Receiving three outside beeps while driving. Happen about every 3-5 minutes. No warning lights are on. All doors are closed. Keys batteries were replaced a few months ago.
View 3 RepliesI have a 2005 prius with navigation, smart key, hid lights; not sure what the package is called. Today while driving I heard two short beeps that I have never heard before. At first, I thought it was my Ipod or cell phone. I turned off the radio, turned off the climate control and drove until I heard it again. Two barely audible beeps; the second one about 1 second behind the first. I put the car into the diagnosis mode via the nav screen, ran a test and all checked out ok with the exception of the audio h/u has a yellow box with the words "chek" in it. When I press the yellow box it doesn't show any error codes. I'm not too worried about it but it just started happening today.

View 1 RepliesMy 2nd gen 2007 Prius started to show a strange behavior today and I don't find any answer to it. While driving without any cars close, with all seat belts closed and nothing on the passenger seat I started to hear slow paced beeps (approx. 20) then fast paced beeps. When I switch off the car and started it again I got the same beeps after approx. 30 seconds. I never got any visual warning and the OBD reader doesn't show any error code.

Two days ago, about 3 minutes after starting driving, the display switched to a rectangle with BRAKING written in the middle with rapid beeps. This flashed very briefly on the display and nothing else happened. There was no one in front of me at a close distance and the cruise control was not engaged. I discarded it as a fluke.

While I'm driving, the car would start to beep fast (3-4 beeps per sec), the brake and steering wheel stops working, its very stiff and brake pedal is hard! Along with that, there's 4 lights came on the dash; traction control, abs, brake and tire pressure. All this happens when the car starts to beep, and the beep last anywhere from 2-5 second, constantly!
I checked everything and its normal, gas half tank, keyless key is in my pocket, all doors closed, brake pads looks good, tires are good. I've had this car for 4 years, its at 45k miles.
At times my 08 will beep when I open the driver's door and I have the keys in my hands. The only thing I can assume is that it thinks the key is still in. On occasion this has caused my battery to go flat.
To stop it I just go through the sequence of putting the key back in, put it in D then P then foot on the brake and the off/power/start button, it took me 5 goes to get it back to normal tonight.
I have a 2005 Prius with 64k miles, I bought used from a Toyota dealership, Toyota certified. It was purchased in Nov of 2009. In Nov of 2010, I moved the car onto the grass in my yard to make room for guests in the driveway. It was fairly cold out, but I don't think below freezing.
The battery was at all blue bars, with only the top two green ones not charged.
After I moved the car I turned it off and opened the door to get out. The car started beeping at me as if I had left the key in. However I had the key in my hand. I put the key back in, started, turned it off, took the key out and opened the door and the car started beeping at me. (identical to the sound when you leave the key in)
At the time I reasoned that it must have always done that and went back inside.
My 2005 Prius is 6 and a half years old and I have encountered a problem with an outside alarm that is one beep about 2 seconds long. I have checked my manual and I have found two possibilities, but, they don't seem to apply. Last week was the first time I had to go in and reset my maintenance needed reminder because my service station forgot to reset it after the last oil change. I am afraid in the severel attempts to do this I might have reset something else as well!
The outside 2 second beep occurs when the car is in my garage and the car is NOT locked. It also only occurs if I am outside of the car and have the key fob with me. It happens with either key fob near the car. If I lock the car I don't have a problem. It is as if everytime I come near the car with my key fob that it is reminding me that the car is unlocked.
2007 Prius ... When I hit about 45 mph the skid detector light goes on, the car beeps like crazy, and the accelerator will not work until speed has been reduced to about 25mph. This is on dry road, definitely NOT under skid conditions.
History: Front driver's side rim and tie rod were damaged. New tie rod was installed and I drove it on the spare tire just fine. The Tire pressure monitoring system light was on, but no skid warnings. I bought a replacement rim, had a used tire put on to match the tread of the current tires. I then took the car to get an alignment. After that I experienced the skid control problem.
I told the alignment shop about the problem and they indicated that the TPMS and skid sensor alarms may be connected, and that the 1 replacement tire may be causing the problem. I went home, rotated that tire to the back, and did a test run. 10 miles, 60 mph, no problems. Next morning I'm heading to work and the skid problem comes back, and I'm stuck doing 25 on the highway.
When I start the car and get the Ready light, I try to shift into P or R, or anything, it doesn't shift. Then it beeps once. I've tried turning everything off. Exiting, locking, unlocking and retrying.
I get the Ready light and the gas engine even starts, it just won't shift. But beeps once after I try to shift into any gear.
I own a 2009 Prius and have had occasional issues with the car not starting in cold weather and have had to jump start it a few times. Fortunately that was successful. Today I noticed a new problem. In the past we have had problems with the car making a beeping noise, and the car with key symbol would blink. I have ignored that issue as it only lasted a short time. Today the car was beeping and when pushing the start button the car turned on but the dash lit up with the red triangle and exclamation point. We have had this happen before and would press the parking brake, then release it, push power button and it would shut off and we would restart without problems. Today the right headlamp went out followed by the left one about 30 seconds later. The fuel indicator began blinking as well as the drive/park indicator on the far left of the dash. The car eventually went dead although had very little light for overhead and glove box lights. The brake lights also worked. We have 125,000 miles on it with the original battery. Does this mean the battery finally went. If so how will we be able get the car out of the garage?
View 6 RepliesI bought a new auxiliary battery online and installed it. I reset the driver's side power window. But my CD changer now beeps four times, all the lights turn green and orange, and I cannot play a CD from the changer or eject any of the discs. Both discs currently stuck in it are store bought Third Eye Blind CDs with no stickers, labels, etc.
I'm assuming that the CD player needs to be reset. Someone in another thread mentioned unplugging the battery for 20 seconds, while someone else said I need to enter a code that I can get from the dealer. I can go without the changer but the beeping is maddening.
Alright so this has happened a couple times I don't know what to do and what its from ... My car will randomly turn off while driving! it will beep 3 times and turn off all the dash lights come on and it turns off! and if the radio is on it will turn on it off over and over... But if I turn the key to off and turn it back on it will start right up... What could be causing this problem ?

