I am at work and dont have access to my manual. I was driving into work today and the outside temp gauge dropped from 40 to 39 then chimed and flashed as if to say "he it dropped below 40 outside" then it showed a little snowflake picture next to the temp. I have only had the car since summer-so why was it telling me it dropped to 39?
View 11 RepliesOkay so I just peaked 100k and (of course) my 6.0 has an issue. I was driving along when suddenly my Transmission Temp gauge dropped to nothing, the tow haul began flashing and my check engine light came on. My transmission hard shifted and wouldn't shift up from 3rd. I let the truck sit for a few days, no leaking was observed and no blown lines. I added 4qts of tranny fluid and went to take it for a spin. The truck did fine for about 20 minutes and the same issue occurred. I parked it and checked the dip stick and it was full. What could the issue be.
View 5 RepliesToday was drive my x 2000 v10 limited 4x4 114k miles). It was 90 degrees Out and was driving in light traffic going 40 and noticed my temp gauge almost up to h then dropped fast. So shut the ac off and it continue to rise and drop fast I went few more miles to where I was going checked everything could see no problems it sat for about 30mins then left on my drive back home 36 miles and had ac on and no problems stayed where it normally is. I am thinking of just replacing the belt cause I never have. No weeping from water pump. Or any smell.
View 6 RepliesSo I got my IS350 F-Sport AWD a couple weeks ago and I'm loving it so far. I just passed the break in period a few days ago . I just had a question about something happened today though. Basically I was on the highway and I was coming off of an off-ramp at about 90 km/h (~55 mph). This was a relatively sharp ramp but I was slowing down as I entered it. Anyway, the car started beeping and I saw a red message in the center of the gauge.
Unfortunately, it was there for a split second and I didn't get to read what it said. Later, after parking the car, I checked the "messages" view in the gauge cluster and there was nothing there. There was also no check engine light or anything on after either. The car seemed to drive normally before, during, and after that. Was it the VSC/TC system? Or is it something else?
I believe this is what I saw. Is it possible for it to have detected the curb coming up and that I was going fast? Does the Canadian F-Sport 3 package even have a PCS? I don't see anything about a PCS when I look at what's included in the package, but I know that it does have the radar cruise control/rear cross-traffic alerts so it doesn't seem out of the question that it could detect the curb.
I drive a 2001 Ford F150 4.6L , Miles at 175,000+ (a little more but no more than 176k)
Situation as it happened : Driving home from work for lunch, about halfway home I notice that my Oil Light is on and the Gauge has dropped to below the "L." Engine started making noise, best I can compare it to is to the sound of a diesel engine when it's idle. Immediately pull over after noticing this, shut off engine for about 5 mins, check oil, oil is fine. Turn truck back on, light is off, gauge is normal, and noise isn't as loud as it was before. Drive rest of the way home no problem. After deciding on driving the truck back to work (I know i shouldn't have but I have no other means of transportation, and I work at Autozone so I wanted one of my managers there to check it out) I turn on engine, everything is fine, no oil light, gauge is in the middle of the "H" and "L", only thing wrong was the engine noise, except like earlier it wasn't too loud or shaking the truck. About halfway to work, I come to a stop sign, Oil gauge shoots down below the "L" and the oil light come on.
As soon as that happens engine starts making same loud noise as before (diesel truck idling.) I push the gas to get past the stop sign, and instantly truck loses power in pedal and just shuts off. Make it to side of road, hasn't turned on since. Never had any problems with the truck since I bought it 5 months ago, changed the oil 1 time about 2 months after I bought it. I'm just hoping my engine hasn't seized up on me.
Not sure if this matters, but about 4 days prior to this, truck was making a rattling noise, almost like shaking a can of paint , under the front drivers side, in the suspension. Was told those were probably due to my sway bar link bushings being busted.
After some research on here and other websites as well, I have come to find out that this is pretty common in most Fords? Most people recommend changing the oil pressure switch, and others say it could be the oil pump? Was planning on changing out Oil Pressure Switch, and changing the oil filter/oil , and fuel filter as well. Not sure what else I could do?
The truck I'm working on is a 2003 f550 with a 6.0, and 382000 kilometers. My service truck died on me couple days ago, while running. As I rolled to a stop, I noticed that my temp gauge on the dash dropped to cold. (Truck was hot). Tried starting, and I have a crank, no start situation.
After towing it to my shop at work, I hooked it up to my scanner, and found that the pcm will not communicate with the scanner (otc genisis). I have no injector buzz with key on, wait to start light comes on for an abnormally long time. I have 48.3 volts on the ficm,(4 screw), and haven't been able to find any chafed wires as of yet.
Ok my friend has a 2000 passat v6 with 120k and as soon as he starts the car the abs light comes on with the oil light and beeps. It goes away for a minute or two and just repeats bringing up the oil light and abs then beeping any info to what this could...

