A high pitched chirping noise comes from the front passenger side wheel ONLY when turning left and ONLY when it's below 40F. Goes away once it warms up.

My '04 started making a high pitched noise from the right front wheel within the last two weeks. It's in the local dealer now and they tell me they suspect a bad right front wheel bearing. I don't see any posts about similar experiences here. I kind of worry that the fact the vehicle is two years old and only has 9200 miles on it may be part of the problem-is infrequent use enough to cause the bad bearings? I drove it infrequently (1-2x/week, sometimes no driving for a week or two) up until the last three months, and now it's being driven daily.
View 10 RepliesWhen it is cold (below 30 degrees) and above about 30mph, there is a loud high pitched squeal (rather like the pitch of a squealing hearing aide)that seems to come form the front drivers side. The colder it is, the louder it is.
When I am able to take it in it is too warm to hear it. What might be causing the noise and will they be able to figure it out if it isn't making the sound?
2007 Sonata SE, 74,000 miles
Just took the car in for brake service (not the dealership) because of what I was convinced was a brake pad sensor warning sound - something I've heard with other cars I've had, and been correct about. However, the tech said the pads were fine.
The sound is a high pitched squeal, intermittent, coming from the passenger front wheel. It can be heard when coasting at moderate speed (30 mph or so), not so much when accelerating, and especially when turning left. It got worse today, with a low grinding sound at moderately slow braking speed that started after about two hours of start and stop driving (house hunting). The car has needed a couple re-alignments and will have to get checked for possible camber? adjustment (rear tires wore badly on outside edges, far less pronounced on front tires). Car has tendency to pull to the right.
Any thoughts on a main culprit here for the squealing-grinding noise or about the possible inter-relatedness of symptoms.
I'm going to take my 2012 Camry SE in for service sometime in November and experienced a high-pitched whine (very low volume) in the front end of their car. This sound seems to be coming from the front passenger side of the car and has surfaced only within the last month or so, between 70-75 MPH. Above and below that speed range I hear nothing. This car has low mileage; after almost two years, it has only about 12,500 miles on it.
I'm wondering whether it's a trans-axle whine, but it is of such low volume I don't think it would be easy for a tech to diagnose. Also, other than the D1T recall, are there any other TSBs that I should be aware of, and any recent Entune updates that need to be applied? And, whether Toyota has a remedy for D1T yet?
Every time I drive on a wet road I can hear my front passenger side wheel going though the water and the driver side makes no noise. What, if any, could be the problem?
View 4 RepliesMy car has recently developed a chirping noise that seem to originate in the passenger side of the engine bay. It is very audible when the car is engaged in drive and at low rpms. At higher rpms it seems to go away. I have a 2002 1.8t with 90k, tip, tb job was done at 75k, right after I got the car couple of years ago.
View 1 RepliesI've been fighting with this noise for probably about 4 months now. I've replaced my strut mounts and strut bearings thinking they were shot, but this didn't even begin to stop the noise. I seem to be hearing it whenever the weight of the car is shifted. The best way to describe the noise is a tapping or high pitched thumping. It's definitely coming from the right corner of the car. Also, I have been hearing a grinding noise from that side when turning the wheel sharply to the left.
I was thinking this was because my brakes needed to be changed and the indicators were scrapping whenever I turned the wheels. I work full time and go to school, so I don't have a lot of time to figure out what's going on. That's why I'm posting here, so I can maybe get some insight before I have time to look at it this weekend. By the way, I have jacked the car up and shook the wheel to check the ball joint and wheel bearing. The wheel was very tight and I didn't feel any play at all.
I recently started getting a light tapping noise coming from the front passenger side tire wheel area. It almost sound like a nail stuck in the tire, but lighter in sound and there is nothing stuck in the tire........
Here's the kicker: It only happens when I turn LEFT!!!! I checked and there is nothing obvious that sticks out to touch the tire when it turns...
I have a 2010 Corolla S Got it brand new in november of 2009. Its been 5 years since I had it and never had this problem.
So this has been happening for a month now, and I can't figure out what it is? It only sounds at first startup of the day when the engine is cold and only sounds off for 1 second right when you start the car.
I owned a 99 f250 a little while ago. Just bought a 2006 crewcab F150 xlt about 2 months ago, and for the past month there has been this unusual grinding or whirring like noise coming from the front passenger side wheel.
I took it to the mechanic and he found a bad wheel bearing on drivers side and replaced it but that wasn't the issue. He could hear the noise but wasn't able to figure out what the actual issue was.
The noise only happens when my foot is on the throttle. (not when coasting) and i also just discovered that it doesn't make any noise at all when put in 4x4.
I've been having issues regarding my front passenger wheel chirping with wheel rotations. It comes and goes with bumps in the road and seems to happen more frequently while gradually turning left and never/barley happens while turning slightly right. It is NOT the wheel bearings, and I suspect it is due to a possible bent spindle. More info in a separate thread : [URL] .....
That issue, while incredible irritating, is being pushed to the wayside.
My more pressing issue has only started over the few weeks. With the windows up and radio off I could hear a whining/whirring noise during the last couple yards of a complete stop. This seemed to be coming from the engine bay more than a wheel well. Uneducated guess would be brake booster? No clue there . . .
Now I'm hearing a creaking/binding/light popping sound that occurs with wheel rotation (both wheels). It is what I would imagine a poly bushing binding and releasing would sound like, or the crunching/creak of stopping hard in snow and slush. It is not a constant sound, but rhythmic slowing with wheel speed. Is this an issue with the caliper guide pins or bushings? I've greased them and properly torqued them about 3k miles ago during my last rotor/pad replacement. It is the only bushing I can think of in our brake system.
There is zero vibration, pulling or negative feel to the braking performance, just this binding/creaking sound.
So, last week, I heard this high pitched squeal coming from the wheel well. At low speeds it seemed. It was in a parking garage.
But then, it disappeared. All of a sudden, I'm reversing into a spot barely touching the brake and it's squealing again.
I then take it again for a spin around the garage, no sound. I reverse again, no sound.
A few days later, I'm pulling out of the garage and the sound is so loud my GF could hear it from within another car behind me. It squeals until I start going faster and I'm on the highway. I get to my destination, ask my friend who is good with cars to check it out. But of course, I couldn't recreate the sound. Tried going slow, backing up, braking, going faster, etc.
So, do you know of a sound that would be very loud one day and completely go away the next? I saw some things about a shim or clip on the brake pad possibly touching the rotor or is loose?
I was driving home from work tonight. It was a rather windy and rainy drive home. Anyways, I started to notice a high pitched squealing from the passenger side. I couldn't tell if this was from the window or coming from a vent.
I tried to slightly crack the passenger side window. The sound wasn't too loud, but just wanted to make sure it wasn't something major.
The chirping sound happens when I go over bumps but not all the time. If I take a short little ride to the store at low speeds it won't happen but as soon as I get driving in the city or on the highway it sounds like a bird on crack back there, really loud as I go over any type of bumps. I searched and learned that it could be the wheel rubbing the caliper but its not that. There is nothing leaking back there and no visible signs of damage or wear. Brakes have plenty of pad left and rotor is good, i check the tire well also and everything is tight.

