Alright so this has happened a couple times I don't know what to do and what its from ... My car will randomly turn off while driving! it will beep 3 times and turn off all the dash lights come on and it turns off! and if the radio is on it will turn on it off over and over... But if I turn the key to off and turn it back on it will start right up... What could be causing this problem ?

View 10 RepliesSo as of lately i have noticed what i call a "clunking" noise. It seems to be coming from below the car and i cant tell whether its in the front or the rear, but the best way i can describe it is it sounds like when the Original ABS came out. For example on the first gen ABS you used to have to "reset" it after a hard braking. to reset this you had to put the car into reverse and push the gas and then hit the brakes as to flip some kind of switch cause then you would hear that CLUNK noise.
So to the point I am noticing this noise randomly while i am driving the car and the brakes and calipers are wearing fine and have plenty of pad and rotor left. I have no engine codes on the display and when i run vagcom i get no DTC's. I have cleared out my trunk thinking something in the trunk is bumping around and that didn't solve it. Could it be motor mounts? Downpipe? Worn rubber exhaust mounts? Tranny?

Car feels and responds great, no damage outside and nothing dragging. i really am at a loss.
2002 B5 1.8T, 54,000 miles. When you turn on the A/C it blows hot air. After 10 or 15 minutes of driving it turns icy cold then sometimes returns to hot air.

View 2 RepliesIn the past week, my 2013 Santa Fe has started playing a random 4-note series of beeps while I'm driving. It sounds like it is coming through the audio system. It is a ditty that goes up in scale, 3 short notes followed by a longer one. It sounds a bit like something you'd hear in an old video game. The notes are C-D-E-G, C-D-E-G, where the C, D, and E are short, but the G is held out for two beats.
Nothing appears abnormal- seatbelts are on, doors are closed, xm radio is on (this has happened while tuned to different stations, so it's not just a radio thing). I just had my first oil change the day this started.
I have a 2005 prius with navigation, smart key, hid lights; not sure what the package is called. Today while driving I heard two short beeps that I have never heard before. At first, I thought it was my Ipod or cell phone. I turned off the radio, turned off the climate control and drove until I heard it again. Two barely audible beeps; the second one about 1 second behind the first. I put the car into the diagnosis mode via the nav screen, ran a test and all checked out ok with the exception of the audio h/u has a yellow box with the words "chek" in it. When I press the yellow box it doesn't show any error codes. I'm not too worried about it but it just started happening today.

View 3 RepliesFor a few months, I've noticed a problem with my power steering...that now seems to be getting worse. When driving at 70mph on the highway, I would notice sometimes as I ightsto slow down to exit the highway that my power steering would be gone. I'd get down the exit ramp, hit my first stop light, and usually the power steering would be back on. This would happen intermittently.
It's been happening more often, and I have now found that it doesn't only happen on the highway; yesterday this happened twice at probably 50mph and it took a few blocks for it to reengage. What the cause of this might be?
I have had my Prius for over a year and this has never happened to me before. Two days ago, about 3 minutes after starting driving, the display switched to a rectangle with BRAKING written in the middle with rapid beeps. This flashed very briefly on the display and nothing else happened. There was no one in front of me at a close distance and the cruise control was not engaged. I discarded it as a fluke.

View 1 RepliesI own a 2007 Chrysler Sebring touring. I bought it used with 34,000 miles in 2009, and so far, haven't had too many real problems with it. Unfortunately, I'm rounding the ~65,000 mile mark and some weird things are finally going on. The transmission light comes on for a few days then turns off - for a few weeks one time, then it came back on for a day, and hasn't been back on for a few months. Also the Airbag light will bing on for a few seconds, turn off, then a few minutes later come back on, and this happens randomly. (It also recently threw a wheel weight it seems, but I'm familiar with how to fix that issue!)
A mechanic friend of mine told me that rather than paying money to repair this car, that I should get rid of it - he suggests Chryslers like mine become junkboxes right around 65,000 miles.
My 2015 Subaru Legacy will randomly downshift, when in Automatic, only on LEFT turns! The dealership says there is a sensor that is "overly sensitive" but now it is a safety concern when pulling out into traffic. I never know if it will occur. Most of the time it will shift back into automatic on its own but there have been times where i have had to use the shifter paddles to shift up then it will kick back into automatic. It only has 31,000 miles, bought it used with 18,000 miles. I have also noticed if I don't accelerate slowly, it seems slow to shift automatically and reduce RPM's. I don't want 36,000 mile warranty to bypass without this resolved.
View 19 RepliesProblem solved- update! Found a main vacuum line, (white one), broken right above where the oil filler tube is. I guess if the plenum door is not in the proper position, it screws with the fan? Works like a champ now even with 442,000 miles on this van! --- 1997 aerostar, 3.0. Doesn't matter what I'm using, vent, heater, or AC. When I have the fan switch "on", The fan will shut off, then turn back on whenever it feels like. I've tried turning the controls on and off in any and all ways, and still random fan goes on-off when it's turned on. Is there a sensor somewhere that could cause this? Or what?

While I'm driving, the car would start to beep fast (3-4 beeps per sec), the brake and steering wheel stops working, its very stiff and brake pedal is hard! Along with that, there's 4 lights came on the dash; traction control, abs, brake and tire pressure. All this happens when the car starts to beep, and the beep last anywhere from 2-5 second, constantly!
I checked everything and its normal, gas half tank, keyless key is in my pocket, all doors closed, brake pads looks good, tires are good. I've had this car for 4 years, its at 45k miles.
My 2nd gen 2007 Prius started to show a strange behavior today and I don't find any answer to it. While driving without any cars close, with all seat belts closed and nothing on the passenger seat I started to hear slow paced beeps (approx. 20) then fast paced beeps. When I switch off the car and started it again I got the same beeps after approx. 30 seconds. I never got any visual warning and the OBD reader doesn't show any error code.

My 2008 Dodge Caravan SXT is having A/C problems. The back air works great, all the time...however, the front air randomly turns off and on. It doesn't matter what speed I'm going, what speed the knob is turned to (low vs. high), it just stops blowing. When I'm driving at a faster speed I can feel the cold air barely coming through the vents, but doesn't change when I move the knob. All along, the back A/C works perfectly. I've looked online and found a lot of things about the resistor, blower motor, fuse and WIN module. How I can narrow it down without paying the dealership an arm and a leg to fix things that might not even be the issue?
View 4 RepliesMy in-laws have a Passat with an errant oil sensor that throws warnings even though the engine is "fine" oil-wise. My information on the car is incomplete but I'll do my best - it is is 1999 or a 2000 with about 175k miles, it has the 1.8L turbo engine, the transmission is Tiptronic, the factory radio is installed and has never been removed, and there is nothing actually "wrong" regarding engine oil (it is the correct type, checking it several times shows correct level, no weird non-lubricating sounds from the engine nor anything like overheating, etc).
Every once in a while during all kinds of driving (not related to RPMs, weather, etc.) the oil warning light comes on and a subset of those times is accompanied by a LOUD three beep alarm. Is there any way to tell the car to chill out with the audio alarm and just blink the light? Unfortunately "replace the sensor" isn't an option the owners seem willing to consider, so I'm looking for alternatives.
This has been verified by multiple mechanics over time as being a sensor issue, and there is no oil issue, I just want to attempt to stop the annoying reactions people have when the car constantly beeps at them (ridicule all you like, I am only asking about disabling the beep not both the beep and the light and ONLY in the case of warnings caused by this specific failed sensor, which will never be replaced).
