My alternator went today, driving and the battery came on .. was concerned but was still on my way, abt 5 miles from my house the abs light and brake lights starting flashing and beeping .. and then caput .. the car shuts off .. figured it was the alternator, cuz thats whats logically made sense .. talk to vwvortex and if so how much do these type of jobs cost ??
View 18 RepliesSo my girlfriends passat is starting to have some problems. It looks like a light show on the dash. When driving it, every now and then (a lot more now) the tach goes dead, and the oil and brake light flash, and it starts beeping. The car also has a ABS light on but that has been on for a long time.
So far I've checked both the oil and brake fluid levels, and checked all the fuses. Everything is good there. It just seems funny that they all go at once. I figure maybe one of the plugs to the cluster is loose giving everything a zero reading? I need to buy a vag cable and software some time that's for sure.
I am a new owner of ls 460l. I have question about star up it have beeping sound and two little red light right before dashboard flashing. How do i turn it ofF, and what is the 2 red light for?
View 13 RepliesI am having issues with 2015 sonata sport. My car alarm has been going off randomly as well as lights flashing/beeping as if I was pushing lock button on key fob. I am not pushing any buttons and sometimes it will happen when The key fob is in my hand and I know I'm not pressing any buttons. When it does happen the little red light will flash on the key fob. I've tried using other key fob and have same issues with both. Also I have had to change the battery in both key fobs about 8 times thus far and I've only had the car a little over a year.
It does not happen all the time and I know if I take it in, my luck the car wont do it and they will tell me they don't see anything wrong. Sometimes the buttons wont work to unlock/lock the car and after a few minutes the car will beep and lights flash on their own and I will be able to then lock/unlock car again. This is getting very frustrating and it has become an annoyance for me and I'm sure my neighbors as well. I even will have people I work with come in and tell me my alarm is going off during my work shift.
I have a 99 Passat; 5-speed V6. My tachometer would go out intermittently and at the same time the oil and brake light would start flashing and the ABS light would come on solid. There would be no noticeable difference in performance. When the tachometer would come back on line the lights would go go. Now the tachometer appears to be down permanently and the dash lights above are in the same state as above. Still no noticable difference in performance. What may be wrong?

View 3 RepliesSo I have a 1.8 5spd wagon which flooded out the comfort control module. I got another CCM but I still have a flashing oil pressure light. a flashing brake warning, a solid ABS light and an airbag light. The tach doesn't work and the MFD only occasionally works. Before I replace the ABS module I would like to eliminate anything else that might be in common with all these systems, is there a hidden fuse anywhere or a relay?
I tried unplugging the ABS module and it didn't change anything, do I need to code the CCM it has the same numbers on it but even after replacement the power windows still don't work even though the door locks, mirrors, and dome light on all but the drivers door ( I assume the micro switch is bad)work now, also the car starts.
Had a small brake fluid leak from my right-rear wheel, so I took it into a local place called Wheel Works. They said the right-rear caliper needed to be replaced, so I told them to go ahead.
Two days after I pick up the car, the ABS light and brake warning lights start flashing intermittently. They'd come on at random times, and then turn back off. After about 2 weeks of this, the warning lights are now on all the time.
I've read elsewhere on these forums that the ABS module on our cars can go bad and might need to be rebuilt. But is it possible that the mechanic caused this problem when he was working on the brakes to replace my caliper? Could it be something more minor than the ABS module? I now have reason to believe this mechanic is shady, so I'm hesitant to bring it back there.
I have a 1999 vw passat and i have the abs light on all the time ( was told its the abs module)? Brake light flashing too but i am really only concerned about the beeping sound i get 80% of the time after i come to a stop and accelerate then oil pressure light comes on and it beeps 3 times and goes away til i stop again????? What is making the car beep?

