I have 2013 Prius, small Jerk and make "click" sound when I go from Park to Neutral.
It happen Only first time in morning, the temperature is about 78/82 degree F. So its not cold issue after that It runs little bit, like grocery store or gas station no Jerk or no sound.
It has 42000 Miles now.
I notice that when I jerk the steering wheel left and right fast (1-2 inches) I hear small knocking sound. Seems to have narrowed it down to the right side steering rack inside the booth.
View 4 RepliesFirst time Lexus and RX350 owner. Not familiar with the new type of shift gear. When I shifted the gear from Park to Reverse straight down instead of moving to the right first, the vehicle would jerk and make a thud sound. Not sure if this would have damaged anything. After I have get used to moving the gear to the right first before shifting down, I would still sometimes have this jerk/thud. But if I do the whole shift movement (shift the right first) real quick then the chance of getting the jerk/thud is much less. Is it a manufacture defect or just I am not doing it properly?
View 5 RepliesI picked up a 2016 F250 Powerstroke in the first of March. I owned a 2011 before and loved it.
The 2016 has been great so far, but I've noticed a sound that wasn't present in my 2011.
When the transmission is warmed up, I get a "cla-click" sound from the transmission area when sifting from park to reverse. It doesn't do it all the time and I can only hear it, not "feel" it.
This AM I heard a similar click sound when I came to a complete stop. I only heard it while stopping, not while taking off. I could repeat it almost every time I stopped. I was in drive the whole time I heard the click sound while stopping.
What it may be? I know sounds are one of the hardest things to communicate/diagnose.
I'm beginning to have trouble with my 2004 Prius starting after hitting the button. The red triangle comes on and it will only go to park or neutral, I can't get the car to go off after pressing the start button, after a few minutes it does something then I'm able to drive . I've had this happen probably 3-4 times in the last 6 months.
As of right now the car has 356,000 miles on it. I'm guessing it might be the 12v battery. Since, I put about maybe 300miles a week on it compared to his 1-2,000 /week we were hoping this car might last at least till the other is paid off.
After getting on the highway, the red triangle of death, the amber ABS and the VSC lights came on, and little exclamation point came on on millage/audio screen, while battery power went down from high blue to one blue bar. Pulled car over to parking lot, and put in park. After putting it in park, the car would not go out of neutral, but the power still worked.

1. Come to a stop, foot on break
2. Put car into Neutral, make sure Neutral is lit up
3. Then press the Park button.
They said this is better for transmission. Didn't see a mention of it in the manual, and have no problem doing this. Or are you just coming to a stop and then hitting the Park button, skipping the Neutral step?
On the drive home today I noticed a new sound on my 14 300h. On quiet subdivision streets, every time I press the brakes I hear a 'click', almost like a relay engaging, before the brakes start slowing down the car. I think it may be a relay but I never noticed this before. The sound is definitely from inside the engine compartment. Noticed this sound on 300h? It is very faint but repeatable with the brakes. I only hear it with the radio off.
View 14 RepliesI have a '94 E4OD trans in my '53 F100. It uses an analog MLPS for the gear selection indicator, Neutral Safety Switch, and Backup light.
My MLPS Neutral Safety Switch shows continuity in Neutral, but not in Park, I need to be able to energize the starter solenoid in both Park & Neutral.
Shouldn't the MLPS show continuity in both Park & Neutral?
Have read threads on car wash issues but have only had the dreaded red triangle flash with no problems as a result. Tuesday, however, got ALL the lights on and now car will not go past warm up phase and only goes in neutral or park. Lights come on, clock reads correct time, and radio works. Tried a jump to aux battery, a reset of the main hybrid battery and finally had my baby towed to the local dealer. 2 days later they are telling me the transmission needs to be replaced. They say I have an irreparable short in the transmission and the replacement is $5000. With no issues with transmission and only two bars magenta in color on the battery level showing is this a transmission issue or a battery issue. Can't say I have had great luck with the local dealer on previous maintenance so my confidence is not high. Love my girl but unsure whether the car is worth this repair at 8 years old and 183,000 on the odometer.

