2011 F-250 Lariat with 38,000 miles. What is the cause or source of humming or buzzing noise from the under the hood that starts once I turn the truck off and close the door? Lasts from 3-4 minutes and only started noticing it in the last two thousand miles or so.
View 13 RepliesMy 6.7 makes a humming noise when i shut down my engine. Starts a little loud and gets softer at the end. it last maybe for a minute. But here's the catch if i stick the key back in the ignition it stops and as soon as i pull it out it starts again.
View 4 RepliesI have a 2011 f250 6.7, I park under my house everyday, so I am used to weird noises coming from my truck when I shut it off, but now that I just did a dpf and egr delete, and tuner, I noticed that my tuner doesn't shut down until the noise under the hood stops, which takes a few minutes to stop, I use to hear the air valve on the egr cooler shut when every got quiet, but I don't remember it lasting this long, any one else have a H&S mini max and it doesn't shut down right away? the place where I bought my mini maxx said it should shut down as soon as your head lights go out, but that's not the case, the headlights go out long before this noise stops and the tuner powers off
View 10 RepliesAfter engine is up to temperature the engine has a buzzing/whining sound just at idle. Pick up rpms and its gone. They thought it was comeing from the oil filter and changed the filter and it disappeared for a while but its back again.
Very hard to pinpoint the sound even with a styphiscope. Going back to dealer.
So I changed my fuel filter today and everything went as planned. I replaced it with a Ford OEM filters. I drained the filter housing under the truck by turning the yellow thing 1/4 turn. I then used a wrench and changed the filter. I put the new gasket on there and and tightened back down until it mechanically stopped. I then changed the one under the hood. I then did the bleed procedure 10 times and the truck fired right up.
Now for the reason with the post. I am getting a humming noise from the lower filter. I can find the issue. The yellow thing if fully seated closed and the housing is tightened as far as it can go. Under the hood, both lines are snug and on there properly. I can't figure out what is causing the humming.
The truck fires right up and the noise seems to go away, but I get the humming noise each time I turn the key on. I know something isn't right. I drove the truck around the block and didn't get any codes, but I have to drive it tomorrow and I don't want to risk damage to the truck.Thoughts on things I should try?
So with the hurricane coming to my house I did the balljoints on my drivers side yesterday to prepare to evacuate today. Everything went smooth with no problems. Now fast forward to the drive to Orlando, I hit a bump going 65 and my front right side (ball joint replacement side) starts humming. I pull over and it stops, get out see nothing obviously wrong and start back on my way with no noise to speak of. It happened again and again I just slowed to almost a stop and it went away. Yesterday after the repair I took it on a trip through some crappy roads, the freeway, and all that to ensure she was safe with no problems. Maybe it is the bearing failing all of a sudden (it looked fine when I took it off). I have had a vibration at 55 consistently i think is the tires now that I replaced the ball joints (was waiting to have the tire shop check balance until after the repair) maybe that could be it?
View 3 RepliesI've got a stock '15 F250 6.7 w/ the Diesel Site FF67 fuel/water separator and a 50gal Titan Tank. I installed the filter + tank at the same time around 2 months ago; A few weeks ago, I started noticing an odd buzzing/whirring/gurgling noise (both while the truck was running, and while the fuel pump spins up right after turning the key on). I thought maybe it was a filter related problem (I got some little black plastic bits in the filter after installing the Titan Tank, despite my best efforts to clean it out thoroughly before installing) - so earlier this week, I replaced both stock fuel filters, and both filters in the DS filter. Didn't seem to affect the noise from the DFCM at all.
I guess my question is - does it sound like this is sucking in air? I've never found any leaking fuel (even after a 3000mi drive from TX to VA and back), and the truck has never complained about low fuel pressure as I've read that some others have run into. But I don't remember the DFCM/low pressure pump being this loud before I installed the new parts.
I spoke to the folks at DieselSite a day or two ago (those guys are great), and they mentioned that sometimes the Ford quick-release fittings work themselves a little loose from the fuel hose during the filter install, and that putting a hose-clamp around the hose+quick release fitting may solve this; I ordered from clamps from McMaster Carr that arrived today, so I may give that a try tomorrow just to see if it changes anything.

