One channel (FM 90.3) delivers perfect sound for two seconds, then complete silence for a half sec. then two more seconds of perfect reception. No fade, no static, just on and off regular as a clock. This station broadcasts on two other frequencies which are behaving and 90.3 comes in fine on my other vehicle.
View 2 RepliesMy driver door speaker (top and bottom) often have static on them and fade in and out. I can tap the driver door and they'll usually come back in ... for awhile. Was wondering if I need to replace speaker(s) or is this just a bad connection in the door somewhere? Looks like I can remove the door panel from the useful DIY's below so just wondering if I should have new speaker(s) in hand when I do.
View 1 RepliesI have done hours of searching about the rough idle on the SC430. What I haven't been able to find is any information about an intermittent rough idle. I have cleaned my MAF sensor twice.
I am having my mechanic replace the radiator tomorrow because of a leak and he is also replacing the idler pulley and the belt tensioner (one of them is making a noise and I purchased an extended warranty!) At the same time he will be doing a throttle body cleaning. I had my timing belt replaced as well as the water pump and had my mechanic check all the spark plugs and all were fine.
I am going to have him check the motor mounts as well. The RPM's are fine with the AC on or off and I have used Lucas fuel treatment on this current tank of gas without any results and my next tank I will try Seafoam as suggested by my mechanic.
About every 10 to 20 minutes while driving I hear 5 or six intermittent beeps. No warning lights or anything, just the beeps. What is it? I have a 2002 SC430.
View 7 Replies2002 ... I've been getting a soft engine fault all three lights on and reduced power. This usually occurs if I accelerate hard but also happens if I take a small pot hole in the front, a little bump seems to trigger it as well. Also engine resets to normal after removing key.
It's not logging the fault as had dealer read ECU and said was not logged.
When I take off from a start it will intermittently stumble or hesitate, seems to be around 1500 rpm. have also noted it at higher speed while cruising. its more like a momentary power cut than a miss fire.
So far I have done the following
new fuel filters
clean MAF
new PCV valve
new spark plugs
check all hoses and plugs etc
injector clean
checked techstream for codes. there is one for a heated O2 sensor but dont think thats it.
2002. SC430
Lexus has diagnosed a ground fault with an intermittent connection.... I am not sure how to proceed ... Could it be a light bulb connection... or does it even have these? Can the part be serviced in place... or must I replace the whole assembly?
View 4 Replies2014 Camry, 4 cyl. 65K ... Wife's car has developed a vibration that is going to be hard to get a dealership service group to troubleshoot due to randomness. I drove it for 30-45 mins today and have this description:
-Vibration, either described as a 'buzz' or a 'high frequency vibration'
-Happens in the 28-38mph range (different points)
-Under very slight acceleration. (hard acceleration efforts produce nothing)
-Can't swear to it, but feel like it is always in 'high' gear
-feel it in 'seat of pants', NOT through the steering wheel
-Is faint on sound, but you can hear something
-Is typically only a second or two
-Is very hard to 'create', but then happens unexpectedly.
-My wife first reported it to me, and I took my son on the test drive today and he could feel it as well when it hit, but couldn't pinpoint it as it comes and goes so quickly, but again, you feel it in the seat/butt more than anywhere else.
I've checked lug nuts to try to eliminate something easy and they are fine.
Since it is relatively slow speeds and under very slight acceleration, can there be a 'solenoid' that is creating a false shift effort, but just vibrates the trans instead? Without any info other than what I have stated above, I'm leaning toward transmission, but again, probably not enough info to go on....
I have an RX400h with about 100k miles.
The car's ML Stereo System recently started to go mad a bit: Let's say I am listening to an FM radio station on 103.3 frequency. From time to time I notice that sound quality goes bad and I can notice on radio screen that frequency changed from 103.3 to 103.25. After hitting memory button again 103.3 comes back, but after a while the problem appears once again.
I have a 2015 RX350 with 25k. New tires, two road force balance by two different dealers and I'm still getting a high frequency vibration mostly in the seats above 60mph. Dealer cannot find any issues.
View 6 RepliesI just purchased a 2009 gs 350 a few months ago with 40k on it fully certified. I quickly noticed that most of the fm radio stations were static even local ones that I usually listen to all the time. Some stations would go in and out of static but too annoying for me to deal with. Ive tried turning random things on and off to see if it changes the reception but nothing works or makes it worse.
At first I thought I'd just deal with it, but then I realized how much radio I actually listen to. So I brought it to the local lexus dealer a few weeks ago to see if they could fix it. They replaced the head unit once with no success, so they ordered another one and replaced the original with it. They had the car for two weeks and when I picked the car up they said that all the stations come in except a couple.. Turns out it seems to be exactly the same as it was before, maybe slightly better. I want this fixed completely with no static at all especially since the car is certified and most things are covered.
