Sunroof drains? I just had a new windshield installed a few weeks ago. But I have not had a problem until today. Everything was fine until I tilted the sunroof and when hitting the brakes coming to stops. Water would run in thru/by the visor hinge.

View 2 RepliesFor about 2 weeks now when I turn my 2001.5 Passat off, the little light above the driver visor comes on. It only turns off when I put the visor back up. It never did this before and doesn't do it on the passenger side. Can I just disconnect that light? what was also strange was that if I didn't put the visor back up (turning the light off) a clicking sound would come from the instrument cluster and the cluster lights would flicker. But when I put the visor back up the clicking and flickering stopped.
View 6 Replies2007 Sonata - Noticed some drops of water coming out of the SRS button on the driver side A-pillar. Is there a sunroof drain hose in that assembly behind the trim? Maybe clogged hose? Where that hose exits the body to drip water so I can check for clogs? And where the other three drain houses exit?

View 6 RepliesI just got a new Passat (2007) on May 19, less than 2 months ago as of this posting. I love the car, but whenever it rains, or following rain, I have a problem with water dripping down into the driver's side whenever I have the window cracked open. At first I thought, No big deal. However, now my right rear power window and the safety lock to all the windows has stopped working.
BUT...I opened my mouth and mentioned the water problem, to which the Service Advisor responded, "I'm going to pretend that I didn't hear that." This suggests to me that, possibly, the dealership would try to screw me otherwise and say that the window failed because of water (an OUTSIDE influence)...Thus far, my local dealership (and the Service Advisor) have been top-notch.
First of all, is it possible that they'll try to say I should've had my window completely up during rain, and therefore water shorted out the switch? My argument (if it comes to that) is that even several hours after rainfall, water from the roof drips into the car, and some gets on the armrest where the controls are located. Am I in for a showdown? I would think that the buttons would be sealed to prevent water from affecting the electronics underneath.
My dad just brought home his new 98 Passat V6 wagon! So were washing it for the first time, and he notices that the rain tray is missing. no big deal.
But we also found that there is water pooling up in the drain tray area on the driver's side. Its way back in the corner. Drivers side, right in the corner of the firewall.
Where the drain plugs are around there? I have the Bentley manual, but thought someone out there might have a readily available answer.
2001 Passat Wagon ... After a heavy rain last night I noticed a very wet driver side floor area. My car was parked and I've never noticed any wetness while driving. What are the steps to take to figure out where the leak is?

Someone has said that it may be the Leak Detection Pump located above the wheel well in the rear driver's side of the car. My question is does the tapping sound mean that it's going bad?

For some reason it does not make the noise when it has recently rained or the car is wet, the noise is coming from the front drivers side. I had a mechanic check out my suspension, and he said everything was fine. I am thinking it could be a bushing, but am not sure.

View 1 RepliesLast night on our way home I was on the highway and we get into slow moving traffic around 25-30 MPH I get to heard this tap tap tap tap noise. which was going away when accelerating or braking.. and coming back when leaving the car rolling by itself... I did a bunch of recordings but this is the one you can heard the best... noise actually changes with speed and when turning, but again it goes away if I touch the brakes or the gas...
Noise appears to come from the front driver side.

My 2000 Passat's interior is flooding, however it is only in the read driver side floor and it is coming from the vent that is down there... I looked under the battery and vacuumed and cleaned it out... I can't seem to remove the black box on the right side under the hood next to the battery, it holds the ECU I believe. nor can I figure out where the flooding is coming from.
View 6 RepliesReplace the seals in a power steering rack on a Passat? I recently noticed I had a fluid leak after seeing spots on my driveway. After discovering it was power steering fluid when I checked the reservoir, I checked all the lines and found the leak coming from the rack on the drivers side. The boot on the steering rack had come loose and there was fluid leaking from the side of the rack. Is there a fix for this or am I looking at a expensive repair?

View 2 RepliesSo, I have heard a little bit about the oil pump bolt issue. However, I am still confused. Was this issue fixed for the 2008 model and what are the symptoms? I changed out my valve cover last night due to a PCV valve failure. The car is running great except there is a slight rattling sound coming from the drivers side of the engine at idle. I know I left nothing around the car that could have gotten in the motor when the valve cover was off. This issue was not happening before changing the valve cover. What could be causing this noise, or is it typical for this motor?