Starts at 10+mph and is speed variable (faster=louder)... but not effected by applying the brakes (so doesn't seem to be related to the brake assembly)... It doesn't happen all the time... but getting more frequent... annoying...

I have a 2004 Passat 2 wheel drive. I've noticed when going around right hand corners there is a Whop Whop noise seeming to come from my passenger side front tire. If I he really slow you can not hear it while going around corners. But I'm only hearing it going around right corner. I'm not sure what it is. I've went and has my rim and tires looked at. I took it in for a fuel filter to be put on and because I'm going out of town I had them inspect the my car they said nothing.
View 5 RepliesI have a low-mid pitched chunky clunking sound/feel in the front end of my jeep. It MAY be there because I drove over a cattle guard (auto gate for some of you) and one of the iron pieces popped up and hit the under of my car. on the right front underbody. Not sure what it hit. No body damage. A few days later I felt/hear clunking. Not so much on highway. Worse at slower speeds and on more irregular surfaces, bumps in streets/gravel roads.
There is a scratch on one of the stabilizer bars where it loops down near the wheel. The one on the right will move slightly when you give it a good shake. The left one is solid.
I have 2002 BMW 325xi (all wheel drive). For about 2-3 months now there is a squeaky noise coming from passenger side front wheel. It sounds like a really bad and rusty coil spring but the weird part is that that noise only appears in warm weather. It has nothing to do with how much distance I drive. If it is 70 odd degrees or warmer outside, the noise starts. In warm weather, the car does not have to be running/moving to hear the noise. I can just push down the passenger side front and hear the noise. I took to a mechanic and he wants me to replace tie rods, control arm and struts. basically the whole suspension system on the front for this noise (in other words, he does not know what exactly is making the noise, so replace everything)
View 5 RepliesI've got a 2004, V8 with about 65,000 miles. If its 75 or above and the ac is running the HVAC will start this whining or chirping noise. It seems fan speed related. Its coming from the passenger side, not the drivers side as some of the other posts mention with their situation.
View 1 RepliesIt seems to be coming from the front passenger side wheel well area. It's only present during braking and coming to a stop. Seems to be also related to wheel speed. The brake performance doesn't seem to be impacted but it's very embarrassing creaking through a parking lot. The noise doesn't seem to be present on a cold start but once the brakes warm up it really comes to life.
I noticed with both wheels up off the ground that the front passenger side wheel (The side making noise) had more resistance than the drivers side when trying to spin. [URL]...............................
