My oil maintenance light keeps coming on at 5k miles even though oil change is suggested at10k with correct oil...
is there a way to have the reminder set at 10k its getting annoying...
I see from reading the Rx350 maintenance schedule there is a task to 'Reset Maintenance Reminder Light' Is this something a DIYr can do (simple to do on my 06 IS350) or is a PITA like on a German car..have to have a 'special tool'?
View 4 RepliesI have a 2010 Prius that I bought used this past Fall (2013). I have only had the oil changed once and it was at the local Toyota dealer. The service adviser told me the interval was 10k miles however, the "Oil Maintenance Required" notification is flashing on my dash at only 5k miles since the last change.
Is this a standard preset notification that trips automatically at 5k miles or does the computer measure the quality of the oil and it is telling me that the oil is shot and I need to change it now?!?
My Prius is now 4 months old and has just just over 5000 miles on it. The Oil Maintenance message is showing in the display. I was told that oil change intervals were 10,000miles.

View 7 RepliesSet up the free oil change for next week (10,600 on the odometer) and was wondering if this is an automatic light just based on mileage. Prior owner got a free 5,000 mile oil change and selling dealer changed the oil at 5,800 when we bought it.
But I guess if there's a reset somewhere that neither prior dealer took the time to do the car thinks it's time for it's first change. This is a 2014.5 SE Sport put in service July of 2014.
My bride's 2013 v5 is flashing "Maintenance Required" at a little over 4600 miles. Way too early for the recommended 10K oil change (though we will probably do the first change at 5K)...

View 4 RepliesWe own 2 2011 Prius cars bought at the same time in late May. Both have around 4600 miles on them. However, one has started showing a, Oil Maintenance is need soon , screen each time now at start up.
My question is first off, why is happening ? It was my understanding that the oil change level is 10,000 miles. Both cars were made well into the new 10,000 mile oil change requirement, so why is this light going off?
What should one expect during the 10K service? Is there anything I should ask for specifically? I already got some default settings fixed during my 5K visit.

I have a 14 RX with 12,000 miles on it and want to reset the message. I'm not finding anything when doing a search here. Need to reset the message? I'll be doing my own oil changes and tire rotations since the first free dealer oil change and rotation.

View 3 RepliesI DIY most of my vehicle maintenance (oil, brakes, coolant, filters, etc.) so I figured the brake fluid wouldn't be an issue on the GX. However, while searching for the proper DIY procedure I found a number of posts that claim some Lexus models can ONLY be flushed at the dealer with Techstream.
Is this true for the GX or will the typical DIY work (pump brake and hold down, release bleeder valve to bleed fluid, close valve release brake petal and repeat)?
One thing i noticed on the GX is that the brake pedal will not presurize the lines if you pump it with the car off. That itself tells me I may be in for a surprise if I try the DIY method...
