotor/suspension and everything looks good.
It isn't solid either; it'll do it SOMETIMES with the brakes, on starts/stops, and SOMETIMES it does it going over a speed bump... It literally sounds like someone scratching their finger across the rough part of the dash...
Every once in a while when I'm heading into the garage, slightly moving up over the edge from the driveway, the power goes away and there is this clicking sound. What's the deal?

View 14 RepliesI have a 1982 Chevy C30 pickup with an ignition problem. When it's really cold out, 15 degrees or colder, it won't start. When I turn the key, it feels like I'm turning a piece of clay. There is NO cranking, clicking or any sound made. The accessories won't work either. The last time this happened, I heated the ignition tumbler with a heat gun and the truck started. It started one time after that. Then on a warm day it started once; then wouldn't restart. I turn the key and nothing. It had to be towed. I wondering if the problem is the ignition tumbler, where I put the key, or the ignition switch, which is located near the bottom of the steering column.
View 3 RepliesThis is a true scratching sound...not a buzz or a whine or a squeak. I hear it mainly when the car hasn't been driven for several hours, and it is a constant sound (not intermittent). When I cut the power off, the sound stops immediately. It also eventually stops if I drive long enough (say 30 minutes to an hour). It seems to be coming from the driver's side dash, but I suppose it could be coming from some component under the hood on the driver's side. Of course, my service department is over an hour away and the sound has stopped by the time I get there. They did check for any signs of rodents, but everything was clean. But as I said, the sound stops as soon as the power is cut.
View 1 RepliesJust bought a used 2011 Elantra Limited and noticed a scratching sound when the wipers are activated. The result is a small scratch towards the bottom part of the windshield.
I can see exactly what is causing it - there is a spring that allows the wiper arm to pivot and the spring connects to a piece of metal that sticks out a bit when the arm is flat against the windshield. The piece of metal bows out a bit and only touches the windshield for a few inches when the wiper arm is at the bottom of the windshield.
I have tried to bend the wiper arm and also tried to bend the piece of metal to no avail to get the scratching to stop.
I have a 2009 Gen III T Spirit. Recently, and I think following the recent reflash, I have been getting an extra noise on cold startup. It is a scratching noise that lasts just a couple of seconds about 4 or 5 seconds after pressing the start button. I have tried to attach a short recording but cannot upload an mp3 file so have made it into a zip file.
I have checked whether it is radio by removing fuses 8 and 28 and have also switched off the heater fan, both without any effect.
This morning when I started my 2010 (30k miles, still a baby) it started making an AWFUL sound that I guess I can only compare to a helicopter (THUDTHUDTHUDTHUD). It was practically shaking the car. I panicked, shut it off, and tried again a minute later, at which point it was fine. I googled this and checked other threads, but the car was never in motion and the rear battery vent is completely clear. It drove in fine to work.
It has been BRUTALLY cold for 2 weeks (up to -30 with wind chill) but last night was only -5 and it was a balmy 3 degrees this morning.
I noticed that every time I hit my brakes, I heard a clicking sound and a little bit feel at my shifter lever. I found same issues on the Sonata forums but I just wanted to know if we elantra users had the same problems like me. Its annoying & I don't find it normal. What can be done ????
View 3 RepliesSo fairly recently, I've noticed a metallic-ish click like noise from my back rear driver side wheel. I hear it on occasion when sitting down in my car and the car tilts slightly. I can reproduce the sound when I take my hand and rock the car just a little bit. What that might be? Or if I should be concerned?

View 3 RepliesMy 2010 prius is making a strange sound, and has been since day one.
It makes a "Clicking" sound sometimes that can be heard inside the cabin and sounds like it is coming from the center dash. It is definitely NOT a squeaky dash or door panel or anything like that. It is definitely electrical in nature. It almost sounds like a very fast clicking relay or maybe another electrical component. It is fairly high pitched (not like the inverter whine, though) and definitely clicking (maybe buzzing), not constant. It sort of sounds like a cricket. I am working on adding some audio/video to this post, should have some up today.
Here are some things I have noticed about the noise:
1. Only happens when gas pedal is depressed, not when braking or coasting.
2. When the display is in "Eco" it happens loudest and consistently when the bar is 3/4 of the way full, but it can happen (although the clicking is slower and less consistent) at 1/2 or just before the power section of the bar.
3. The car must be "warmed up" i.e. doesn't happen right away, car must be driven for 10-15 min if engine is cool.
4. Seems to be happening more/more quickly after starting the car in the hotter weather (I purchased my car in Feb.)
I have a 2012 Hyundai Elantra and I have had it for almost a year. Its been snowing here in Tennessee. I went to start my car and wont start. All the lights come on, radio, etc.I have tried jumping the car and wont work, even tried changing out battery. Not sure if theres any known issues going on or if it has to do with it being cold.
View 9 RepliesI have a 2010 SEL with auto transmission (obviously). When it changes gears both up and down shift there is a clicking noise. I don't remember hearing it before about a month ago, but that doesn't mean it wasn't there.
View 5 RepliesI started having an issue with my lexus ls460 2007, the radio works good, but sometimes the sound doesn't come out, in other words even on max volume I can hear almost anything, a clicking sound comes out with this problem, the thing is (hands free) works perfect, navi guidance works amazing, except all radio sounds including AUX gives out lil sound which I can't hear.
View 6 RepliesIn my 2007 LS460 (Mark Levinson) the audio sounds are gone including button clicking sound, bluetooth, etc. Can I say that my amp was really busted? And for sure the brand new amp is very expensive so thinking to replace with the used amp if it was really busted.

It is not when i am making turns, just sitting idle with the wheels straight.
My 2010 toyota corolla LE headliner makes a clicking sound in the back. This usually happens when I go over a rough road.
View 4 RepliesThere is a medium sounding clicking coming from the gear selector area. I understand this must be the mechanism that prevents you from accidentally going into reverse when you are driving. However, the sound really is irritating and the car did not used to do this. I have taken it to the dealer, which states it is normal and there is nothing to fix. I have been doing some research online and it appears an easy fix is to just grease it back up. It appears over time the grease comes off or something. That being said, how do I get the initial gray plate off? (see picture)
