Sometimes a fan automatically starts from some vent on the passenger side rear seat. It starts and goes off all by itself. What this is and how to stop it. Very loud.
View 8 RepliesI'm hearing a sound of closing something coming from the rear passenger side that. the sound comes randomly many times while driving. it doesn't come when parked. it sounds like the automatic antenna that is on 1995 Accords that closes and opens. is that the vent? also, do all prius's have that sound? is there something wrong with my prius?

It was 40 outside so I was using the heat; had it set to 76. I tore apart the flooring and found where it was leaking

View 2 RepliesGot an issue with the wife's Camry. I CAN NOT get the passenger door and both rear doors to lock automatically. I can manually flip the lock and they stayed locked, but that is the only way to lock them. They un-lock like normal.
Symptoms are as follows:
I do not hear any noise (in the three doors that will not lock) when I press ANY the lock buttons.
Drivers side door:
- with key in door it will unlock drivers door with one turn and all others with second turn. (normal)
- with key in door I can get the drivers door to lock, but the other three doors do NOT lock.
- with inside switch I can unlock all doors with unlock button.
- with inside switch I can lock drivers door but not the other three
Passenger side door:
- with key in door I can unlock all doors
- with key in door I can get ONLY divers door to lock.
- with inside switch I can unlock all doors with unlock button.
- with inside switch I can lock drivers door but not the other three
Key fob:
- with one press I can unlock the divers door and another press unlocks the rest of the doors.
- with the lock button I can get the drivers door to lock but the other three do NOT lock.
I have checked all fuses that I think are related. I don't have a repair manual so I don't know exactly what wires and plugs and fuses are all related to the lock/unlock system. I plan to get a manual soon.
Do the passenger and rear doors have different power to their locking solenoids separate from the drivers door? Could a broken wire in the drivers door (a common problem from what I've been reading on here) play a role in the other three doors not locking? Also I've read about the BCM being faulty in these cars (even though the problem described with that is the doors not unlocking and my problem is the exact opposite).
When I startup my Passat, sometimes the passenger front window will go down automatically, then neither driver/passenger window switch will bring it up. Only goes up if I lock car from outside with key. Tried to (temporarily) remove fuse for power windows so I can drive to work (it's cold), removed fuse, windows did not operate, but car would not start.
View 2 RepliesNoticed the car engine light was on and took it to the autozone to get read by the computer. They said it was probably the cooling sensor. Replaced that part. Still, the light remains. I did notice that the fan on the passengers side turns on automatically upon starting the car. I don't think that is right. I thought it only turned on when the temp rises or the Air conditioner is turned on? Could that be the issue?
View 7 RepliesI just bought a 1998 Chrysler Sebring convertible. I love the car, however I am having a small problem. Every-time I leave the car, the passenger side door locks automatically. The manual says in-order to turn off the auto lock, you have to turn the car to on (without starting it) four times, then hit the lock button. I did this but the auto lock is still on.
View 3 RepliesFirstly, when i put my car in reverse, my passenger side view mirror does not automatically tilt. is there some sort of setting i must go to?
Secondly, I was wondering if it was possible to AUTOMATICALLY fold the side view mirror when i off the engine, or lock the doors, and for them to automatically unfold when i start the engine or unlock the doors! Instead of manually turning the knob.
I went into the Menu, and there was an option under "locks .... ---> mirrors", and i selected sync. Does that have anything to do with my question?
Thirdly, The rain sensing wipers. I have to activate this by pulling the lever up ONE STEP to the intermittent mode right. I tested the rain sensing wipers with a bottle of water! and the sensor is at the rear view mirror. The question is that when i off the engine and leave the rain wipers under Mode ONE (one step up the lever from off) the car doesn't automatically activate the wipers if it rains. I have to push it down to off! then back to INTERMITTENT MODE! Is this normal?
I'm driving a 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe with 83,000 miles on it.
Had it in the shop (dealer) a couple of weeks back for some work on the transmission. While there, I had the dealer perform the work for Recall 090 (corrosion of rear trailing arm). Since that time, there has been a clicking noise coming from what I believe to be the right rear wheel (it is definitely coming from the right [passenger] side). The noise sounds like metal rubbing up against metal, for lack of a better description. The noise is directly correlated to wheel rotation... the faster I drive the vehicle, the more frequently it occurs; the slower I drive, the less frequently it occurs.
The noise is very noticeable, and I am certain that it did not exist prior to my latest visit to the dealer. I am considering taking the vehicle to an independent mechanic this time, as the dealer repeatedly tells me that they aren't to blame, or I end up leaving the dealership with more problems than I arrived with.
I have a 2001 Screw 4x4 that had a bad valve on the passenger side. I got the head rebuilt and put it all back together. Now it has a pretty bad oil leak at the rear of the engine. I thought it was the valve cover gasket but when I took it off the gasket was right where it's supposed to be. I pulled the starter and it seems to be leaking out of the new head gasket. What could I have done wrong? The thing runs perfect now but it's dripping oil like crazy so I had to have done something wrong. I used an OEM head gasket from the dealer and torqued the new head bolts to 30 ft-lbs and then went another 90 turn twice just like the book said.

I have worked on brake pads once. I just haven't had the guts to try it on my Hybrid yet.
Yesterday morning, I woke up to find both windows were down on my Prius after having locked it with the windows closed. A few hours later, I parked the car and after 15 minutes, returned to find the passenger window down.
Why is this happening? I can't risk this occurring again in a rainstorm or in the city. I am sure when I show up at the Prius dealer, I will not be able to recreate the situation.
We have a 2010 Prius Type 5 with about 18K miles. I've noticed at times that after having parked the car in the garage for several hours, that there is a soft "whirring" sound on the passenger side rear of the car. I'm assuming this is the battery fan, because it sounds like a fan and I can't think of anything else back there that would make a "fan"-like sound? Is there any other device back there that could make a "fan"-like sound while parked (it's cold weather here, so it's probably around 40 deg. F or less in the garage)? It makes this noise for 5-10 min. and then stops. If this is the battery fan, why would it run when the car is cold?
