So i just bought my 2003 passat wagone gls 1.8tand it has this "STOP" "BRAKE FAULT" coming up on the dash display and the ABS light and traction control light is on steady and the BRAKE light is flashing....a code was ran for the speed sensor and that was replaced but the light is still on....what could it be?????
View 10 RepliesI had the light and sound show pop up on the display of my 00 2.8 wagon this week. The ABS light, the brake light and occasionally the TC light combined with a big STOP in the display and Brake Failure.
I took it to my local and he did a quick scan and the ABS computer isn't communicating, indicating it's fried.
Stop immediately brake failure fault on Passat? Mine is a w8 4 motion and is riding a wrecker to the dealer.. We'll see what he says...

View 5 RepliesI have a 2000 passat 1.8T and the ABS light and brake light comes on and shortly after the "stop, break fault "message shows up. The warning does not come on every time I drive the car only sometimes. Brake fluid has been topped off and everything else seems fine. Is it a bad sensor somewhere? Something else maybe?
My check engine light is also on and the code is p0118. I replaced the engine coolant temperature sensor but I still get the code. Was there some secret way to replace it that I didn't know about? Something else I should check?
I have gotten a STOP Brake Fault Service Manual warning sign on my car for a couple days and now my car wont start... no ABS light is on...

View 4 RepliesThis morning when I tried to start my passat I got a number of errors. The car was running fine last night. I had to use all of my keys I had to get it started. At first there was a Air Bag Fault message, and the car would turn over but it wouldn't let itself run. After changing keys I got it started, however none of the gears show up on the LCD. At that time I got the stop low oil pressure light.
When I tried to start the car a third time it told me the car was immobilized. Since then I managed to get the car in the driveway, and now it starts up every time, not like it is immobilized, but I still get the air bag fault and the low oil pressure. Further the RPM's go up when the care starts but then the gauge bounces from 0 to around 1,000 when it is started, and the temp gauge is non functional. The engine itself holds a normal even idle.
2004 Passat 1.8t. recently been having this problem where when I turn at 30-40 mph he gets a chime, followed by a "stop" indication on the dash along with "brake failure" displayed.. also the brake symbol comes into view as well... I haven't connected any scanners to it to see what's going on, but I'm not sure if it will show anything.. The CEL isn't on either..
View 2 RepliesI have a 2000 Passat w V6 thats in the shop at the dealers. The ABS/Brake light in the dash is coming on. The dealer says I need a new sensor in the ABS module. This sensor cost $700 plus about $400 in labor. Seems very pricey to me. My question is, could I buy a used ABS module and replace the bad one with the bad sensor myself? Where could I get a used or new ABS module at a good price? Is it hard to change out?
View 6 RepliesBrought my truck (2012 F350) for recall service for one of the faulty exhaust temperature sensors. It took them one week to replace the sensor (!), then when I came to pick it up I got: "Trailer Brake Module Fault" message on the display.
I have never seen this message, since I own the truck (I am original owner). The service adviser said it will take a minute to reprogram the module and took the truck back to the shop. Came back after a while, saying that it didn't work and I need to leave the truck, so another technician can work on it tomorrow. Tomorrow came and I got the call that they reprogrammed the module, but the message still shows up, so they need to work on it (another day!).
As of now they still don't know what is going on. Apparently they broke something while replacing the EGT sensor and how to fix it.
Like the title says, I was driving into work today and it came on three times. It went off for a little each time and then came back on.

View 7 RepliesSo, after the dealer found an open circuit and "fixed" the running gear workshop fault, as you know, it was right back again. Today, it happened as usual. At a light, I turned off the ignition and restarted, as this always resets it and it usually doesn't come back for a day or more.
However, something different happened. After restarting, I got a fault I've never seen. By now, I was on the highway. "Brake Fault, in RED. Stop Vehicle" is what it said. Transmission would not shift out of third, and I'm on the highway with the RPMs up to almost 5 grand just to keep at around 50.
I get off the next exit, which seemed an interminably long way, shut her down, started it back up, proceeded where I had to go, parked, and came home over 30 miles with no further faults.
It's bound to happen again. I'm ready for a trade-in, for sure. 42,500 miles and it's definitely going to get worse.
I was driving last night and all the sudden my brake light came on and then on the display it said "brake fault, STOP" and flashed twice and went off... I didn't stop driving cause it was late and my brakes seemed to work fine and i was driving very fast.
What this could be? i tried to look in my manual and couldn't seem to find anything about this exact problem.
brakes are functioning fine, fluid is OK.