Ratchet buzz noise my truck makes. Is not present until motor warms up. Noise is not present as much at idle but when you accelerate upwards to 1800 RPMs it makes such an obnoxious buzzing noise its embarrassing. Noise seems to come from top center area of motor.....
I have 2003 f250 6.0, had the turbo rebuilt and I put it back in, my turbo is whistling but I'm also getting a humming noise kinda sounds like a when u down shift at high rpm's idk what's going on, I try and power break as well to build up boost and the tires do not even spin...
View 4 RepliesFixing issues with my truck. I just ordered some latex surgical tubing and am getting ready to fix the rattling noise in my rear door by using the Epic's Door Seal Mod. Hopefully this will take care of that issue.
One more annoying noise though. Has there been any fixes to the buzzing window noise that is coming from the front passenger side. If the wind is blowing right and I'm running over 50mph, at times get a loud buzzing noise and really bugs me. Something is vibrating and at first i thought i had a speaker going out but found out that wasn't it.
I've called my dealer and informed them of this and asked if they've heard of this but of course they haven't and this usually means the won't do anything besides look for recalls or something. I have the noise recorded and scheduled an appointment with my Ford Dealer but again, they won't do anything most likely.
I have a 07 f250 6.0l and it has 112k on it, I've owned it for over 4yrs, since 45k, and no issues, but this morning I went out to start my truck didn't start, tried again and started, but the glow plug controller made a funny buzzing noise, (making that noise for a few weeks), so I went to ford and bought a new controller, so I hope that fixed that, but on my way to work I was at a traffic light and noticed that my ficmv were between 46-48.5, icp 23-24%, vgt around 68%, truck was at temp, should I start to worry about the ficm??, I have to replace my ground on driver side battery, noticed that it is corroding, gonna do that, I have 2 yellow top optima batteries about 3 yrs old....
View 9 RepliesI don't think I've really noticed this before, but I filled up my 50 gallon Titan tank and added a full 32-ounce bottle of Power Service Diesel Kleen (treats "up to" 100 gallons) before hauling some stuff and running through that tank in a weekend. I didn't really intend to but wasn't paying enough attention and put at least 3/4 of the bottle in and said screw it and let it have the rest.
I don't know whether that has anything to do with it, but since then I've noticed at idle it seems to have kind of vibration at idle, like a low frequency buzz. At speed it appears to go away. It's not horrible or anything, just noticeable, made more so by a flashlight I had in the hard side pocket of the 4-cup center console buzzing against the plastic.
What could be causing it and how to treat it? Doesn't seem like something worth taking to the dealer even though I'm still a little under the 36k mile original warranty.
Been noticing it more recently. After shutting truck down I would say 15-30 seconds after some type of pump or solenoid starts running and does so for another 30 seconds or so ( from the frontnofmthentruck). What this might be? Also have noticed it just once after starting I was walking around the front of the truck and heard this buzzing sound once again.

When I am sitting at a stop at idle and have the brake pressed i hear a humming sound and the pedal vibrates but when I am moving an press the brake it doesn't do it. Ive checked the pads all around they're fine brake fluid is fine it didn't start doing this till a few days ago.
I am just trying to figure this out before i end up going down the road one day and go to stop and have nothing there.
2004 f350 after i shut the truck off something was buzzing. So I popped the hood and found its the injector harness or injectors.Is this normal or something I need to look into?

View 2 RepliesI think my starter took a s hit like I said truck randomly doesn't crank all lights on dash come on can hear injectors buzzing turn key nothing. Took wire off passenger's side of truck yellow wire touched to pos post solenoid click no crank. So I had the old lady sit in the drivers seat well I hit the starter with my BMFH started right up could something else cause this or should I just bite the bullet and replace the starter?
View 7 RepliesMy hood insulation is ripped up and as one of those projects I never got around to. It has shredded and pieces are down in the valley and in the engine compartment. Some of it smells now because it has gotten hot. I would like to clean it out and replace the pad. What is the best way for me to clean it. Do I take it to a truck detailing place or just spray it with gunk and take it to a car wash. Also if the latter is the answer then does it matter if the truck is hot. Currently the truck is 30 miles from any car wash so I'm worried about washing it hot. I just realized though I have my pressure washer with me so I could use that. Recommendations?

View 3 Replies2003 f350 6.0l single alternator. Replaced alternator a couple weeks ago with one from napa, noticed a humming with key on and the engine off . Traced it to the alternator, called napa they said it was not normal come get a replacement, put the new one on same thing. Charging in the 13.5 to 14v range the case of the alternator seems to get hot quickly when running.
