Passat (B6) :: Could AC Causes Blockage Of Cabin Airflow?

Aug 22, 2007

After more than an hour of continuous AC operation, something seems to be blocking the air flow coming out of the vents. Could it be ice forming on the evaporator?

Passat (B5) :: P0171 Engine Code - Mass Airflow Sensor Failed?

I've been getting this error code recently ("Fuel Trim,Bank1 System too Lean"). I have a Scanguage, which let me get the error code, and I used it to reset the message - it came back about a week later. I took it to a local repair shop after the second time, but as I'd already cleared the message, he couldn't do anything. It came back about a week later, and this time I took the vehicle in as soon as the yellow light showed up (without connecting the Scanguage).

The mechanic said that he found both P0171 and P0172, and that the problem was a loose vacuum hose AND a failing Mass Airlow Sensor. They reattached the hose and cleaned the sensor, but said that the latter fix may not last - the light came back on two days later. I took it in again (this time, checking the codes, and found only P0171) and he said this confirms the problem with the sensor and he'll have to replace it ($280 for the part, plus labor, less a discount on the labor equivalent to the labor he put in to clean the sensor.)

Prius (2004-09) :: 2005 - AC Malfunction / Possible Blockage Or Really The Compressor?

It's one of those days again when the temps are starting to get hot here in Austin, Tx. My AC started acting up during the Spring and first started working fine then after about 10-15 minutes of driving the air starts to blow warmer. The air doesn't go back to cold unless the car has been parked and off for several hours or overnight, and even after that it only blows cold for 10-15 mins again.

Well, I didn't have the time/money to mess with it. The recent May it stopped cooling completely. I recently took it to a local shop and we look at it together. Drained the system and the mechanic was saying it's pulling some air and a little refrigerant. Well, we recharged the system and we could only put in 0.5 lbs and the Low side just maxes out. The system is supposed to hold 1.06 lbs so we were left scratching our heads.

Decided to check for leaks, discharged the system again and hooked up a vacuum pump and see if the gauges will go below 0 for negative pressure and they never did. So the shop doesn't think my system has a leak. They could have used a dye to check but didn't have any on the shelf at that moment.

I also have a DTC code of B1476 and we followed the shop manual. Fans blow into the engine and sometimes we had the bubble but couldn't add more refrigerant due to the Low side being maxed.

My father thinks I most likely have a blockage somewhere in the system. If so, how I can check for this? Is there a specific place or two I can look to find out the system is blocked?

Some people on the form seem to have AC problems, including some with the B1476, and others that couldn't find the problem very well. I'm worried that replacing the compressor wouldn't solve the problem, especially if there is a blockage or something. I usually do a lot of mechanic work but I've never actually worked on an AC system before. I would love to dive into this, even if I can only do part of it and then send it to the Toyota dealer for a flush and charge.

Civic - Honda :: 2003 - How To Clean Blockage Between Radiator And Reservoir

I have 2003 Civic, 125K. I am having an issue that the hose that connects radiator and coolant reservoir keeps disconnected at the top of radiator. I am sure this is due to pressure build up in radiator, and radiator cap functions. I also have seen lower level of coolant in my radiator but reservoir is full (of course the hose I mentioned above is connected!). I took my Civic to a shop and they bled radiator but didn't fix the problem. I am certain there is a blockage somewhere in between reservoir and radiator. Would flushing the cooling system fix the problem? I just want to give bit more specific information to my shop.

Chevrolet - Surburban :: 2000 - No Coolant Flow / Blockage In Engine?

I do not have coolant flow. Changed Waterpump and Thermostat 2 times, hoses, new radiator and even clutch fan. I even cut out thermostat all together just to make sure that wasn't causing any flow problems. I flushed out heater core and hoses.

I'm thinking i have a block in engine not allowing flow. only thing left i can think of... So currently i have water pump removed and my question is: There is 4 open ports, 2 on each side for which the waterpump covers and pumps coolant through. Is the coolant pumped in 2 holes on one side and then comes out other 2 entry ports on other side after flowing through engine block?????

I tried to flush with waterhose, but can only get water to come out on same side of the 2 ports. NOTE: The port are ones square and other circle bore, one on each side. Flushing through square port and water comes out circle port.

First off new jetta owner. I changed the thermostat. There is no heat coming into the car upper radiator hose hot lower hose is cold & seems there is no pressure. I bought the book to repair the car but it doesn't give me troubleshooting directions other than it might be the water pump or a blockage in the radiator.

Passat (B5) :: Exhaust Smell In Cabin - Possible Causes?

I just got my 2000 Passat back from the body shop. I rear-ended an SUV about a month ago and had my hood, front bumper, left headlight, A/C compressor, and radiator replaced.

HOWEVER, now when I let 'fresh air' into the cabin, I smell a strong exhaust smell. When I push the 'recycle air' button, the smell goes away. This leads me to think that somehow my exhaust pipe was cracked/damaged in the collision and is now spewing exhaust gas into the engine compartment - and thus when I allow fresh air (front the engine compartment) into the cabin...I am getting toxic exhaust blown in my face!

Where should I look for signs of an exhaust leak and is there an easy 'trick' to find the leak?

Passat (B5) :: 1998 - Water In The Cabin

Excellent forums. New to this but just picked up a 1998 Passat that had a few problems. Problem I am now looking to solve is water in the cabin. Some of it was getting in through ros door that was jammed shut because the bottom was full of glass and debris blocking the drain holes but there also appears to be some getting in the front. The glove box is a little damp. My guess is that it has something to do with the pollen filter seal that I have read of. Can't find any advise re this or a recall (P9) that is referred to.

Need to then fix the exhaust that is blowing, clean it up and I'll have a solid, reliable car ready for the winter.

Passat (B5) :: How To Access Cabin Air Filter

So, I just dropped a bit more money that I wanted to for an oil change at a drive-through place. The tech offered to replace my dirt cabin air filter. I figured that I could do it myself for much less (or even just tap the dirt out of my current one). How to access the filter, and how easy or difficult the process is?

Passat (B6) :: Location Of Cabin Filter?

I have already seen the post which shows a diagram from the B5. Exactly where the access is. In my car I open the glove box and there is another pull down compartment that holds the manual. Does this compartment need to be removed? If it does how do you do it. I dont see anything that looks like the diagram given.

Passat (B7) :: Below 20 Won't Defrost The Windows Or Heat The Cabin?

Seems below 20 my car cannot defrost the windows or heat the cabin. It has been 0-10 the last couple days here in SE WI. The coolant temp gauge is straight up right in the middle. Some how coolant isn't flowing through the heater core. Could this be a design failure? It doesn't seem to matter what settings are on dash. I have tried with ac on and off, recirculation on and off, full defrost on, fan on all speeds, have also tried a combination of cracked windows open.

Are other people experiencing this as well? Is a call to the dealer in order?

For ref car is 2014 tdi se with 34,000miles.
