I have 2007 Base Prius and driver side head lights keeps going out and every 10 secs when I turn them all light comes back. Most of times short trips it will go out and need to turn the lights on/off.

Once I turn the car on or flick the low beam headlights on, they turn on for about 10 seconds and then the driver followed by the passenger low beam headlights turn off. Why this is happening as both bulbs are brand new. Before I had the bulbs replaced only one bulb worked so I elected to get both replaced.
View 2 RepliesSo I bought two new HID bulbs for my 2007 prius. Mostly it had been the left one that turned off after a while. So i put a new bulb in and it goes out after about 10 seconds. So i put the other new bulb in and it goes out after 10 seconds too.
View 4 RepliesHalogen Headlights keep failing on my 2007 Prius Hybrid. I'm starting a file on this because my headlights fail waaaaay too often. I first bought replacements from O'Rileys (don't know the brand) and one failed after only 3 months. . . they would not replace the bulb for free so I did buy one more bulb there. The next time I purchased two Philips bulbs at another parts store. The last ones I bought were from Napa Auto parts and I have to replace one of those. I am wishing I had kept better records because there have been more burned out low beam headlamps. . .never use the brights.
View 9 RepliesI have a 2007 Prius with HID lights. A few months ago the drivers side headlight would randomly go out. If I turned the lights off, then immediately back on, sometimes I could get the light to turn back on. Recently the passenger light started doing this as well. I'm wondering if the bulbs are going bad, or is the ballast going bad? Is there an easy way to check?
View 19 RepliesHere is the story, My HID headlights at 45k miles started to flicker and within seconds turn off. My only solution was to turn the lights on/off but the problem would constantly reoccur.
After calling the dealership and speaking to the morons there, I decided to replace the bulbs myself. I successfully replaced both hid headlight bulbs and the bulbs seemed to work perfectly. Sadly, the next day I realized that bulbs would still go out, sometimes the left side, sometimes the right side, sometimes both sides.
I had my 07 prius detailed today and it looks real nice BUT, I started it up afterwards and the touchscreen was in diagnostic mode and the warning lights on the dash were acting up. The warning lights seem to be OK now except that the tire pressure indicator flickers like it is partially shorted. The issue with the touch screen is that it alternates every 10-15 seconds between diagnostic mode and the regular display but only when the ICE is running. If I am just sitting in shutdown idle ( like at a stop light) it behaves fine.

View 8 RepliesMy sister recently bought a 2007 Prius Package 6 with HID's. Her headlights will turn on for about 2-3 minutes then one will go out and then both will go out. If you turn off the headlights and turn them back on then they will both turn on again but only for a few minutes. What this can be? I figured it's not the bulbs since once they go out, they shouldn't come back on but I could be wrong.

View 4 RepliesI have Prius 2007, base model + package 2 & no upgrades. Not sure if it came with HID. It does not have a fog light.
I parked the car in front of a restaurant and waited. Turned off the headlights while waiting with engine running. Fiddled with the interior panel brightness dial a bit. When I turned on the car again the headlights wouldn't turn on - both of them. Drove home with hi-beam.
Checked the fuses H-LP LO for both RH & LH sides. They seem fine.
Asked wife to turn on/off headlights from stick - I could hear the click in the relay - so DIM relay is ok. With stick knob set to headlights and car running asked for the stick to be pushed to turn on/off high-beam- Could hear the relay engage + high beam on/off.
I looked closely to see if the mirror is moving - no movement. Just found it is possible for the same bulb to be High & low beams when there is no mirror movement with dual filament bulbs.
2006 ~ Noticed the car lights (head lights only) flickering off for a few seconds while driving at night, took it in and they re-set the computer, still is flickering. Without spending 4 hours in labor for them to check every wire?

View 5 RepliesI am having this weird issue that started from what I believe this weekend. I was doing 70mph and it was snowing. Not always but something like maybe 1 out of 5 times when I activated the washer fluid motor my headlights would turn off for like 1-2 seconds. Super scary when you are driving in the pitch dark on a highway.
View 8 Replies I was driving home just a few minutes ago when my headlights flickered and then cut out for a few seconds. They came back on, but I hadn't driven another 1/2 mile when they flickered again and went off for a further few seconds. This was repeated once more about a mile later, though when I pulled over (first time I was able to do so), they stayed off til after I restarted the car and banged on the dashboard.
Further symptoms: running lights, brake lights, and tail lights seem unaffected. Turning the switch for the headlights off and back on does not affect the issue.

Headlight on the drivers side goes on but then after approx. 30-45 seconds goes out. The passenger side and the brights are ok.
How do you replace the low beam bulb? which bulb do I purchase?
Is there a video showing the way to get at and remove/replace the bulb.
My 2004 Prius is due in the shop Tues for a hybrid battery replacement. Codes indicate only one cell bad BUT...It is obviously having some problem running. We were very low on gas yesterday but wife filled it before she came home.
She parked it in garage. The Hy Batt indicated all green bars. She may not have pressed the Park button before Power - I do that a lot too.
This AM I changed the spark plugs before I tried to start it. I then started it (ICE & started-sounded OK) and backed it DOWN the driveway into the street and started down the street. The ICE stopped.
The batt indicated one blue bar so the batt would not propel it. After trying a couple times to make it run, I disconnected the 12v grd and let it sit for an hour. Then I reconnected the batt and the ICE again started showing hybrid at 4 blue bars and stopped after a few seconds. Tried it once or twice more, same thing.
When trying to drive my car out of the garage this weekend, it started backing up and then it stopped. It would also not do anything when I put it in drive. Next, the engine cut out. It would only stay on for a few seconds when starting it up again. It continued to do this. I had the car brought to my local mechanic who specializes in foreign cars. He called me today and said my car will not talk to the computer. He stated it must be the hybred battery. He told me I need to take it to a Toyota dealer. My question is how do you tell if this battery is truly out and there is not another problem?
View 6 Replies2004 Prius. Sometimes, quite randomly, the headlights will turn off. Sometimes its both, sometimes its the left only, and sometimes its the right only. This affects both main and high beams. The dash lights and tail lights may still be on (panicking doesn't give me time to confirm that), but for sure the Nav panel is still lit.
The first time this happened was when I was driving on a mountain road at night in the rain. It now happens almost every night and I have confirmed that it also happens in daytime. Road conditions (bumpy/smooth, wet/dry, dark/well lit) do not seem to be a factor.
At least once while still in my garage, when I started the car the left light was out. I can get the lights to turn back on by turning them off all the way and then back on. Nothing else works. I have replaced the relay for the lights - that didn't change anything.
I have a 2007 package 5 and one of my headlights occasionally flickers and goes out, but if I turn the headlights off then on it comes back on for a bit til it turns off again. I just got this car used, and I am wondering if this is normally how these lights act at the end of their lifespan or do they just burn out for good like a regular lightbulb.
View 5 RepliesI have a 2005 Toyota Prius with HID headlights. One of the headlights intermittently went out and I decided to replace both headlights. I installed Philips DR2 headlights. I successfully installed the passenger-side headlight and checked it and it worked well.
I then proceeded to install the driver side headlight and realize that I installed it upside down. I adjusted the headlight but forgot to plug the receptacle back in before checking the headlight. When I turned on the headlights I heard a sparking sound. Now the passenger-side headlight will not turn on, but the driver side headlight does work. I tried to replace the passenger-side headlight with a new bulb but it still will not work. I also checked all the fuses, but they seem to be okay.