I was driving into work today and the outside temp gauge dropped from 40 to 39 then chimed and flashed as if to say "he it dropped below 40 outside" then it showed a little snowflake picture next to the temp. I have only had the car since summer-so why was it telling me it dropped to 39?
View 11 RepliesMy wife's 1998 Passat's ABS and Brake lights both comes on along with that beeping buzzer. Everything is norm from start up, but after driving about 10 miles or so the ABS/brake light& buzzer show starts up.
It seems the ABS is working because my wife found a patch of sand in a parking lot and jammed on the brakes while the ABS/brake light& buzzer show was going on. She said she could feel the brakes pumping.
We took it in to the dealer and they check the brake pads and sensors. They said that the sensors and pads were ok. They thought it might have been dirty sensor, so they clean them.
Two days later the ABS/brake light& buzzer show came back. But this time my brakes squeal a little if you press on the brake lightly. (cleaning solution got on the brakes?) Also how big a deal is it installing a new ABS black box ? (where is it?)
I had a hard brake from 45mph to 0 last week, now when I start the car or brake hardly, there is beep. What is wrong with it?
View 7 RepliesSo I just bought a used 06 Passat VR6 (my third vw) and my e-brake light kept coming on for some reason this morning. I never turned it on so I just followed the manual and held the brake and pressed the button. The e-brake light turns off. So I turn to reverse and then the e-brake light comes on by itself and a funny beeping noise turns on, almost like a siren. I put it in park. I hold the brake and push the button and the e-brake turns off, but the process repeats for about an hour.
Now the e-brake light doesn't come on but the funny siren noise turns on when I put it in anything other than park. The siren sometimes turns off after a few seconds but comes on again while I drive, and then disappears. My e-brake is not engaged during this time. What could be the problem?
Driving a 2008 Passat with a factory 6 disc radio installed noticed a faint beeping sound after applying the brake when the SAT Radio is selected? I hear it all the time, especially when I'm listening to talk show and the volume is up high. Surprisingly, it doesn't make that sound when I have the CD Player selected.

Our 2004 Rodeo is having intermittent trouble starting, sometimes when the key is turned it is dead, no clicking noise, all lights on dash are on and engine light flashing. it goes from being dead to a short turning of engine, eventually it will turn over but may have trouble firing. the next time it will start perfectly.

The car is not starting and all lights are flashing dimly. I get no clock or meter numbers but the light are dim blue and flashing. The horn is also going off but almost silent.
I unhooked the battery and reconnected but with no luck. This is the most I know. I have the car manual with me and a laptop.
I own a 2004 Toyota Camry. Its just under 100,000 miles. A few days ago the ABS and brake lights started flashing on and off at the same time. They stay on for a second and then go off. It doesn't happen every time I drive the car but it is happening more than it's not. The place my husband took it to said they can't diagnose the problem unless the lights stay on. Is it safe to drive the car?
View 3 RepliesSo my brake light was flashing and my abs light and traction light came on...i got codes for a faulty abs module and G85 steering angle sensor. I replaced the module and I cleared the codes and they cleared except the steering angle sensor and now the traction light is stuck on? Do i have to zero point calibrate with a vagcom?

In VCDS, I coded the CECM to enable the brake light flashing under panic braking and also enabled the activation of hazard flashers under panic braking. Coding was accepted, no issues.
However when I did a driveby test yesterday with a friend watching, neither feature activated. I stomped on the brakes as hard as I could; ABS definitely engaged. So I was wondering a couple things:
Is there a minimum speed required before this will engage? I was probably going only about 35 mph when I hit the brakes.
Does this feature (at least the flashing brake light portion) require LED tails or will it work with the regular tails?
Looking on youtube videos of people who have activated this, it appears that they have both the flashing brake lights and flashing hazards activated at the same time so it would seem that's allowed by the CECM, yes?

I enabled BOTH bit 1 and bit 2. Some of the research I'm doing seems to hint that I should only be selecting one or the other?
2004 with 214000 miles. Brake pedal goes to the floor, red dash lights are flashing, I just added a container of brake fluid and still no pressure at the pedal. I'm guessing master cylinder.
My question is: Even though my brake pedal goes directly to the floor, how am I getting the car to stop at the very end of the push? Do the brakes somehow work as a fail-safe even the the hydrolics are basically toast? I know that's a long shot, but it wouldn't be the first time I've been shocked over systems in this car.
