The car has an obvious misfire and the scanner says its Cyl # 8. I tried the "italian" tune-up and under heavy throttle the miss goes away. I swapped coils and the miss stays with Cyl # 8. I pulled the injector, and can't see anything wrong.
View 11 RepliesStarted as I was warming up the truck,a slight vibration/shudder. First thing that came to mind was F150. Torqued words of wisdom that it might come back, I had a p0301 before. Had no CEL, so decided to drive it to see if it got worse. Turned onto the main road and on came the CEL. Pulled into my FORD dealer, told him about my problem. Code P0308 misfire on #8cylinder was the read out, COP was done and the plug. 40 min of labor. She's even quieter than when #1 got changed.
View 3 RepliesNew to diesel trucks and wondered if this recurring code is a serious problem. I clear DTC and truck will run fine. Might stay off for 2 days or 2 months and same code comes back. Truck seems to run just fine even with service light on.
View 5 RepliesLately I have been working a lot with my cold air intake. One of the vacuum lines keeps popping off. Today I got a check engine light and VSC and VSC off light. Is that due to the tough idle caused by the disconnected vacuum line. I erased the code and so far it has not returned.

View 5 RepliesI left my chevy s-10 truck sitting over the christmas (23/24/25) and it was really cold outside and when i got back i started getting a P0304 (Cylinder 4 Misfire). I replaced the spark plugs and spark plug wires. May be the cold would cause this to happen? I think I've noticed the trucks fuels efficiency drop over the past month). May be the fuel injector(s)? Is the s-10 TBI or does it have fuel injectors for each cylinder?

View 18 Replies1997 Ford Mustang 4.6L EFI engine with 67K miles. The engine is actually now in a Factory Five Roadster. It sat on a stand for 5 years but runs well now with the exception of the code. I keep getting a code P0304 (cylinder 4 misfire) and I've checked the plug - the code seems accurate; it is misfiring.
Things I've tried:
1)swapped plugs,
2)this is a dual coil engine so I've swapped coils,
3)the #4 plug is the longest sparkplug wire so I've gotten high-performance wires,
4)heavily grounded the AL head,
5)put dielectric grease on the plug,
Still, ONLY cylinder 4 gives the misfire.
I was driving along and the engine started missing really bad. The whole car was bouncing around. At first I thought I had a flat, but when I stopped I noticed it was the engine. I checked the error codes and got 16684 and 16686 --- Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire.
I had a problem recently with the vacuum hose broken and was causing an error code. Replace the hoses and it has been fine. Checked to make sure that the hoses were secure and they are fine. Doesn't seem to me to be related. So many problems for a car with 57,500 miles
So yesterday I had Error 3 code display on my cd player and after messing around with the device i was able to get it to eject all the cds. Thinking all was well, i tried to load one cd and it won't even respond to me pushing on the button. There is no noise or error code coming from the unit. Whats going on here?

I am getting P0355 error code and potential misfire codes on all cylinders. Engine light and VSC stays on now. Idle is unstable and power is a little jerky at times. I bought a Denso direct ignition coil to replace, however, Cyl 5 looks difficult to access.

Shows misfire is still on #3. Plug looks normal tan brown.
#3 is the middle cylinder closest to the firewall I take it.
My 2011 Accent's engine light came on recently. The mechanic said it was a cylinder 3 misfire and recommend changing the spark plug and coil pack for that cylinder. We did that over the weekend. Now the light is back on and has read 5 codes in the past 12 hours (4 at one time). They are P0303, P0304, P0003, P0403, and P0100. I have looked the codes up and can't discern if any could be caused by one main issue. About a month ago it read a code for the oxy sensor, but it went away and never came back.
View 3 RepliesGeneral misfire when the engine light comes on. This error has been occurring almost daily, sometimes it pins it down to cylinder 3. My wife's nephew who is a mechanic says it could be the sensor, but I have only been getting around 30 mpg though the car seems to run alright. I did go ahead and get the plugs replaced, as I was told it could be a bad plug but the error light still comes on as before and the mileage appears no better. What could this be? I am retired on fixed income and dread the very idea of an expensive diagnostic & repair session with a dealer service. Their solution for about everything wrong has been to replace the gas tank (three times already in the life of the car). Last time that did not fix what was going on with the car..

ODB2 Code: P0300 - Multiple Miss-fire
I have an issue with my Jeep Liberty. It started idling rough with no error codes. about a week later it through the Multiple misfire code. I started by replacing the spark plugs. The old ones were from 20K miles ago and still looked good. Replaced them anyway. I still had the code. I put K44 fuel injector cleaner into the tank and drove it home (2 miles.) The next morning I started it and went in side because I had forgotten something. I came out to extremely thick black smoke. It went away after about 2 minutes, the computer code cleared, and the engine idled perfectly. About 2000 miles later the car is once again idling poorly. I added K44 again and for that tank of gas it ran fine, no code. Once new gas was added it threw the same error code and idles very roughly.
So here are some basic info pieces:
1. 8 tanks of gas from 8 different locations.
2. Adding K44 has shown a direct improvement both times, but more significant the 1st time.
3. New spark plugs
4. New coil packs
5. 2005 Jeep Liberty - 3.7L V6 at 99,872 miles
6. Hopefully unrelated is that the car has a small radiator fluid leak I haven't found. It requires 1/2 gallon every 2K miles or so.
There is no knocking sound, it just sounds like there isn't enough gas. Car responds fine to accelerator. Above 10mph car seems to drive smoothly.
I am having a misfire code on the #1 cylinder. Its not bad but I really want to nip it in the butt before it goes out completely. I was told to try and get some of the older style coilpacks that bolt on and go with them. Can I put them on my 03 passat 1.8t.
View 2 Replies2009 Accent, 1.6L 154,xxx Cylinder two misfire. Engine was rebuilt due to timing belt. Twice. Second time I did it. Replaced plugs, coil packs, all gaskets, (everything new in the head) did a smoke test, compression test 180 psi across all four, used a noid light for coil packs (good) did it at the injectors 1,3,4 did good, but 2 came on then went off. Check resistance and it shows good, replaced injector anyway and the connecter. Still doesn't work. Checked powers and grounds at the rail, good. Good solid voltage. I hooked up a scan tool and tried to shut injector 2 off, no change in RPM or vibration. Scan tool worked for 1,3,4. Used another PCM, still misfire in two. Even jumped a wire from PCM control and 15A inj fuse for the 12V constant (bypassed the harness) and still doesn't work. Also have knock sensor code, just two codes.
