My Prius would not start at all ( getting off from work last night. ) All kinds of flashing/blinking lights on the dashboard. Even the door locks won't work. I'll be calling my dealer first thing this morning.

Drove it last night and drive it regularly, daily. I came out to the driver side door being not fully closed. What's going on?
This morning as soon as I started the car, the speedometer dash turned completely scrambled and the rest of the lights keep blinking/flashing. The car does turn on and drive. Upon drive the Maint Reqd and Low temp icons keep flashing. I think I smell something burning as well but I not sure.
In the video below you can see the scrambling. Occasionally it will just turn off. I tried the battery disconnect but did not work. I definitely think something is burning around dash but cannot be sure.
Car won't start and dash lights keep flashing, but I know it's not the battery!! I put a brand new one in and a battery charger!! And still the dash lights keep flashing and car won't start!! Is there something else besides the battery that might be causing this ??

View 7 RepliesSo right now I'm not able to start my Toyota's engine. I checked multiple screens and found several weird symptoms that I never saw before.
1. When attempting to turn the engine on, the square light that appear over the selected D, N, P positions etc does not appear at all and the 'Ready' light never appears. When putting the car into the Parked mode the square does not appear over the 'P' on the dashboard or any of the other modes and Ready light does not display.
2 . On the dashboard the fuel gauge is blinking continuously. Its showing full bars while blinking even though I have about 3 cars worth of gas in the car.
3. On the computer screen when I go to the Energy menu (The screen that shows the Battery life and the Motor and Engine working together) The battery life is showing as completely empty. But the battery should be working considering the computer screen even turns on. Radio also works.
4. The OBD II scanner does not get a reading. The scanner powers on when plugged into the car, but a "Linking Error" occurs when attempting to read any error codes.
5. On the same computer screen where the Energy menu is displayed, the Temperature gauge is showing an "E" instead of an actual temperature.
6. On the outside of the car I hear a very faint sound that I don't recognize. It could be nothing but its not a sound I ever heard before.
Also NO WARNING LIGHTS are appearing on the dashboard. Which makes sense considering the car engine is not turned on to show anything. I don't know where this issue is coming from?
I bought a used 2008 prius about a month ago with 44,000 miles. Tonight when I went out to get something out of the car, I noticed a flashing light on the dashboard. It looks like a car but is flashing so quickly I am not certain. I can't find anything about it.
View 4 RepliesMy 2004 Honda Accord wouldn't start this morning. Immobilization indicator was blinking. After a bit, it started just fine, as the indicator stopped blinking. My thinking at this time was that it had rained torrentially the previous night, maybe some moisture had got into the circuitry and caused a little 'hiccup.' Then, as I drove, about 5 minutes later, the car started trying to stall. The check engine light came on, then the battery light came on and flashed. The engine ran erratically. Both check engine and battery lights started blinking erratically. At one point the dash beeped at me, like the warning sound it makes when the emergency brake is on while the car is moving. This got worse as I drove. I pulled over to the nearest shop. 2 hours of looking at the car, they said the camshaft sensor and the alternator needed to be replaced. .

View 19 RepliesI have a 2006 sonata and my alarm light on my dash board is blinking rapidly and then my blinker lights will turn on and stay on for a few seconds then it does everything all over again. My car has never done any of this except a slow blink in the red LED alarm light. I don't want my battery to die! Is there anything wrong with my car or is this normal?

I have smart key, but what happens is that even after pressing the brakes all the way and pressing the ON button, it won't start, it would just go into the state where all the indication lights on the dashboard are on. But so far I have been able to start it after a few tries, like after giving it some time etc.
View 19 RepliesI'm having my 2008 Prius for around 16 months no. Yesterday, after work I got in the car to drive home as usual, I put the key, pressed the brake pedal and the Power button, noticed that the dashboard lights come ON, I opened the four windows as it was too hot inside the car, then I noticed that the radio doesn't work and the display screen as well. I thought I haven't pressed the brake pedal enough so I pressed the power button again, and the car stopped. I tried to restart it , but with no luck, now all the windows are open and I couldn't close them and couldn't get the car starting. I pressed the lock button on the key to lock them, but it didn't do anything.
I waited for around 1.5 hour till my brother and his friend came, and they said it might be the 12V battery, once they put the charging cables between the two cars, mine started to operate. This hadn't happen to me and it was really a not nice experience. They told me to try it today morning, if it doesn't work, then the battery might need a replacement.
Today morning it worked fine, but I noticed that the Auto feature of the driver's window is not working and that the speedometer is giving wrong value (approx. lower by 20 K/hr).
My wife's 2006 Honda CR-V has developed a mysterious issue where every minutes, and I mean to the second every 15 minutes, the car behaves as if the ignition switch was turned to the OFF position shutting off the engine. After about 10 seconds, the dashboard light blink as if the key has been turned to the ON and then we can start it. If we try to start it before the dash lights blink, the starter turns but nothing else happens. The immoblizer has been inspected and ruled out and, there are no error codes in the computer.

View 19 RepliesI saw two older posts regarding no dash board lights. It is super cold here as in minus 3 degrees. Somewhat unusual for Kansas. When I started my car I had no dash board instrument lights but the MPG monitor does work. Also when I tried to shut down the power button wouldnt turn the car off and consequently the key would not release. I took it to Toyota and he told my I had the dimmer turned down(I had already tried turning it several times) to the off position. He put a new battery in the key remote and things seemed to work fine. This morning it was another sub-zero day and the same problems happened all over again. This time they diagnosed a sealed junction box on the driver side that has poor connections that seem fail due to the cold weather that needs to be replaced. It will all start all over again when it sits over night in the cold.

I went to get something out of it the other day... Opened the door and it sounds like I've left the hazards on... There's a clicking coming from the dashboard and the overhead lights, and running board lights blink. If I shut the door, it stops.

View 13 RepliesI have had the Prius for a little over 2 years now. Bought used and currently close to 150K miles on it and have put on about 25K miles a year.
This evening on way back home, when I turned on the Prius, I got the Red Triangle along with a bunch of other lights ON the dashboard.
Pressing the power button and everything would take much longer than usual - the lights(on the clock) was dim, the windows moved up and down rather slowly.
Eventually, i had to jump start and carefully drive home. Afraid it would stop somewhere at stop signs or long red lights, i constantly kept pumping the accelerator(not sure if that was good). Seems like need to replace the 12V battery.
My 2008 Prius dashboard lights/indicator lights are not turning on.

View 5 RepliesI have done some maintenance on a recently purchased 2004 Prius. Namely, replaced the inverter cooling pump, the right front wheel bearing and rear brake pads.
At a certain point, the brake, (!), VSC and ABS lights came on on the dashboard.
My wife is driving this car so I did not get the exact moment when the lights came on after my repair jobs.
I then replaced the 12V battery with a new one and reset the lights with the PIN 4-13 jumper on the OBDII connector. I did retrieved the error codes of each light and I googled them without any result and I now lost the paper where I had then written on