I think it could only be one of three things the head unit, the rear windshield (where the fm antenna is located) or the wiring in between the two. Since they already replaced the head unit twice I think its safe to say its not the head unit even though they said they tested it somehow and that's what the problem was......
My 2007 Lexus ES350 with 81,000 miles on it has a very low frequency squeak when the heater is first cold or on low. When I turn up the fan above the lowest setting the squeak will go away. I checked my cabin air filter but it appears to be clean & newly replaced.
View 7 RepliesI have a new 2014 RX350, and around the 500 mile mark I began hearing a faint static/buzzing noise that is definitely noticeable when it is very cold outside. It seems to be related to the braking system (i.e. when you press and release the brake pedal), but I have heard it when I'm just driving and not touching the brake pedal. It almost sounds like the car's electronics are going through a self-check, but it is audible. Took my RX to the dealer and they said that the noise is "normal" and that all third generation RX's have that noise - something to do with the brake pedal modulation? All I know is that it is annoying, especially when everything else is so quiet when you drive without the radio on and the fan speed turned down. Definitely disappointing in any car but especially a Lexus.

View 3 RepliesI am coming from a 2001 Acura CL-S which is a 5 speed automatic, and that car wouldnt' change gears that quickly. I understand cars today change gears frequently to be in the best gear for fuel efficiency?
But I feel like my ES350 changes gears so much, even at the slightest speed change. Is this normal -perhaps it's because I haven't driven a new car since my 2001, 12 years ago! Even the slightest press on the pedal will downshift the car and into the lower gear, even on ECO setting. On my Acura, pressing lightly on the accel pedal didn't result in a lower gear, as I know the engine had more than enough torque.
I also love reliability, and this makes me think the transmission would have a shorter life span with all the shifting. I still haven't asked my dealer about how often to do tranny fluid changes (which I know is a different thread altogether about discussions about "lifetime" fluid).
I recently leased a new 13RX350. Something I find really annoying is switching the radio between FM/AM/XM. When I press "mode" on the steering wheel to change from one frequency to the next, the pre-set stations do not follow. What is I mean is if i am listening to XM Radio, and then I press "mode" to switch to FM and want to press the up/down to change the channel, I still get the XM Radio channel. The pre-set list does not change to FM and its such a hassle having to use the control console and scroll up 6 lists of pre-sets to get to FM. I'm wondering why Lexus did not make this more intuitive?
View 6 RepliesI'm new to the Lexus family. I recently bought a 2007 rx 350. It's in wonderful condition. I noticed that when I go above 60ish, I hear what sounds like a draft or a static-like sound. I've turned the radio off, air off, turned on re-circulated air, made sure all the windows are up, but no matter what I still hear it. I had a small Honda Civic before so I don't know if it's getting used to the aerodynamics of an suv? It almost sounds like there's a "crack" that's allowing air to come through the but there isn't. I don't notice it at all when I'm driving around town, only really on the interstate. It's most noticeable when in the drivers seat. I wasn't sure if it's just the nature of the ventilation system of this vehicle or should I have it checked? Am I just over analyzing?
View 6 RepliesI have 2015 IS350 F sport. At 400 miles I started hearing this static sound which seems to come from the center or the driver side dashboard. I don't hear it if the car is not moving but as soon as I hit 5-10 mph and above, it becomes audible. I tried pressing the dashboard to see if there are loose areas but couldn't find one. Also, I thought they may be coming from the center speaker but the sound doesn't change whether the stereo is on or off. Of note, it is more audible along bumpy roads.
View 6 RepliesEvery morning on the way to work, I get the freeze warning alert and the blinking snowflake at 39 degrees. Is there any way to silence the audio on this? It's the same tone you get with low fuel, seat belt or other warnings. I know it's cold out and really find this audio alert annoying.

View 19 RepliesI own a 2003 Sierra 1500 SLT Extended (4-Door) Cab which I bought brand new. It currently has 120k+/- miles on it, but the problem I'm about to describe started about 5 years ago. Here's the issue: Whenever I first attempt to start my truck, I know the odds are 50/50 that it will actually start. When I turn the key, it will either crank right up like it's brand new or it will do nothing at all--no cranks, no clicks, just complete silence. When the weather is colder, the chances it will start are slightly better.
Those chances go downhill as the weather improves--the frequency of "non-starts" increases. I have had a whole lot of mechanics--both physical and virtual--try to diagnose this problem. I even left my truck at a GMC dealership for 4 days so they could replicate the problem and diagnose it. Unfortunately, my truck started on every attempt they made which was 2 or 3 times per day. The only hint of where the problem my lie came from an automotive electronics technician. He said he can't be sure unless he replicates the scenario, but he said the factory installed alarm system is most likely the cause.