Brake light flashing too but i am really only concerned about the beeping sound i get 80% of the time after i come to a stop and accelerate then oil pressure light comes on and it beeps 3 times and goes away til i stop again????? What is making the car beep?
View 1 RepliesSo my girlfriends passat is starting to have some problems. It looks like a light show on the dash. When driving it, every now and then (a lot more now) the tach goes dead, and the oil and brake light flash, and it starts beeping. The car also has a ABS light on but that has been on for a long time.
So far I've checked both the oil and brake fluid levels, and checked all the fuses. Everything is good there. It just seems funny that they all go at once. I figure maybe one of the plugs to the cluster is loose giving everything a zero reading? I need to buy a vag cable and software some time that's for sure.
My alternator went today, driving and the battery came on .. was concerned but was still on my way, abt 5 miles from my house the abs light and brake lights starting flashing and beeping .. and then caput .. the car shuts off .. figured it was the alternator, cuz thats whats logically made sense .. talk to vwvortex and if so how much do these type of jobs cost ??
View 18 RepliesAbout a month ago, I started my car and the computer started beeping saying STOP! check coolant...so i did....it was on empty...this was rather weird to me because i remember seeing it on normal like a week ago....so i added the coolant to the max level in the tank.....Two weeks later it was on the MIN level line....so i added some again....then a week later it decreased a little again.... it would seem that its a leak....however i do not see any wet spots under the car...it seems that the coolant disappears due to driving the car... Could it be the coolant? Also, how does G12 coolant differ from regular coolants sold in auto stores?

Friday when on the interstate my my temp gauge started to rise past normal operating temperature before fan came on. Is this normal? After the fan came on it stayed at normal temp for the rest of trip....
View 5 RepliesWas driving my truck I have a 97 f150 4x4 4.6L, btw. The heater started blowing cold air and I looked at the temp gauge but it was showing lower than it normally does and then, after a couple of miles or so I looked at the temp gauge again. By this time I was in my driveway. And it was overheating it might have been that way before I looked at the temp gauge again. But any way I opened the hood didn't see any leaks, all my hoses were hot except the top heater hose. Also checked the oil it was full and coolant was too, what this could be? Sounds like a t-stat to me? But could be worse. Also forgot to mention that the oil had no signs of water in there nor the expansion tank cap !

View 2 RepliesI recently purchased an 03 GLX wagon 4 motion from a dealer as is. It had 84,000 on it when I got it and needed a timing belt. The work was performed by a VW dealer and all has been well until today. I was on the highway, had been working the car pretty well for about an hour and i noticed that the temp gauge which is at 190 religiously is now dropped down as low as 120- 130.
I continued to drive, thinking maybe just a bad sensor/gauge considering I had no check engine light yet. I still have good heat but when I got home I noticed that the coolant reservoir was bubbling pretty fierce. Couldn't tell if it was boiling or if it was compression coming back in from perhaps a head gasket failure.
I've notice sometimes when i first start the car the outside temp gauge blinks. What does that mean?
View 6 RepliesAlright so noticed the other day that my temp gauge was staying pinned at cold. every once in a while it will jump up to the normal range but not for more than a few seconds to a minute before it drops back to cold. I just bought the car so I've still got a warranty from the dealer and im fairly convinced that I don't have to bee too concerned with it over heating because when the gauge DOES register its saying normal. just thought id ask here before i drive the 2 hours back to where i bought the car.

The Fuel Gauge also Beep and indicate low fuel when i'm turning ... Actually , the car has the V6 Cluster , i switch those and it make no difference ....
All the wires are hooked up in the ecm compartement , each wire with good color ...
