For the last couple of days my interior lights are not turning on until I open the drivers door. My Coming Home and Leaving Home functions are turned off due to the HID Headlights, but the interior lights worked fine since the HID installation in 11/13. It is a 2013 Passat SE 2.5. Is there a setting in VCDS for the interior light function.
View 7 RepliesWhen I open the driver's door, the car does not register that the door is open: the dome light and other interior lights don't come on, the red alert light inside the door itself doesn't come on, and sometimes my alarm will go off when I start the car because it does not know that the door has been activated properly. When the passenger door is open, all the lights function properly. I'm thinking this is a fuse? Hopefully a simple fix?
View 12 RepliesIt's that horrible sound when you first turn the key. Those few beeps. Or it's the same sound if the car's turned on and you open the driver's door. That beeping sound! I'll just be driving down the street or highway and it just turns on! And it'll stay on!! Sometimes it'll go off if I open and close my door. Sometimes it'll go off if I unlock and lock the doors. When the sound turns on for no reason, the interior lights also come on as if a doors open.
View 1 RepliesSo I have a 2003 vw passat glx and I just had a shop replace my heater core. Anyways I got the car back and now when the drivers door is open the inside light doesn't turn on. It does when the other door is open.. Also when I lock the doors via remote it doesn't horn anymore.
View 2 RepliesI just got myself 07 santa fe. Have small problem though. When I open the door interior lights are not going on, doesn't matter which door are open it is not working but I can turn them on manually, so fuse is fine I guess. What my be a cause of it?
View 16 RepliesWhen I open the driver door at night, the brake pump would dim the interior lights a little while running. Is this normal for a 6 month-old aux battery? All my trips are 30 mins or longer so it has plenty of opportunity to recharge.
View 4 RepliesI have a 2002 Wagon and when I open the driver's door the interior lights no long go on. They do go on when I open the passenger door. Occasionally the "door open" warning light goes on as well until I open and slam the driver's door several times.
1. Is this likely to be the sensor?
2. How tough is this to replace?
I'm unable to open my trunk door with the remote, using the key, or with the switch on the drivers side door. I am also pretty sure it is not frozen shut. Will I need to switch out the complete latch assembly or just need to wd-40 something? This is for a 2000 Passat 1.8T Sedan.

View 4 RepliesFrom inside it works fine. I pulled the interior panel and it looks as if the parts aren't close enough together. There is a white plastic barrel(?) attached to the lever for the exterior handle. When the exterior handle is pulled the white barrel moves down. It looks as if it should strike the lever to activate the spring and release the door. Barely grazes it. Can't seem to get this piece to move closer.
View 1 RepliesI have earlier had problems with my driver's outside door handle which now and then doesn't open the door for a week or two, but then suddenly starts to work as normal again for long periods.
Yesterday one of my children had grabbed the outside door handle while I was operating the remote to unlock the car. After that the outside door handle doesn't work any more. I find it unbelieveable that VW designs a system which doesn't gracefully handle a grabbed handle while operating the central lock.
Anyhow, I took off the outer bottom window seal of the door and immediately saw the brown wire coming from the lock assembly. It is supposed to be straight, but this was loose. Look at this image (wire mirrored from the window):

Most internet tips tells me to slam the door a number of times until the wire returns to its position and all is well - probably until the next time the same thing happens...
I have two scenarios, my driver's door handle which doesn't work now and then, and the rear side door which immediately stopped working after the handle was pulled while I unlocked the car.
In the first scenario I aussume that it would be ok to lube or clean the wire? But what is the cure for the second scenario? Also can I somehow access the other end of the wire (at the lock mechanism end) without completely dismantle the door?
When I open the drivers side door I hear a mechanical noise like the seat is moving back or sideview mirrors are adjusting, you know that kind of grindy electric mechanical sound. But I don't see anything moving, just hear a motor working? What is moving or supposed to be moving? I have a 2012 2.5L SEL no memory seats.

Tonight one of my lamps stopped working when I was trying to install HID's. I suspect the fuse is burned out but cant get to it cause the door wont open. How can I get my door open. Need headlights as I get out of work late night and dont want to get pulled over for a headlamp being out.

I had a repair done a few weeks back and had a loaner 2014 TDI SE, and it had the exact same sound.
When the rear window was up, the interior lights stayed on. I couldn't find the valet switch to depress/turn them off. How can I turn off the interior lights while the back window is open? I have only had the Excursion for a month so I am still figuring it all out.

I do a lot of camping, and having the doors open with the music playing is a real nice feature of my truck (2007 F-150 Super Crew 4X4), vut the fact that every internal light stays on just beats the heck out of the battery.
I would love to know if there is something that can be done to have them 'dim off' after the doors have stayed open for a certain amount of time.
Is there any way to keep the interior lights and running board lights from coming on when you open the doors, really would like to keep them off all the time.

View 5 RepliesDid a search and read the manual and I cant seem to turn of the dome lights when I open the doors. For example... Sometimes my daughter falls asleep and I want to open the door at night without the lights coming on... Or If the mosquitoes are going crazy I might want to turn off the light so I don't get killed... I know I can hold the switch to the right and it turns lights on with doors closed, and hold for a second to the left to turn off. But what about opening the door? I know my old 2007 was able to do this function...

I went to get something out of it the other day... Opened the door and it sounds like I've left the hazards on... There's a clicking coming from the dashboard and the overhead lights, and running board lights blink. If I shut the door, it stops.
Do I need to call in a priest?
