Is there a way to remove the initial warning screen every time the vehicle starts? Mine is a US 2004 Phaeton. I have been pushing the confirm button for years. Would love for the display to go to automatic confirm or go strait to function display.

View 5 RepliesOne of my taillights stopped functioning last night on my drive home. The "check lights" message came up on screen, accompanied by a loud warning chime. However, it wouldn't stop. It kept flashing "check lights" over and over, and kept repeating the chime every few seconds for my entire ride home.
This morning, everything seems to be OK. The taillight is still out, but it's not chiming repeatedly (at least for now). What caused my Phaeton to freak out like that?
Just returned from dealer in rental car because my otherwise "perfect" car would not start after I came back from a shopping binge at my local Costco. Unlocked the car fine, put key in ignition, put foot on brake and cranked -Nothing. All lights are working on dash, windows operate, everything seems fine other than no start. Never experienced anything like it. No warning, no unusual activity. Dealer says it is either ignition switch or starter.

I noticed a light bulb emblem on my front center screen but continued on to the grocery. Upon starting car after leaving grocery I received a "check lights" warning on that screen for several seconds. Since the chain of events have been
1) Repair TPMS control module, and this leads to
2) Repair motor that raises rear privacy shield which led to
3) All 5 tire sensors needing replaced, which led immediately to
4) Trunk harness needing replaced and now I have this light issue.
I've literally left the car dealership after the last 3 services with new problems to deal with.
New owner of a 2014 Sonata SE and wondering about the initial navigation "drive safely" warning that comes up every time I start the car. It requires I acknowledge it, is there any way to make that go away?
View 17 RepliesThe other day it was a cold morning so I went out and started the engine to warm it up, heat the seats and clear the windows. I was on the train this particular day so the wife was going to drop me at the station, dropping the kids at the bus stop on the way.
We got as far as the bus and no further as darling wife hadn't picked up a key so following the stop we could neither start the car nor lock it. Fortunately the crisis was averted as miraculously a friend passed by soon after and ran me home for the key so I made my train, just.
Moral of the story is if you start the car with Keyless start always leave a key somewhere in the car.....
The last 3 cold weather starts (30-40 degrees) resulted in somewhat of a hesitancy when the engine turned over - started on the first attempt, though. And - the last time - there was a very transient flash of a red warning indicator in the large computer screen/info center in the instrument cluster - too fast to read - then ran a little rough for the first 15-30 seconds.
I recently had the 40k service completed and everything checked out fine. I did some reading about the ignition coil recall, but my symptoms don't sound like they lend to their failure.
I love my new 2006 Phaeton (white/beige) and have been trouble-free so far for first 2 months of ownership (12,000 miles) but now I get a Spare Tire Pressure Warning every time I start the car, that now stays on when I drive around. I don't even know where the spare tire is! It did just recently get cold in Chicago area suburbs, but I keep my car in the garage at all times.

Next, how long does it take to settle down to a lower RPM and what is lower RPM when the car is still in Park?
Lastly, can tapping the gas pedal after initial start-up bring the idle RPM down while the car is in Park?

Since I started using castrol titanium full syn oil, I have noticed increased blue smoke on initial start up, usually after overnight.
Time for another oil change, what OIL to go with? I was thinking back to Valvoline maxlife dino oil.
Last week, the engine stopped twice in the 2 minutes after initial start....but then managed to take me back home. Was away for 1 week (not with TS) then when back , tried to start ...no joy.
This duplicates a similar event 8 years ago...solved with the ignition module being replaced.

There are 2 options: crank sensor or ignition module. Will go for some tests and will report.
My jetta started making a loud screeching noise on initial start up, it only last a split second and sometimes it doesn't do it, I read it maybe my bushings need greased, but I didn't know if maybe it was something to do with my flywheel bc with my window down and at idle I can hear a faint tapping noise, I push the clutch in the noise goes away, car starts up fine with no hesitation and also shifts smooth...

It only lasts about 5 seconds from initial start up and the rpm does not change and stays constant. This only happens maybe once every other week or once a month. What or why this could be happening?

View 1 RepliesA few times over the past several months, I've found a weird distortion ocurring in the screen on the infotainment display (not the small screen on the dashboard). It looks like an old CRT / TV screen that has gotten un-aligned / un-synched - a rolling and diagonally stretched image. It goes away if I stop, shutdown, remove the key and restart the car.
I'm thinking that it is being caused by interference generated by my Blackberry handheld, which I have a tendency to stick in the driver's side cup holder - angled toward me, so the antenna ends up pointing toward the infortainment unit screen, but the distortion doesn't disappear simply by moving the Blackberry.
2 days ago I started my car and the centre console screen failed to come on. This meant no a/c, tv, satnav, radio, etc, etc. None of the keys in the centre console worked. Although they were lit up with the car lights on they were not active.
When I used the steering wheel controls to scroll round, it did not come up with any information about phone, radio, position, etc.
My phone however still thought it was connected to the car. Luckily I'm still under warranty and I'm dropping it off today.
I have an issue with extreme high initial idle at start up. I took my 1998 Ranger with a 3.0L to the local dealer to have some work done about a month ago. Long story short, my number six plug wire got burned against the exhaust rail.
Anyway, I guess they re-flashed the computer to the newest *.bin, or flash version. After that when I start the truck the tachometer jumps up to 2200 - 2300 RPM and then it settles down to about 1500 after a moment or two, then it finally adjusts itself to about 1100 for a few more seconds and eventually ends up at 900 - 1000 RPM.
I confronted Ford about this and they said that Ranger's and F-150's do have a tendency to do that at start up. Ordinarily I wouldn't be too concerned, however I believe that the 2200 - 2300 RPM high idle at start up at 0 F, a bit much.
Sometimes when I get in the car the infotainment screen dims itself after a few minutes so that the information is barely visible. It usually comes back to life after about ten minutes. The manual mentions dimming the screen but doesn't elaborate. Is there a dimming switch for that screen?
