In the past few weeks when i started my car the clock would be off by hours, so I reset it. Last week while starting there was just clicking sounds. I cleaned some corrosion off the pos terminal and it started. Had the battery(3 yr 10 mos old) checked and it is fine, but the clock is still off by hours when I first start.
View 5 RepliesI have a 2010 RX with 36k miles. Car started fine when i went to the store this morning, but when i went to leave the store, got a scratching/clicking sound when went to start the car. After several minutes of trying, it finally started. Lights/windows/electrics all worked fine. What the problem could be - battery, starter, something else?

View 3 RepliesFirst off, its a new battery and I checked my battery connections which are tight and clean. Sometimes it starts up and sometimes it gives me nothing and takes a few times before it will crank. For a few days before that started the clock was resetting sporadically... sometimes i would get in my car and start it and it would be fine - and sometimes i would start it and it would reset to 12:00. Today it started to die, twice when i was stopped at red lights it would completely just lost all power - but I was able to crank it right back up and it started right away.
Last year I had the clock resetting thing as well, it lasted over a month - then one day after a long trip I pulled into a gas station and the car just wouldn't crank up - the battery was dead and I bought a new one. So the battery I have in there isn't even a year old yet. Funny thing is I had that battery tested and the guy said it was good - now I wonder if it was my battery last time at all. Seems like its something electrical, something somewhere. The a/c goes on and off on it all the time, but that has happened for a few years now.
I have a 1982 Chevy C30 pickup with an ignition problem. When it's really cold out, 15 degrees or colder, it won't start. When I turn the key, it feels like I'm turning a piece of clay. There is NO cranking, clicking or any sound made. The accessories won't work either. The last time this happened, I heated the ignition tumbler with a heat gun and the truck started. It started one time after that. Then on a warm day it started once; then wouldn't restart. I turn the key and nothing. It had to be towed. I wondering if the problem is the ignition tumbler, where I put the key, or the ignition switch, which is located near the bottom of the steering column.
View 3 RepliesCar is hard to start when sitting about 9 hours or longer to a day without being started up it is hard to crank over, I am at a loss to what is causing it, the car has a new battery, new distributor rotor w/wires and cap, my car is an 1993 Nissan stanza ALTIMA GXE w/automatic seat-belts, the car is fully loaded Except for sun roof or heated seats, I do have 242360+ miles on the car. I kept the car well maintained from Nissan, and they can't find anything wrong with it. is this the case of just old age on the cars behalf? what I do notice is there's a slight drop in voltage reading on battery the night before to the next day, can a starter be my problem??

In the last few days I've noticed it has had issues starting. For instance, when I got into the car and started it for the first time in the day, it starts up fine. Then a few hours later, I start it again but the engine will just spin slowly...I then turn the key back to off and then turn it again to start. It then will start up fine on the next try.
No check engine light or any sounds I can feel (I am Deaf so I cannot hear any sounds when it doesn't start) new battery in August of 2015. When it doesn't start, all of the dash lights come on.
My 2000 Honda Civic sputters a bit after it starts, and then smooths out and runs fine. This has been happening in the morning and at the end of the work day this week. I recently got a new starter. My battery is rather old. Could it be that?

View 4 RepliesI own a 1999 F350 with a 7.3 diesel engine, every time I drive it, it will start once then it won't start again for hours. At first I thought the starter was getting hot because of the exhaust is too close to it but I tested the wires going to the starter and i am not getting power to the starter when this happens. When it started doing this, it would only act up if it was above 80 degrees outside. Now it makes no difference. I have replaced the Valve cover gaskets, glow plug solenoid, and starter solenoid.
View 3 RepliesI have a 2011 Camry, and I noticed about 6 months ago that when I'm driving the car after its been at rest for several hours, within about a quarter of a mile into the drive, there is this slight rattle/click, simultaneously somewhere around the gas pedal it feels like something clicks into place. After that the rest of the drive is completely normal.
Recently this occurrence seems to happen more frequently, and not just when the car's been parked for awhile.
To me this car is still practically brand new, and I'd hate to think that there's something majorly wrong.
If I'm giving a jump:
Assume I hook positive and negative cables to the respective terminals of one of the two batteries. The alternative would be hooking positive cable to one battery and negative cable to the other battery, or does that make 24 volts? I'm also assuming if it is just the one battery, it does not matter which one you jump from?
If I'm receiving a jump:
I assume positive cable to positive post of one battery and negative cable to a good ground under the hood somewhere? Again, does it matter which battery I use? I wonder where a good ground is on this crowded diesel engine and aluminum body. Front radiator supports?
The digital clock in my 2000 Echo is starting to fail, and needs to be replaced. The local dealer quoted my $285 for a replacement.
View 1 RepliesGot two brand-new Motorcraft batteries installed about a month ago and truck has been cranking great. However, the last couple days in the mornings the truck is starting slow and dragging as if the batteries are going bad. It does crank pretty quick but just has a noticeable starter drag now. Since I have no way of diagnosing the batteries with a tester over the holidays.
What are the odds that brand new batteries are going bad? I was thinking this is a starter issue since the drag is most prominent in the morning but it does it throughout the day while I'm driving driving on each start. But it's not as bad as the first start-up.
I hooked up a scan tool (Forscan and Dash Command) and the only trouble code I received that something to do with the turbo boost pressure fault, it was a code P1247. I don't see how a turbo boost pressure fault, low pressure, could have any starting related issues but you never know. Just a note this code only came up on my FORScan Lite app but it did not come up on the dash command app so I'm not sure if it's a legitimate code.
So I'm back to a battery or starter issue. Is there a way that I can check without much equipment to detect whether not I have a starter or battery problem. I do have a battery charger but no other equipment.
This is my first dual-bat vehicle. 2011 F250 with ~60K. Dual alternators. Bought in August of 2010. One battery(passenger side) was leaking pretty badly in ~2012 and was replaced under warranty along with the harness as it was corroded.
Yesterday, I drove the truck quite a bit on ~20-25 mile trips and left idling during a couple of them while inside Home Depot. No indication of any trouble.
Today, would not remote start, and when I put the key in and turned it to the on position, the dash lit up for about 3 seconds but once it started waking everything up, it all went dead. Start results in a faint click. I got 11.2V from a trusted meter. I've got my 20A charger hooked to one side right now.
Is there any special trick or attachment procedure to charge a dual battery setup? What about jumping off? Does one bad battery cause both to "act" bad? If I can determine which battery is causing the issue, am I safe to replace just that one, or should I get two new batteries?
Every once in a while when I'm heading into the garage, slightly moving up over the edge from the driveway, the power goes away and there is this clicking sound. What's the deal?
View 7 RepliesI started having an issue with my lexus ls460 2007, the radio works good, but sometimes the sound doesn't come out, in other words even on max volume I can hear almost anything, a clicking sound comes out with this problem, the thing is (hands free) works perfect, navi guidance works amazing, except all radio sounds including AUX gives out lil sound which I can't hear.
View 6 RepliesIn my 2007 LS460 (Mark Levinson) the audio sounds are gone including button clicking sound, bluetooth, etc. Can I say that my amp was really busted? And for sure the brand new amp is very expensive so thinking to replace with the used amp if it was really busted.

Started up the SC 430 (2002) and a clicking noise is coming from the engine. After engine is warmed up noise settles down. Have 71212 miles
View 10 RepliesI'm I just purchased a SC430 2002, car make a clicking noise when shifting gears. Example when I turn my car on and shift from Park to Reverse I hear a clicking noise and then when I go from Reverse to Drive it makes a clicking noise. Sometimes it just goes away. Is it a transmission issue or if this is a common sound.
