I have a 2007 passat and I have now changed 2 wheel bearings trying to find out what this noise is, when I am driving at 50+ mph I can hear like a echoing sound coming from the back left a lot sounds like its coming from the top left of rear view. I can't think what else it could b and I can't just keep replacing wheel bearings with genuine parts ....
View 8 RepliesI got a brand new 2011 Mazda 3 i Sport 4 door sedan in May and it's been great so far. Lately though, I have started to hear a sound coming from the back left hand side of the car. It really closely resembles the sound of tapping one's finger on a counter top. When I'm stopped, there's no noise but when I go I can hear it. As I go faster it goes faster as well and when I slow down it slows down. What is going on?

When the temperature is above 0 Celsius the bolster makes a scrunchy squeak every time I lean back, accelerate, or take off from a stop.
It would appear to be the supplemental air bag material rubbing against the foam or upholstery of the seat.
Toyota says this should be under warranty, but it has been too cold out lately to demonstrate to the service dept.
I know that I could fix it by removing the factory seat cover and tweaking the air bag placement somewhat, but this is not as easy as it sounds, potentially dangerous, and if it is under warranty, I'd prefer the "experts" to address the problem.
On my way into work this morning, I started to notice a rattling sound coming from my left rear wheel. By the end of my :45 min drive, it was a loud continuous bang. After limping the car to my office, I inspected the recently repaired rear shock to find the bolts securing it to the vehicle were gone!
View 12 RepliesLast night I noticed a weird sound coming from the left side (alternator side) of my engine. Took a video.... I have already done my timing belt replacement about 10k miles ago. Oil is full, no leaks. Have the pcv block so it has a slight putting sound (as stated from their install manual). You can hear an inconsistent hollow growling sound that happens at idle but also under revs. Didn't notice the sound this morning but a lot last night.

I have a 2001 1.8t tip wagon(75k) that that is starting to worry me. It makes a tapping sound (coming from back of valve cover) AFTER it is warmed up at idle. When the RPMs go over 1,000, the sound goes away. Is this the cam chain adjuster or tensioner??? Also, when the engine first starts up it makes a similar noise , only louder, for the first couple of seconds.

View 6 RepliesI have a 2001 Toyota Sienna with 115,000 miles on it. After about 15 minutes of driving, a vibrating buzzing dentist-drill like sound begins to come from the back left of the car (this is also where I put in the gas if that has anything to do with it). I do not know what it sounds like from the outside but its definitely a buzzing sound from the inside. As I increase in RPMs the buzzing sound gets more and more high pitched.
I do not drive this car very much, but about a month ago I was driving down a mountain using the breaks a lot and the buzzing sound started for the first time with a rubber smell. At this point because of the rubber smell, we just thought it was an issue with the breaks and after taking a 20 minute rest, the car drove the rest of the 400 miles or so perfectly fine without any buzzing. I don't use the car very much because I am in college, but when I do, like I said, after 15 minutes this buzzing starts.
My back left door doesn't unlock when I use my lock/unlock button on my key (works sometimes, but for the most part it does not)... What might be causing this or how I could fix it??
View 1 RepliesI've got an '04 Passat and I'm having trouble with the back-up lights. The fuse was blown (which I replaced), and I just finished swapping out the bulbs. Only one of the bulbs looked burned out.
The lights are still not working, although I get a very faint glow from the left side when in reverse. I'm really puzzled that I'd get a faint light from just one side.
I've been hearing this ticking noise coming from the back of my prius when driving. i can only hear it when my windows is down and i'm passing by an object that reflects the sound so i can hear it., like if i was driving by a car, building, median with barriers etc. It sound like pop rocks candy literally but much slower.
View 7 RepliesI heard a fan sound coming from the back seat after driving in traffic for 45 minutes. It was coming from the vent in the back seat. I didn't know that that vent had an electric fan. I assume it was the battery being cooled. I have never heard this sound before.
View 5 RepliesI have had my 07' Prius about a month now and have noticed a odd sound coming from the left front of the car when accelerating. When I accelerate I hear an off metallic crackling sound. It almost sounds like marbles swishing around. The sound is coming from the left side of the car in the engine bay. If I had to guess it sound like it's coming from under the invertor area. The sound only happens when I am accelerating at a moderate pace.

View 29 RepliesGot my Prius v 5 in June and since then, there is the most obnoxious rattle coming from the back seat (passenger side). It's intermittent, depending on who's in the car with me. When I'm alone, it happens about 80% of the time. When my kids are in the car, it depends on which one and what seat they choose.
I've taken it to Toyota twice, and they're unable to detect the problem. I'm convinced that this is because the weight distribution is difficult to replicate. It is seriously making me crazy and I'm ready to turn the car in and get another (NOT a Toyota).
I have no water inside the car or leaking atleast that I can find. But when im parking the car, and navigating into my spot; or on an incline or decline or come to a stop i hear swishing coming from the back of the car, like water in a bath tub. Would think its the gas tank but that seems odd, as i never heard that noise in any of my other dubs.. Heard this noise or think maybe water is trapped somewhere. I am really not diggin the fact that my dealer is gonna take the car apart.

It sounds as if it were a bunch of walnut shells being crushed and swished in a coffee can. Is that something that sounds like it could be normal? Today was the first time I drove with the windows down and heard it. I'm wondering if it has always been there... it sounds very loud though. It echos very loudly back into the car from nearby things as I drive by... It sounds to me a lot like when you would take a wind up toy past it's point were you weren't supposed to...

When going over uneven pavement, up inclines or over bumps, the car makes a creaking sound, like a cross between stepping on an old floorboard and basketball sneakers scuffing the court. It sounds and (feels?) like its coming from the back end, but I do know the front left wheel bearing needs replacement. I recently had a right front caliper replaced after a friend blew out the tire and crunched the rim on a bad pothole. It went a good 20 miles, give or take, on a donut in between repairs.
I know this is not good for the alignment of the car. Trust me, I did not approve this usage. Along with the creaking is a sound similar to bottoming out, although it happens when going over bumps, and I know for a fact nothing is truly bottoming out. It's going into the mechanics as soon as I get to a vacation day from work, in the meantime, is it an issue that needs to be fixed before a drive another mile, or can it wait a few days? My average usage of the car is about 20 miles/day. What it might be? I have a hard time changing my own oil, but my research suggests maybe tire rods, ball joints, arm bushings? Or even worse, gulp struts?
What is the cause for a clicking sound coming from Left hand side wheelwell area when I make semi tight Left hand turns from a parked/stationary position?
