I've tried searching, While I can find instructions for changing these valves on other cars, I can't find it for the SC 430.
Is there a link here for how to do that? I think my filters are probably clogged (165,000 miles) but I can't figure out where they are.
I'm thinking it may be why my VSC light is on as well. Should I try Seafoam in the crankcase first?
I have a 03 sc430 will a stuck climate control. I can change the temp on the passenger side, but the drivers side is stuck on 65! and its cold here!!!!

View 1 RepliesRecently I had my oil changed (do it every 3500 miles) . Normally I do not drive many miles per day, but about 5 days after the change I noticed my valves making a noise... I thought it was a stuck lifter....put in some mystery oil...all was fine until I again noticed the clacking lifter after driving 15-20 miles highway....I then checked my receipt from the oil change and it showed they installed .5w30 not the 10w30or even 5w30 weight oil recommended. I took my jeep to another place and had the oil changed again with 10w30 oil and all is fine now...my question is... I drove with the .5w30 oil for about 6 weeks and 800 miles... did this potentially damage my engine?
View 14 RepliesThe outside temperature has been cold since the purchase of my 07 SC almost 2 weeks ago (below freezing F ). The A/C green light has not been lit. My 05 SC, the light was on all the time. Dealer says the system will turn the A/C off in certain circumstances in very cold conditions.
View 12 RepliesAt the 150K mile mark electromechanical components are starting to fail (Nav DVD reader, CD changer, 2 starters (they seem good for only ~70K miles), brake switch, etc.) which is probably reasonable to expect, even in a non-humid climate. Recently, the controls for the passenger side window stopped working. Some details:
- Driver's side window control works to control driver's side window
- Passenger side window switch LEDs are not lit on either door
- Passenger side window rolls up and down when top is changed to up or down position
Given that the motor is proven good by the fact that the window goes up and down with no problems when the top's position is changed, I'm inclined to think that there is probably an issue with the "COMPUTER MPX DOOR" component in the passenger door.
Unfortunately my car Heater A/C Control Panel LCD is broken, I mean only the screen. I accidentally hit the screen while I was pulling my guitar from the back seat .It shows many black lines that are almost covering the whole LCD!! everything is working fine except nothing can be seen on the screen.
I was told that I must buy the whole panel and it is really costly. I thought maybe I can replace only the screen? Is it possible? Or can I get any other car LCD and fix it into this panel??
VSC, VCS OFF and Check Engine Light .... all came on a few minutes ago while out for a Sunday afternoon drive. Depressing/releasing the "VSC OFF" button multiple times did nothing. All 3 lights now stay on. Checked the manual which said to take in to Lexus dealer asap but could continue driving....something about vehicle stability control system not activating.

Not a bunch but I fear that it is just a matter of time before they all go away.
I assume, not being a LCD engineer, that there really isn't much that can be done to fix my existing LCD but I thought I would ask the group hoping for a resolution other than replacing the LCD.

View 8 RepliesStrangely, after my battery died and the car was jump-started the volume control on the steering wheel is not working correctly. When I press the volume up switch, the sound actually decreases, and the volume down button does not function. The manual volume control on the radio works fine.
View 14 RepliesI am having an issue with the car not feeling stable on the highway or at speeds over 50mph when I am on a curve and go over a roadwork patch. The cabin of the car seems to float way too much to the side, almost like hydroplaining although the wheels stay put on the road.
After describing this to a mechanic, he said it sounds like my lower control arm bushings are gone. He looked at them and confirmed it, the rubber bushings that control the side to side action are cracked and worn out. He said that he is unable to just replace the bushing and has to special order the whole arm from the dealer (approx 200$ each arm).
I went to get a second opinion and another mechanic basically told me the same thing except the price on the part went down to 175 per arm with 2-3 hours labor.
Check engine light with code 0125. This code indicates low coolant temp for closed loop fuel control. Well I have changed the thermostat, engine temp sensor and new coolant. After driving approx. 5 miles the light came on again.
View 5 RepliesI have a 130K+ 2002 SC430 in which I recently started to smell gas in the cabin when air vents were set to pull air from outside. Within two weeks, I got the check engine light with two codes, P0440 and P0446, which mean "Evap Emission Control System Malfunction".
In doing some research the check light light could be everything from a gas cap which is not tighened properly, to a bad "charcoal canister " (whatever exactly that is), to a cracked or disconnected "Evap Hose". The only other SC430 related thread I could find on this topic is [URL] ....
If it factors in, I only use 93 octane gas. Interestingly enough, the check engine light came on within 30 seconds of me using the window washer to clean the windshield (at highway speeds), likely a coincidence.
I own a 2002 SC430 with 20,200 miles on it which I purchased new. The other day the check engine light came on. I checked it with the code reader and got the following 2 codes. P0300 (random multiple misfired detected) and C1201 (engine control system malfunction). The car ran great before, now running real ruff and when you drive it has less power.
View 9 RepliesYesterday all of a sudden the lights on the instrument panel started flashing and the RPM indicator started fluctuating . The RPM indicator would rev and bounce all over the place while the engine was. At a constant speed. Same thin happened before when the alternator went. Next the A/C sort of went and the NAV screen showed Air Condition Diagnosis with no options to change the climate control on the screen. When I got to the car I noticed the 110v ac button was on, not sure how long she had it engaged. I turned if the 110v button and unplugged the battery to reset the computer. All seems fine driving it for 20 miles now.
View 2 RepliesAfter 4 years and 75k miles the oem battery finally needed replacement. Pretty incredible since average battery life is no more than 3 years in the 20 years I've been in the desert. The battery was out of the car for about an hour, but as far as we can tell the only settings not retained were radio presets and climate control. My phone was still stored. the only issue we're experiencing is the climate control seems to not turn automatically on intermittently. Most of the time you go to the car and start it up, ac and fan kicks on and everything is on auto. Twice the car starts but the climate control is off...fan off, no ac.
View 3 Replies2014 IS350 ... having issues with loud ticking from engine? Sounds like it's coming from the engine valves. Lose valves maybe? My car only has 16k miles. But the ticking is annoying. I cant imagine the valves ticking that loud with such low miles. And it ticks even after warmed up. The oil is within normal range and still looks clean. I'm not due for an oil change for another 2k. (i change the oil every 5k). I am considering switching to sightly higher weight oil for the summer time.