I wonder how I'd be letting the dealer tear apart my dash. The car has been on the road a full 2 months... First new car with dash rattle.
The car is a 2005 Prius II hatchback @ 70,000 miles. I like my local garage and they have a good reputation but bad things keep happening. I'm ready to lose my temper but I don't want to. Here's the summary:
3 weeks ago - Started getting the red triangle of death. Had trouble starting. Finally, the car would start, but only go into park or neutral. Towed to garage. Garage put in a new 12 V battery. The car drove away from the garage nicely.
I have a 2000 VW Passat 1.8T and when I am driving and hit the gas all the way its like the car does a small jerk and then proceeds to go. Nothing too hard but def. noticeable. I just installed a boost gauge (autometer) and I am running a nuespeed chip. The PSI is maxed out @ 6-7psi. I also changed the mass air flow sensor car ran fine and now these problems started happening.
View 11 Replies2011 Prius II, purchased 2/2012. Driving down the highway, and the car pops itself into Neutral and the check hybrid system warning light comes on on. Had to have it towed to the closest dealership who pretty much told me it must have been my fault; I must have hit the park button driving down the road. However, about an hour prior to getting on the highway, we were driving down the road, heard a beep and started decelerating. I noticed the car had some how ended up in Neutral. Shifted it back to drive kept on our merry way. Half hour later we pull into a gas station, and the park button is not working. The only way we could get the car into park was by turning the car off (pushing the power button).
Once we got back in the car, we checked the park button and it seemed to be working again, so we took off down the highway. We only got about a mile before the car popped back into neutral, the check hybrid system light came on, and we could not keep the car in drive (by shifting it back into drive) because within one second the car would pop back into neutral. The day previous to all this, my car had just had its 5k mile maintenance.
The next day I didn't even make it out of my drive way before the car pops itself back into neutral, but no codes or anything pop up. Put it back into park and drive to work without further incidents. I bring the car to the dealership where I purchased it and they opened a ticket with Toyota drive it for 100 miles and cannot recreate the issue and Toyota is unaware of any issues with park button or the spontaneous neutral shifting. This was 2 weeks ago.
Over the last few months I've noticed that there was a small 'Jerk' from the car when pulling away at low revs. It seemed to happen around 1200 RPM/20 MPH put only when pulling away very gently. It has been getting worse in the past two weeks. The car needs a service and I was going to get the fault looked at when in for service. Last night the 'ESP OFF' and the 4WD fault indicator came on (4WD lamp flashing). Since the fault lamps have illuminated, the car has stopped 'Jerking'.

The other day I was taking it in for its 10,000 mile maintenance, and I pulled out a fuse that I connected my DRL lights with the Main power (so the drl lights would be on with the head lights). The car was on and the check hybrid system light came on. The car would not move only stayed in park and neutral. I had Toyota care come pick it up and they said that if there's any issues that the warranty won't cover it. How I can get the warranty to cover any damages if there is any. The tow truck driver said he thought the car Might think it's being stolen because I did unplug the battery for about 15 minutes to try to reset the check hybrid system.
View 19 Replies04 Kia Optima (116,000miles) will drive ok for 20 min. or so (last time 10 miles) I'll hit a bump, stop, turn a corner, or drive on hills (basically any condition) and it suddenly acts up after a small jerk (engine light comes and goes and I cannot get anyone to read codes correctly). I have to drive with my foot on the gas at stops if it gets really bad and it wont come down from above 40mph unless I break and feels like it wants to stall when trying to accelerate again after stops and difficult to sometimes get past 30/40mph, Once shut off, It has trouble starting, but will start.
I have had the PO335Crank shaft position sensor replaced three times, (last time by dealer) New battery, new spark plugs, the throttle body was cleaned, and high octane gas cleaner in the tank as well. Every time I take it in (6 or 7 times, different places), they say "it's not acting up right now so we don't know" .... I am curious about broken flexpipe..
I have a 2012 GLS automatic with 78,000 miles on it. Till now I never had any issues but recently I started having issues with starting the car. Its taking few tried to get it started. This happened 3 times and I got it checked at 2 places and they said everything (battery, starter, alternator) looks OK and they may not be able to find the issue until car breaks down as issue looks intermittent.
Later one time, I was driving on local road and car kept moving but I felt a small jerk like engine is stopping or gear shifting...and RPM fell to 0 but car kept moving. I stopped on the shoulder and turned off the ignition. After few trials, car started again and moved fine. This same issue happened today morning on the fwy when I am driving at 70 mph. It started after few trials.
I have had my car for a few months now and over the last week or two I have noticed a sound coming from the rear. It happens when the car is shifted from park to drive, as well as the car lowering an inch. Is there something wrong with the car or is this normal?

View 1 RepliesI drive a 2002 Accent GL, automatic transmission with only 86,000 on it. For a while now I've been having transmission issues where the car will jerk violently when shifting or starts to rev in certain gear or in park. It also doesn't seem like it knows what gear it wants to be in half the time when I accelerate. Recently, while driving somewhere, it got real worse. It started revving and jumping and redlining and just going crazy while I was driving. I turned the car off and waited a while and turned it back down and it seemed to calm the issue a bit.
But I am afraid to drive right now. It's not the fluid. I've changed it twice in the past two years. Never works. I've seen issues like this on here before. If it IS the transmission needing to be replaced, why so soon with just 86,000 miles on it? And would having the transmission rebuilt be a better choice, cost-wise, but still just as effective?
