When I open the driver door at night, the brake pump would dim the interior lights a little while running. Is this normal for a 6 month-old aux battery? All my trips are 30 mins or longer so it has plenty of opportunity to recharge.
View 4 RepliesWhen I open the driver's door, the car does not register that the door is open: the dome light and other interior lights don't come on, the red alert light inside the door itself doesn't come on, and sometimes my alarm will go off when I start the car because it does not know that the door has been activated properly. When the passenger door is open, all the lights function properly. I'm thinking this is a fuse? Hopefully a simple fix?

My Coming Home and Leaving Home functions are turned off due to the HID Headlights, but the interior lights worked fine since the HID installation in 11/13. It is a 2013 Passat SE 2.5. Is there a setting in VCDS for the interior light function.
View 7 RepliesI just got my Prius less than a week ago. It's a 2012 Pearl White basic Prius with solar panel sunroof/navigation package. (Canadian). I make sure everything is fully off when I go to turn my car off. I hold down the brake and press the start button for at least 2 seconds and everything turns right off. However, when I go back into my car after a few hours, or the next morning, soon as I open the door I notice the interior fan is running! What the heck? This has been doing this since I got it. Does it just come on automatically when I open my door (annoying) or is this running the entire time I'm not in the car?
View 10 RepliesThey used too but now they don't. They do come on if I lock the car and then use the fob to manually unlock the car or touch the door handle.
I have tried my other fob and it still won't work.
It was always fine until today, other than a fuse is there something that accidentally got turned off?
Is a trip to my stealer in my future?
Just curious-- After several hours of not running, I open the driver door and hear a pump of some kind start up and run under the hood. Runs for a while then stops. How long seems to depend on how long the car has sat there, but about 30 seconds max. What it is?

I do a lot of camping, and having the doors open with the music playing is a real nice feature of my truck (2007 F-150 Super Crew 4X4), vut the fact that every internal light stays on just beats the heck out of the battery.
I would love to know if there is something that can be done to have them 'dim off' after the doors have stayed open for a certain amount of time.
My 5 month old 2015 Prius develops a problem. Once in a while when driving at night, the door open indicator and dome lights will come on for a moment and off right away. I assume it is cause by a loose connection or faulty sensor. Before I take the car to the dealer, is there something I can check?

Sometimes my daughter falls asleep and I want to open the door at night without the lights coming on... Or If the mosquitoes are going crazy I might want to turn off the light so I don't get killed... I went to get something out of it the other day... Opened the door and it sounds like I've left the hazards on... There's a clicking coming from the dashboard and the overhead lights, and running board lights blink. If I shut the door, it stops.
Do I need to call in a priest?
At some point I learned that the fuel pump is supposed to go off when I open the driver side door and after I notice it stopped I took it to a shop shop and they tried to get it to start and had to bang it wit a rubber mallat , after that they told me the pump has failed so I bought a new one (VDO) brand and installed it myself the car felt like it drove better and it made the noise when I open the driver side door in the mornings a couple of weeks after it stopped and I felt my car was back to how it was before , I still get the noise when I turn the key 3/4 of the way and have no issues starting the car coincidentally, I am noticing my car wont lock when I use the keyfob unless I do it manually, is the pump not priming because of the door module has failed too?
View 2 RepliesIt's that horrible sound when you first turn the key. Those few beeps. Or it's the same sound if the car's turned on and you open the driver's door. That beeping sound! I'll just be driving down the street or highway and it just turns on! And it'll stay on!! Sometimes it'll go off if I open and close my door. Sometimes it'll go off if I unlock and lock the doors. When the sound turns on for no reason, the interior lights also come on as if a doors open.

I just got an LED interior kit, but haven't got it in the mail yet, so it is still on the stock bulbs from the factory, is it a dual filament bulb that just needs replacing?
I have a 2002 Wagon and when I open the driver's door the interior lights no long go on. They do go on when I open the passenger door. Occasionally the "door open" warning light goes on as well until I open and slam the driver's door several times.
1. Is this likely to be the sensor?
2. How tough is this to replace?
Today I've been working on fixing the Door Ajar problem that's developed in my 2002 ranger extended cab. I haven't made any progress taking the main doors apart and testing the switches. Doing a little research on the forum I learned that the door ajar wiring is tied in with the dome/instrument dimmer. Well that's interesting because my instrument dimmer was never worker properly. It dims the running lights instead of anything in the cab, and if I turn it down too low, the fog lights won't function.
So I have a few questions:
+What's the way to determine which door, if any, is sending "door ajar"? I'd rather not take the back doors apart, and check the wiring on each door.
+What's the deal with my dimmer?
