I notice that when I jerk the steering wheel left and right fast (1-2 inches) I hear small knocking sound. Seems to have narrowed it down to the right side steering rack inside the booth.
View 4 RepliesCar is in for knocking sound made when you are stopped and you turn the wheel quick from left to right. Also does the same thing when you hit a bump. Dealer is saying it was always that way I say bs. 2008 prius.
View 1 RepliesI have a 2006 Mazda 3 Hatchback. We recently had new tires put on and an alignment both were needed pretty bad. Before the work the car had a pretty bad vibration to begin with. After the car ran smooth for about a week and then my described it having a vibration and thought something fell off. We took it back to the shop and they checked it over and rebalanced the tires and suspected that maybe a weight or two fell off.
The car ran fine again and then this past weekend I was driving and noticed that around 60-70 the car vibrated but not consistently, as it slowed from 70 to 60 it seemed to vibrate more. I also noticed around 25 that it had the vibration occasionally and could feel a slight jerking or tug to the left.
My guess is I have a broken or cracked motor mount since its not consistent at any speed. My reasoning is that at the lower as I accelerate the engine rpms are causing the jerking and as I slow down the decrease in rpms is causing the vibration.
I have a 2003 Volkswagen Passat, and I'm having some trouble with it. When I turn the steering wheel, there is a groaning sound both to the left and right. the other problem is when I'm accelerating slowly up an incline and turning the steering wheel, there a type of clicking sound I hear and feel on my accelerator. By the way, it's a V6 engine, Front wheel drive.

Just fixed it running with a tuneup, but now I noticed that when I turn the steering wheel slightly left at all, I get a sort of small roar and it may just be me but the car seems tense. It feels and sounds like a bad power steering pump, but it turns right fine, no noise or anything. I do not think it's a wheel bearing. Could this car have rack and pinion steering and that is going bad?
View 1 RepliesStarting about 100 miles ago I began getting a knocking sound from my left front wheel, which was not very noticeable at first, but now is. There is one knock with each rotation of the wheel that can be felt a little bit through the steering wheel. I suspect either the wheel bearings or a CV joint. But one thing confuses me--when under heavy acceleration or while braking, the sound & feeling almost completely disappear. I would not have guessed to get that behaviour from either of the 2 problems I suspect. Do one of these problems usually exhibit this kind of behaviour?
View 12 RepliesIn July I noticed there was knocking in the front left wheel when that wheel was turning either left or right AND went over slight/heavy bumps..it sounded like some metal knocking....i had my mechanic put the car on the lift to check for any VISUAL problems, and he didnt find anything wrong...said it was probably the bushings inside...so yesterday the knocking got much worse and the ride sucked...so i put the car up again and found out that the left axle needed replacing, which i did..so the harsh ride went away but the left wheel knocking is still there...WHAT COULD THIS BE?? Im thinking that maybe it was this problem that caused my axle to break... [IMG] [URL].....
View 5 RepliesI am hearing a weird knocking with every rotation of the left front wheel and I know it is not the cv joints. I replaced the wheel bearings on the car a week ago . I think it maybe the brakes have got loose and hitting the rotor or the wheel might be loose but I'm not really sure and it knocks faster with acceleration.

When my vehicle is stopped or in motion at low speed, if I turn the steering wheel, I hear a knocking out at the sound towards the front of the vehicle. How concern should I be?
I have 2013 Prius, small Jerk and make "click" sound when I go from Park to Neutral.
It happen Only first time in morning, the temperature is about 78/82 degree F. So its not cold issue after that It runs little bit, like grocery store or gas station no Jerk or no sound.
It has 42000 Miles now.
I have a 2000 VW Passat 1.8T and when I am driving and hit the gas all the way its like the car does a small jerk and then proceeds to go. Nothing too hard but def. noticeable. I just installed a boost gauge (autometer) and I am running a nuespeed chip. The PSI is maxed out @ 6-7psi. I also changed the mass air flow sensor car ran fine and now these problems started happening.

