See the video about my prius. its 2008 with 59k miles . It wont start anymore, I tried to jump without and with the trunk battery but nothing happens, it goes in park but it wont go to reverse or drive.
View 19 RepliesTruck was running fine, then just shut off, while driving thru town. Would not start any more that day. Would try to turn over, but, seemed like it wasn't getting gas. The next day it would crank up and run for a short time and then shut off again. This went on for about a week. Installed a new fuel pump and had same results. Checked fuel pump while out and got a strong stream. Fuel filter was clean, but, replaced anyway.
170,000 miles, regular maintenance.
My Prius would not start at all ( getting off from work last night. ) All kinds of flashing/blinking lights on the dashboard. Even the door locks won't work. I'll be calling my dealer first thing this morning.
View 3 RepliesI am a new Prius owner. I just purchased a 2008 with 27k miles yesterday, and last night I got the "red triangle of death". My car is currently back at the dealership after a very expensive tow. I only got to drive it for about 4 hours.
Before the break down, I was extremely excited to finally have a Prius, and was really happy with my purchase. I'm still excited about having the car, but I'm also highly disappointed that it broke down the day I bought it! I sure hope this isn't a sign to come! I see that most people love their cars, and I've read that they consistently get high dependability ratings.
I have a 2004 Screw lariat. When i turn the truck off, the locks no longer unlock automatically. Also when I press the unlock on my key fob, the headlights flash, but the doors do not unlock. And the driver side lock/unlock switch is no longer working either.. could this be a broken wire?
View 8 RepliesI have a 2008 F150 Super Crew 4x4 when you press the unlock button on the remote all the doors unlock, it use to be one push for drivers door and two would unlock all doors. I think the problem started after I had the battery changed out, how to get it back to one push for drivers door only?

View 4 RepliesI have my 2011 and all of a sudden my car stopped being able to sense it in the car or outside the car. The lock and unlock function still works which is puzzling, and when I tapped it to the power button in effort to start the car, the car still does not start and says it can't locate the key. I dropped a 85lb weight on it the other week at the gym but it appears there wasn't any damage when I took the key apart, and it was working fine up till now. The spare works fine, but I'm just hoping I don't have to buy another key...
Also noticed this is the same part number, and since i only need the new circuit board I'm assuming, I wonder if its the same size as the prius one...
I purchased my 2008 Explorer Ltd about 4 months ago with a 4.6L and 63k miles. I use it for towing a small travel trailer, so I don't put many miles on it. It's got about 66k on it now. According to OASIS, it has had all MFR maintenance performed up to the 60k mark.
In the past two months, it has developed a "sound" on startup. it goes away after about 75 seconds. To me it sounds like a typical exh manifold leak. That "3 cylinder, putt putt putt tractor" sound. There is no apparent affect on performance. It is definitely coming from the area of cyl #1. I have a recording here.

It is the "higher" of the sounds. The lower pulsing/whooshing is just regular engine noise. You can hear the regular engine noise as the camera pans to the back of the car.
What puzzles me is that the exh manifold sound goes away after 75 seconds or so. Holding the tailpipe shut for a bit builds up lots of pressure quickly. Do you think it IS, in fact, an exh manifold leak, and it seals up with thermal expansion as the engine worms up (75 seconds)? Is this a typical issue with the 4.6L
I just bought a 08 Screw with the 5.4 3 valve, 4x4 with the 373 gears, and 25,000 miles on it. I love the truck, but what is the best that you have gotten for mileage on your trucks with the 373 gears? Does it do better at 75 mph or 55? I haven't checked mine yet so I am wondering what to expect...

