Recently purchased a 2002 sc430 with 80,000 miles on it. Car drives like a dream but I have a noise coming from the backseat. Rear Passenger side ,upper back area. Best way to explain it is that it sounds like a small fan???? Comes on here and there as I drive .

View 3 RepliesSo I went into my garage last night to shut the door. I heard a slight buzzing/humming noise coming from the car. I narrowed the noise to under the truck of the vehicle. It sounded like a fuel pump was running. I don't know when it started, but it was about 5 hours after the car was driven last. After a little research, I found this in the manual page 8:
"Approximately five hours after the engine is turned off, you may hear sound coming from under the vehicle for several minutes. This is the sound of a fuel evaporation leakage check and it does not indicate a malfunction."
I started my car and it stopped after that. Could this be The case of why some people have dead batteries on the 2014? Maybe this runs to frequently or stays on too long?
I keep my 2015 RX 350 in the garage, and last night I noticed a humming or buzzing noise coming from it. I switched the ignition to accessory position and turned it off and the noise stopped. A search here turned up many discussions noting is is the gas evaporation leakage check valve and it is a normal function of the vehicle. My question, is this some sort of pump that is running and causing battery drain?
View 3 Replies2015 IS350 AWD ... Lately I have noticed on a cold start that when my idle is between 1000-1500 rpms, there is a slight buzzing/humming noise. It goes away if I rev the rpms past 2000 rpms and also when it drops under 1000 rpms. It's almost like a droning noise. I can hear it inside and outside the vehicle when the rpms are in that range. I feel like the noise is made at a certain frequency and it causes a vibration to occur.
View 3 RepliesI have recently started to hear (at frequent intervals) a loud buzzing sound that can best be described as a phone vibrating/buzzing while its on a table. The sound happens every few minutes and is pretty annoying. It seems to be coming from around the navigation area or glove compartment - i cant pinpoint it. I turned off the radio and AC and the sound is still present. My Navigation Wood cover has been STUCK for a few months (doesn't come out and shut nor tilt) but not sure if that is the cause here. What can be causing this sound?
View 14 RepliesIn my 07 ES350 I had water on the carpet of the drives side all the way to the backseat! I was gone for a coupla days when this happened and with the heat it sure did have a musky odor when I opened the door!
I have looked all around the sunroof and cleaned the edges could not see anything that would leak although under the sunroof at the front there was water in the tray.
Then I looked all around the windshield. Could not see anything that could cause a leak. Lightly hosed off the car today and had water dripping down the driver side pillar and the covering for the pillar was wet.
This car has never had a leak anywhere until now. Gonna have to have the carpet removed and steam cleaned I guess to get rid of the odor, but not until I stop the leak!!!!
Pump buzzing/humming noise varies depending upon whether accelerating, coasting, or decelerating. Sound is reminiscent of a dentist drilling my teeth. Is loudest while accelerating, hardly noticeable while coasting, and somewhat noisy decelerating. Had one suggestion that the FWD torque placed on the steering rack causes the different noises. Haven't been able to do anything to quiet it.
View 2 RepliesWas the warmest/hottest day of the year here so far and my black Prius had been parked in the sun all day. When I came to drive the car the a/c came on full power to lower the cabin temperature.
However, from the front of the car the two fans were making a really weird buzzing, humming noise (but were both spinning at high speed). Now I know a/c fans work flat out sometimes but I have never heard a noise like this before on a cars a/c. It almost sounded like the noise a jammed lawnmower makes, or some of the old lifts/elevators doors make. Almost an electrical buzzing noise of a solanoid but it was coming from the two fans.
Is this normal? Was it the fans or maybe the compressor or both? The a/c was working fine and was ice cold. When the cabin temperature reduced the noise reduced a disappeared with it. However, I did manage to repeat it by turning the a/c internal fan speed to full on a low temp setting.
I have a very strange sound coming from the multi color display in the instrument cluster. Whenever the display is on (no need to start the car, just open the door) there is a humming or buzzing sound. Not very loud, but loud enough to get on my nerves.
