My wife had been complaining about a rattle noise coming from the front of her 10 RX350 when she goes over bumps at about 35mph or so. Could not pinpoint the problem?
View 4 RepliesWent to pick up my Touareg tonight. Took it for a quick test drive and there was a noise and rattle coming from the steering column when you hit bumps. It sounded like metal on metal. The tech guy drove it with me and agreed something is wrong. They put it up on the rack but I left because I had been there for one hour and that was already past my mental limit for being in a car dealership. I didn't sign the paperwork. Told them to call me when they figure it out and I'll come back and buy it if the problem is not significant. Everything was going great until then.
View 2 RepliesI have had my 2010 GS450h for a few months now and about a month after I bought it, I noticed a faint rattle from the steering column, almost like there is a loose bolt or something. It is getting more noticeable (especially on broken pavement/rough roads) It's annoying and the only issue I have with the car.
View 8 RepliesI brought our 2010 Rx450h to the dealership several months ago due to an occasional clicking noise in the upper steering column, behind the steering wheel area. The repetitive clicking was most noticeable at slower speeds while turning the steering wheel.
The dealership had the car for about 3 days saying it was a loose cable and then told me when I picked up the car, that sound was the way it was supposed to be, part of the electric assist steering. So the clicking noise continued.
Now the steering is getting stiffer. Some days much stiffer. This happens more when turning the wheel slowly.
Light rattle/clunk in the steering column when going over bumps or sawing the wheel back and forth?
Lately I'm getting the sound inside the car. It feels like a loose bushing or something.
When going down the road I notice a rattle noise coming from the steering column area. I took it to the dealer a week or so after noticing it. I purchased the car brand new and like I said I took it to the dealer a week after purchasing it and they said they could not find anything and said they zip tied the brake lines or some bs hoping that would solve my problem.
It is now kind of obvious and I am going to take it back in to another dealership that has a better reputation.

I did some searching, and it seems the only way to eliminate the rattle from the rear tonneau cover is to remove it completely? I use mine all the time, so I don't want to remove it, but the flap seems to make noise over most bumps. Any way to eliminate the sounds that it makes over bumps?

View 7 RepliesI have a 2007 Lexus ES 350 ultra that I quite enjoy, it has 182,000 miles on it and as time has gone on it has developed this noise in the steering wheel and steering column that I cannot diagnose, it's a noise that I have posted in a video : [URL] .....
I'm fairly mechanically adept and inclined but I truly don't know what this noise is caused by, it sounds like it is in the steering column itself. Normally I would say it has something to do with suspension but since this happens whether I'm moving or stopped, I think it is just a worn or loose piece but I don't know where or what.
it's strange, it feels like something is loose, not the steering wheel but the column that the steering wheel attaches to, this only happens when going over dips or bumps, any time the wheels take impact.
View 82 RepliesI just recently picked up a 2001 F-150 4x4 super crew. The steering column is wobbling a little when I hit bumps. I accessed the column and there are two white plastic "bushings" that hold the casted portion of the column tight against the studs with the star ends. This is above where the reinforcement bracket is bolted on. One of them is worn and won't tighten down to hold the column tight. What these are called so I can't find them to order them, I used a large washer for the time being but would really like to replace with new ones.
View 1 RepliesWhen I drive over quick choppy bumps in pavement I get a rattle in the rear of the suspension, but only when the bump is on one side. When the bump is long and activates both rear wheels, like a speed bump or a large road crack I don't get the rattle.
The sound seems to be worse on the right side and I can't really figure it out. Anything specific I should look out for?
Just received my car back from the service department and noticed a slight clicking sound that isn't too loud, it's mechanical sounding.. Quieter than a ball point pen retracting I'd say. It clicks every quarter of a turn while stopped and low speeds.

View 14 RepliesMy 07 gs350 only has 67,000 miles on it, and I've only had it for 2 weeks. I've noticed a rattle in my dash, seems to be up where the front windshield meets it. It only seems to happen when I hit bumps, which is quite frequent. The roads here in Michigan are absolutely terrible. Also I have run flat tires on it, which I heard makes for an extra bumpy ride... Is this a known problem? If so what's it gonna run me to fix it? Or is it just these run flat tires that I need to change maybe?

I purchased new tires for my Camry at a mileage of about 70,000 (~11/2015). I do mostly city driving. A few months ago I sometimes started noticing a steering column shudder upon braking when traveling at higher speeds (~50+ mph). I read on the web that this type of shudder is typically caused by warped rotors.
I was considering getting a front brake job (new rotors + pads), but decided to get a tire balance/rotation. It was reported that the right front tire was out of balance and that now all four tires are in balance. After the Balance/Rotation, the problem was still there but not as bad (Shudder reduced by at least 50% over what was experienced before the balance/rotation).
I went to a brake shop and discussed the problem and they said that they suspect that there may still be a problem with proper tire balancing. They recommended a second opinion on whether or not the tires were properly balanced. They did not explain 'second opinion' so I went to where the tires were balanced two weeks earlier (Discount Tire) and they did a free balance check and reported that all four tires are still balanced.
Basically, I have no detectable shudder at less than ~50 mph. All rotors and pads are the original ones that came with the car when it was new.
How do you remove the top steering column cover? This is the plastic piece immediately toward the front of the car from the steering wheel. It covers the steering column and is not part of the steering wheel. Part number is 45286-47040-C0 and the parts breakdown doesn't show any fasteners, it probably has some tabs that need to be released, but where?

I have them all working except for the lights on the turn signal lever, the windshield wiper lever, the cruse control and the steering wheel. So all the light on the steering column are out. I cannot find a bad fuse. Which fuse it might be, or some other items to check?
View 2 RepliesI have an RX 450H and noticed that there is a squeaking sound coming from the dashboard. I looked at other posts where people were experiencing similar issues and noticed one post where someone had a GS 450H and fixed this issue by adding felt between the dashboard and the windscreen.
I would like to know whether this method works 100% and whether I can apply this method to the RX 450H. The noise becomes worse when it is cold and especially when the car is being driven over rough road surfaces and speed bumps.