I replaced the air filter, the fuel filter and the spark plugs. I am only getting 14to 15 mpg mostly highway. No DTC's are showing up. The truck only has 50,000 miles.
View 6 Replies I finally upgraded from my 1998 F150 5.4 to a 2008 F150 Lariat supercrew 4x4 5.4 3v with 83k miles. I've had the truck about a week and have already noticed an issue. During light to moderate acceleration, I notice a slight hiccup in the 30-40 mph range. This "hiccup" is best described as a quarter second dead spot in the throttle. At times, I have noticed an additional hiccup between 20-30 mph that does the same thing. Occasionally, I will also feel a slight vibration on take off. It's important to note that if I accelerate at a quicker pace or really get on it, I can't feel the issue. I have also had a tough time replicating the issue when I deactivated overdrive. Not to say it wouldn't do it, but I really couldn't tell if it was doing it. Also, I've noticed that when I really get on it, It takes maybe a second to catch before accelerating. (From what I've read, that's common for 5.4s though, just thought I'd note it)
I have had spark plug and coil pack issues out of my 1998 model, but they felt different than what this truck is doing. Is it possible that this is the same issue but is manifesting itself differently? I briefly spoke with my mechanic and he seems to think it sounds like a torque converter issue. He checked for codes and none were showing or pending in the computer. Transmission shifts good. Fluid is a pinkish orange color, and there are no metal shavings on the oil dipstick. I started to notice the truck would sometimes shift a little hard into 4th. I took the truck by my mechanic and he rode with me. I was able to replicate the original issue. He told me it felt like something in the transmission. He said that my fluid smelled a little burned to him, but it was still a pinkish orange color. He said he would service the transmission and adjust the bands. The truck has 83k miles so I'm not too worried about a major transmission problem. He said he was fairly certain the servicing would correct the issue. I'm also going to have him put a new set of coils and plugs on as well. Am I missing anything?
I've searched around for a specific list of scheduled maintenance past the 150k mile mark but couldn't find a complete or a definitive list really. As you know, Ford's list stops at 150k. So, I have an 04 XLT Screw at 162K that runs like a charm.
View 1 Repliesthis is the second time this has happened to me: I stopped at a beach access to relax & look at the ocean, turned car off but left key in as was staying in car. When I decided to leave car would not start, dash lights would come on but that was all. Hit power button again lights went off but could not get key out of ignition. After several tries I call AAA, they charged something under the hood & said I needed a new battery. The first time this happened was several months ago & I never replaced the battery. When I got home I did the self check of the voltage & it was 12.8 & car is starting fine. Is this some kind of a computer glitch?

View 8 RepliesMy ABS light resets itself when I leave the truck, but when I go down the road later, after a few miles it lights up until I turn the engine off again. It's a 2008 Lariat Super Crew 60 K miles. I've searched and seen only a few posts related to the ABS. One item I've seen mentioned is a sensor on the rear differential. What other parts are in the ABS system that may cause a light to come on. How to troubleshoot the system would be great, too.

Only twice i got the VSC and Engine Check light. but it went off after 2 days. i Took it to the auto shop and did a scan, they said its giving lots of code (codes like: C1241, U0073, U0123,U0124, U0126, U0293, U0111) and they have reset the codes. and told if you get warning lights again then they can try.
I have a 2008 Prius. I drove it around in Florida for a few days and everything ran great, but about 4 hours into the trip back to Minnesota, the red ! triangle light came on with a message on the display screen. It said "There is a problem with the transmission "P" lock mechanism Park your your car on a flat surface and fully apply the parking brake." This happened as I was driving, so I pulled over and did what it told me. After shutting down the car, I tried starting it back up and none of the gears worked. P, R, D, or B.
The message still displayed and the red ! light was still on. After shutting it on off several times, it finally started. No warnings. I found the nearest Toyota dealer and had them check it out. They found nothing but one short circuit, around the same time the warning lights would have gone on. I googled the problem, and it seemed like everyone was saying the problem is caused by a bad 12V battery, so I told the dealer to put in a new one. I was on the road again. However, the first stop I made for gas and sure enough, the light came back and I couldn't get it into a gear without restarting the car several times. I just hope I won't need to spend any more money on this 2 year old car.
I have the LX570 2010. the left mirror doesn't fold any more. I took it to dealership and he suggested expensive fix for such a small motor rotating the mirror? Can I order the part from somewhere else?