View 2 RepliesIn the past week, my 2013 Santa Fe has started playing a random 4-note series of beeps while I'm driving. It sounds like it is coming through the audio system. It is a ditty that goes up in scale, 3 short notes followed by a longer one. It sounds a bit like something you'd hear in an old video game. The notes are C-D-E-G, C-D-E-G, where the C, D, and E are short, but the G is held out for two beats.
Nothing appears abnormal- seatbelts are on, doors are closed, xm radio is on (this has happened while tuned to different stations, so it's not just a radio thing). I just had my first oil change the day this started.
Error codes -
P0674 - Glow Plug N0. 4 Circuit Malfunction
P0475 - Exhaust Backpressure Control Valve Malfunction
P0381 - Glow Plug Indicator Circuit Malfunction
how to fix?
I get these beeps continuously for the first ten minutes of driving.
I took a curve pretty aggressively with my worn out tires. I was neither braking nor accelerating. The skid control icon flashed a few times, but there was no beeping. I am pretty sure the flashing was from VSC activation. I thought this is accompanied with beeping from the buzzer. Has this been changed for the newer models?
View 5 RepliesI definitely thought this was because my fob batteries were low, because 2010 Prius started beeping three beeps while driving last week, but while parked in the garage (OFF), with both fobs very far away from the car, it's beeping three beeps every 20 seconds. I even locked it using the fob, and it's still beeping every 20 seconds.
I've got two new fob batteries on order, but I worry the 12v is working overtime. What else could it be??? My sister's 2009 Prius is also parked in the driveway..
My car have sound like motor running during I drive while i turn off the radio and I try to get where is the sound come from it seem like near driver seat, by the ways what is that sound ? it happen around 2 second only and after a while it happen again....
View 2 RepliesEvery time I get out of my 2012 prius and close the door with the key in my pocket, engine running, i get three exterior beeps. if i then open and close any other door while outside the car, i get three more beeps. i can imagine this is toyota's way of reminding me that the car is running and key is not inside. is there a way to disable this annoyance, either myself or at the dealership?
