My Prius is now 4 months old and has just just over 5000 miles on it. The Oil Maintenance message is showing in the display. I was told that oil change intervals were 10,000miles.

View 10 RepliesI have a 2010 Prius that I bought used this past Fall (2013). I have only had the oil changed once and it was at the local Toyota dealer. The service adviser told me the interval was 10k miles however, the "Oil Maintenance Required" notification is flashing on my dash at only 5k miles since the last change.
Is this a standard preset notification that trips automatically at 5k miles or does the computer measure the quality of the oil and it is telling me that the oil is shot and I need to change it now?!?

View 4 RepliesYesterday had 5000 miles/6 months service performed on 2015 3500 miles AWD RX-350. Right after leaving the dealer felt that steering wheel is too light. After some driving it returned to normal, but with very light shimmer during driving (40-50 ml/h) and stops . Today was backing up from garage and shaking was much more noticeable when reversed and parked, also it was some kind of (I think) engine roar. After that drove almost 30 miles with some steering wheel light shimmering, but no other issues.
Is it normal car behavior, and I'm just paranoid ? Or, if there is a potential problem, what could trigger it, and how it could be resolved?
Got my car back from dealer for 5000 miles service. On the way home I heard there was some weird noise under the hood. It sounds like some very thick heavy motor oil dripping on the pan intermittently.

View 5 RepliesI'll be running my 2013 f-350 diesel with a 6,500 lb load on it at interstate speeds, steep, western mountain back roads, lots of dirt roads and some tortuous 4x4 in low range 1st gear. Been doing the same thing with a 1988 f-250 for the past 25 years and it was also pulling a four horse trailer. No horses any more but Ford owners manual seems to indicate I should think in terms of 5,000 mi maintainance intervals and use 5w-40 oil. I bought a 7,500 mi maintenance plan. Always did my own before. I'm thinking about upgrading to a 5,000 mi plan and 100% synthetic 5w-40.

At about 3,000 miles the color of the oil was golden brown but definitely had started to turn brown but still had a golden tint. Is light brown oil normal for 5,000 miles? The oil level is OK and still near the Full mark.

View 14 RepliesI had my car drop for a while now on megan ez coilover. Before I bought my new set of wheels, I drove the car with the OEM wheels and they never had any cupping issues. Then after I bought my AME Shallen with 20mm hub centric H&R spacers on Nankang NS, and then they started cupping on the front inside tires after 5000 miles. I had the alignment done and only had the toe adjusted.(don't have camber kit) At first i thought it was the spacers causing the issue, but then I bought Orden's with new Nankang NS and had the toe adjusted to spec's again. Camber is at -3 BTW. Recently i started hearing the same road noise so I inspected the tires and found it was cupping in the front again! I also checked the front end of any damage or worn out bushing and couldn't find any signs of damage. I always keep my tires at 40psi, torque them down evenly, and I'm using hub centric rings. My questions is do you think is the Nankang tires or do I have a suspension problem?