View 15 RepliesI have a 2008 Kia Rondo. Recently we took a trpi. Halfway there, we started to hear a humming/buzzing sound (similar to that of a remote control airplane). It was the loudest when we would stop at a stop light/sign, but would stop when the car was put into park. The noise grew louder and louder as the drive went on. The noise was coming from the front region of the car, but couldn't decipher exactly where. We were able to hear it from the inside of the car as well as the outside. The noise stopped once we reached our destination, but then started back up again on the way back home. Once home, it stopped again and our auto shop couldn't find anything wrong with it. What it could be. Hasn't done it since we've been home. Wondering if driving through the mountains put stress on it. What could be making that noise?
View 4 RepliesI just came back from a long weekend and left my 2010 GTI in the garage at home. When I returned the battery was 100% dead. Got a friend to jump it and it refused to start for about 30 minutes. Finally it grudgingly turned over and eventually started. So I drove it around for an hour, came home, turned it off and tried to start it - to see if it had charged at all. Again it turned over very slowly, and eventually started up. Seems very strange that it's so slow to charge.
So now I have it on a trickle charger and with the engine off I noticed a weird humming/buzzing sound. It seems to be coming from underneath, somewhere in front/near the right rear wheel. I waited 30 minutes to see if it would turn off once the car cooled. But it's still running. I've never heard that before and no wonder the battery died. What's going on? This is a mystery.
On my 2007 Prius, when I depress the brake to power the car on, it makes a simple, almost welcoming humming/buzzing sound. However, if I do it again within a couple minutes (for example, if I turn the car on to pull up, turn it off, and turn it on again), the noise when I depress the brake is different. When I press it down, it will make no sound for about a second or two, then make a deep 'thud' sound.
View 3 RepliesI have a 2005 GLI tip-tronic. Bought used but the brakes are not that great. I know what the brakes should feel like since I did a swap for them on my GTI. I'm done brake pads /flush and cycled the abs pump to try an fix it. However on this car when I press the brakes I can here a humming/ buzzing noise. I'm assuming it the brake assist pump. Can this be eliminated or does it have to be replaced. The car stops just not all that great for it having the type of brakes it has.
View 1 RepliesI just purchased a 2016 Hyundai Elantra and the FM radio channels are all experiencing intermittent "buzzing/humming" on them in the background.
AM and Sattelite radio are fine. I've checked on other FM radios from same locations as the Elantra, and those are fine too.
I have a 2008 touareg 2 V8. When we first got the truck everything was fine.. In the last month or so the driver's side mirror seems to be humming or buzzing at 50-70mph (80-120km/h)... If I fold the mirrors it goes away... Cross wind will make it louder, also it is intermittent... Maybe it's resonance?
View 3 RepliesOnce the car reaches about 80 miles per hour, a buzzing/humming noise is emitted from the front of the car. I can't tell whether it's from the dashboard area or the footwell area, but it sounds like it's coming from below. There seems to be an exact speed where the noise stops and ends. The car does not shake or vibrate when the noise occurs.
The noise has happened twice. Not coincidentally, those were the only two time the car has been above 75 or so miles per hour within the past few weeks. I have looked on some forums for similar happenings, and I found the answer could be bad wheel bearings.
Other problems with the car include a very-vibraty engine between 1000 & 1500 RPM, a gurgling noise at low speeds/idle, and harsh shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear.

2003 f350 6.0l single alternator. Replaced alternator a couple weeks ago with one from napa, noticed a humming with key on and the engine off . Traced it to the alternator, called napa they said it was not normal come get a replacement, put the new one on same thing. Charging in the 13.5 to 14v range the case of the alternator seems to get hot quickly when running.

View 13 RepliesMy 2002 outback tape deck, which I use primarily to listen to my phone via a cassette adaptor, has recently started making a very loud buzzing/humming noise. It does this with both my old and a new adaptor, as well as a standard audio tape.
I could try using a head cleaner on the tape deck, but my impression is that this isn't what typically would happen if the head needs cleaning, and I don't particular want to waste the time and money on a solution that I'm pretty sure isn't going to work, but I'm asking you all in case you know better than me (a real possibility). I just don't know if I should try that first, or if I should just go out and purchase a new car stereo that has either blue tooth, or an audio input plug so I can directly plug the phone in that way.
Also if I do go the way of replacing the stereo, is that generally a straightforward process? And would most replacement stereos be compatible with my vehicle, or do I need to be selective?
I'm on my second Prius, love my Prius btw. I just bought a 2010 and notice when the a/c is on there is a somewhat loud air noise coming from the back seat. It seems to come and go. Is this normal? My 05 never made this noise.