The noise isn't there (i think) when making a normal turn. No noise either when car is stationary when I crank full left/right. Are the CV joints dying? I find it hard to believe that both sides are dying and with such low mileage...

It still drives but is rapidly getting worse with frequency and we are on a road trip on the Oregon Coast with young kids and limited local mechanics. It seems like something as simple as a loose connection but before digging in to check electrical connections .....

It sounds like that cartoon "rubber being stretched" sound or maybe a little like plucking an overly tightened string. It doesn't affect driveability but I've been dealing with this for quite some time and I'm trying to sell it now... it's a major buyer turn off.

I thought I would be proactive so I bought the front ball joints and have plans to install them but recently I starting hearing (and feeling) a clicking sound in the front LEFT when I make sharp turns to the left and hit small bumps now and again. I jacked up the front end and am able to get 1/4" of movement front to back (top to bottom so not steering) in the wheel.
I narrowed it down to the hub. I took it apart and it is most likely a sealed unit so no adjustment is possible....that I can see.I pulled out the locking hub and got as far as I can to know there is not an adjustment. Need to confirm that it indeed is a sealed bearing and if so what are the part number(s) I may need to repair it.
I've been having an issue with the heater (climate control system) in my 2013 Passat TDI (Highline). The air coming out of all vents except the one to the left of the steering wheel is not hot at all. Basically all vents (including feet vents) are bringing in cold winter air while only one vent is bringing in heated air. I called the dealer and have scheduled an appointment to have it looked at soon but with temperatures dropping fast it is getting pretty uncomfortable, and I would like to know what could be causing this problem before I go in. Also the car is still under warranty and I will expect the dealer to cover all labor and part replacement costs. I just want to be ready to call out any claims they may make in order to push these costs onto me. They have been a very good dealer so far but it's better to be prepared.

After limping the car to my office, I inspected the recently repaired rear shock to find the bolts securing it to the vehicle were gone!
View 12 RepliesMy brakes were terrible and finally got roders and pads for front yesterday ... well the pad on passenger side was like not there anymore almost metal on metal and driver side was not close to being that bad but like driving down road there was a slight hi pitch tick that only occured when steering wheel was slightly tilted left (counter clockwise).
We redid front pads and roders (did bad not to long ago) and now there a terrible rubbing sound and it only occurs when again wheel tilted left or making a left hand turn cant figure it out thought it was the wire clip to hold caliper in place but that's clearing rim .... it sounds like metal on metal and driving me nut was driving last night and after awhile it did go away but i have feeling it going to happen again when i drive it today ...

A few things I noticed on the car, While driving I hear this clicking sound from somewhere behind the steering wheel. It sounds as if it's a relay
clicking on and off. The funny thing is it happens at odd times, sometimes very frequently, sometimes not as much. I tried with the A/C on and off and it seems to make no difference. Is it related to the electro-mechanical steering? Funny thing is, I remember hearing similar sounds from other Passats. I had test driven...
door and panel piece in the car is rattling, hopefully things will "settle in" a bit after a while. Are the screws that attach the trunk to the rails supposed to be body colored? This is an interesting touch.
Wife bought an '06 GS300. Not a bad car, but isn't my 2000 Camry either.... Of course I pick my Camry to the Lexus. I noticed driving it from the day she bought it with 75K on it, it has a jerk or detent when the steering wheel is brought back to center. On the road it drives me nuts, cause I was gifted at driving a car without tossing the passengers back and forth while going down the hwy and in the twisties. I turn and return, I don't try to crack sniff my way down the road. So the dealer can't feel it, the wife feels it some, and low and behold today, I bumped into a co-worker with the same model/year. She feels it too.
View 5 RepliesSo...I'm driving home yesterday and hit my left turn signal when all I get is a fast clicking sound. The light on the dash did not light up at all. Right signal is working fine.
Checked it out in the driveway -- my left signal is totally out. No front, rear or dash light when I hit the left turn signal. When I hit the hazard switch, I get only a right blinking light. The right turn signal functions as normal.
I thought this was probably a bad bulb so I replaced both the front AND the rear bulbs. Got no love - same results.
