Somewhat frequently my wife's 2003 makes this sound. It sounds like it's coming from behind the instrument cluster. It can last for several minutes. I did a search on the forum but couldn't find anything.

We do plan on bringing it to our local VW dealers attention at next scheduled oil change. I started getting this noise as well about a month ago. My passengers commented about sounding like someone sawing inside the dashboard. I do like the percolating description better...
This is different than the other "running water" sound that you get when initially turning the car on. I was told that was normal.... This percolating sound happens while driving and I noticed that it does have the pattern of happening when at slow speeds or stopped in traffic (after driving fast for a while).
I've noticed when running the A/C I get a noticeable change in sound like a gurgling water sound from the engine bay, there also is added vibration that I can feel on the wheel. I really only get it in drive while at a standstill e.g. at the drive thru. When the car is in park it goes away so I haven't been able to pop the hood and try to pin point the location of the sound. Idk if its from a/c compressor or is just a funky idle note that's produced when idling.

When I turn on the car in the morning, I hear gurgling sound somewhere in the front. Also when I stop and then accelerate the car I hear the sound like water flowing. What is it?
2007 Subaru Outback, 110 K mile sI drive 200 miles each way, once a week to DC on Sunday and back home to the mountains of Western MD on Friday. All problems happen on that long drive, not on local trips. Only happens when I'm driving in the mountains.
Symptoms: Sometimes overheats (needle gets close to red area, but not quite into it). I pull off and stop the engine for 5 minutes, start the engine, and needle goes to normal area. This happens only after driving about 2 hours. Continue the trip without problem. Never had to stop more than once.
A/C sometimes doesn't cool. Harder to tell now that it's cooler outside, but it put out only warm air one day two weeks ago. The next morning, it worked fine. Heat does not work very well. Set at max (85), the air coming out is barely warm. Also, the passenger side is colder than the driver (dual controls, both set at 85).
May not be related, but I can hear a sound like water gurgling when the engine is running. It's very soft and seems to be inside the dashboard behind the steering wheel. There are no apparent leaks anywhere. Seems to only do it when I am pressing on the accelerator.
My mechanic checked the A/C gas, flushed and filled the cooling system, looked at the temp sensor inside the car, and doesn't know what to try next. Could this be a computer problem, or is it mechanical?

When I start it, I hear a "gurgling" sound, like bubbling water.Sounds like it is coming fom under the dashboard, but can't be sure.Heater core is my first guess, but heat is fine and it seems to be coming from the driver's side - not the passenger's side where the heater core is located.

A few weeks back I started to hear what can best be described as a "water gurgling" sound coming from my dashboard area or where the vents are. It happens especially when make a tight turn or something, it only last a couple of seconds and doesn't happen all the time. What am I hearing and what was the cause of this and is there any fixes for it?

I recently have been hearing a gurgling or even a water sound from under my dash board on cold mornings. Note I don't even use my heat or air conditioner and I drive about two miles to work, park my car and turn it off and for a minute or so I hear gurgling or a sloshing noise. Note some days I don't hear it when it's 60 degrees outa X warm for the day.
Now a week ago I took it to the dealer and they said yes your heater plugs were clogged, they fixed that and I can now still hear the noise....
So I have been searching around and allot of website have been saying that it's my coolant level. Now I just drove to work and here is a pic of my coolant level.
I just noticed the other day that part of my instrument cluster is darker than the rest. Everything is nice and bright however my 0-20mpg area isn't as bright as the rest of my cluster.

I do know that these clusters are LED illuminated, but wanted to know if taking the cluster apart and what the replacement of this LED all consisted of.
View 2 RepliesThe backlighting on my instrument cluster is dim behind the 10mph area and bright everywhere else. There is a light bulb or LED burned out. On most cars you can just replace a bulb back there. Is this possible on the GX470? I can not find the part number anywhere.
View 8 RepliesStarted my 2013 RX this afternoon and it indicates these two alarms on the instrument cluster, Engine Check Light & Track Off. Found out that my gas cap was not tightened (let my son fill the tank when he borrowed it the night before). Hooked up my OBD II scanner to clear and it shows two codes P0441 & P0445. They reset but my scanner says they are permanent. What does that mean? Will stay as an error until the ECU says otherwise?
View 13 RepliesI have not been here in a while. Sold my IS250 and picked up a 2004 GX470 for the family. Installed a new double DIN head unit a few months ago and finally got around yesterday to installing the backup camera. Since I had the rear hatch open I decided to replace the rear hatch lock actuator motor as well. Hooked everything up and turned on prior to closing the interior panels and everything worked fine (reverse lights, locks, backup camera, started up fine). So I closed up all the panels and go to start the car and I get nothing but random flashing from the dash once I get ignition to ON. I also get a steady clicking from the fuse area.
Checked the fuses and I also tried to hookup to Techstream to see if any errors, but of course I get nothing (it can't connect to the vehicle). I disconnected the negative for 20 mins or so and tried starting again with the same outcome. So I disconnected the camera wires from the reverse light (thinking maybe the GND wire was shorting somewhere to chassis?) and disconnected the negative battery cable for a while and tried once again... same flashing instrument cluster lights and no luck . Gotta get the wifes vehicle back up and running.
I have a 2012 F350 XLT that came out of Canada. So of course the speedometer is in KM. (Large numbers are km and smaller numbers are mph). I am trying to find out if I can simply change out my cluster with a mph cluster???
View 4 RepliesI recently traded my 2012 GS 350 for a 2015 GX 460. It's more my type of vehicle, and I am loving it except for a noise under the dashboard that seems to be somewhere behind the instrument cluster.
The noise is more of a ticking sound, and if I had to guess, it seems to be a wiring harness in that mesh-type wrapping that's moving around. I hear mostly over bumps in the road, but it also shifts when I accelerate from a stop. Unfortunately, the area where I'm hearing this is inaccessible without removing the dash.

I was driving and instrument panel flickered on and off a couple of times then stayed off. Also now battery, about 1 year old, doesn't stay charged. Would it be short in wiring? Or what?

View 2 RepliesI am getting water at the very front of the trunk, nearest the passenger compartment. Might be the drains in that vicinity that might be plugged causing an overflow there .Rest of the trunk is dry. The only wet area is immediately underneath the pull-out "shade" thing that has to be in place for the top to operate. Some indication that the water is coming from above that, since it is wet also.
View 14 RepliesI get a small "squeal" from the engine usually only when it's cold out, and have narrowed it down to the water pump pulley (2nd pulley down from the top). I put a drop or two of WD-40 on the "rod" that runs through the pulley and it stops. I know not to put anything on the belt to avoid contamination but it seems to me that it's the metal bolt that keeps the pulley in place. I stopped by an O'Reilly and had the tech have a look because I was going to try a more viscous grease. He thinks that it's either the pump is starting to fail or that the pulley could have moved out of place. He said I should remove the belt and tug on the pulley.
If it moves then it's loose and needs to be lubed and tightened. If it doesn't then it's a water pump replacement. What do you all think? I don't want to drop a ton of money as it truly only squeals when it's cold, and unfortunately I'm thinking Chicago's gonna have a cold one this year even though after the engine heats up it's goes away. If you have a guess to the problem, what do you think replacement will run me. I'm only at 30,000 miles, and has been garaged until recently so I don't think it's a belt change or pump failure yet.
With DRLs enabled and a Euro switch in Auto, I get HIDs, city lights and side markers during the day - no DRL indicator on instrument cluster.. With switch in Off, I get only HIDs, but with DRL indicator lit. In Auto I expected only HIDs as DRL and DRL indicator lit. No city lights or sides.
