I have a weird problem with my 2006 with HID headlights and 78k miles. When I turn on the headlights, the reverse camera turns on & so do the back-up white lights. I can clear the reverse camera by pushing any button, but the back-up lights are a big problem. No codes are being seen via ODB, everything else works great, and no fuses appear to be blown.
View 15 RepliesOver the past few months the contrast on my backup camera has been getting worse. It's gotten to the point where almost the entire picture is very hazy. I've gotten obsessive about cleaning the lens but it doesn't do any good. How to correct this issue?
View 1 RepliesMy backup camera is only working about 20% of the time with no pattern to it. When I shift into reverse I get a bright white screen with colorful vertical lines in it. Everything else about my display works fine. Is there a way to reset something on this? Every now and then it works but most of the time I get the white screen with vertical colored lines. It's a 2006 package #8 with 63k.
View 13 RepliesI have a 2012 camry hybrid that had the stock push button radio and I wanted to add a backup camera. So I picked up a 2013 camry entune display head unit to replace the stock one without a display.
The backup camera does not work when the car is in reverse and I see that the mpg and other data does not update on the radio display, although all of the same data is displayed on the instrument cluster.
Is there anyway to view the backup camera when the car is not in reverse? During driving, while stopped, etc.?

The side mirrors tilt down and the rear shade will lower when put in reverse but the screen just stays on the navigation screen no flicker or black screen.. What could be the problem?

View 6 RepliesMy reverse camera goes over the mirror, its a mirror when not in use and a camera when in reverse. The way this one is set up, the camera taps switched 12 volts at the rear of the car (tapped trailer connector for these) and the video signal runs forward (ran under headliner to center console to mirror). The monitor needs 12 volts, ground, and + 12 volts when I shift into reverse. I just read a half dozen threads where people suggested tapping into a black wire with pink stripe in the driver's kick panel. Just checked, no such wire on mine. I do not want to run a wire back from the taillight, this seems backwards since the power goes from the front of the truck to the reverse light in the taillight I just need to find the right wire. I checked the reverse relay and the fuse in the fusebox and they are both 12 volts when the truck is on, so they must be prior to the reverse switch.

Also, is there a concern of voiding a warranty?
My backup camera seems to have all of a sudden lost its aim such that the alignment marker is higher on the right than it is on the left meaning that the edge of the bumper is higher on the right as well. It just happened all of a sudden and seems to be pointed a little to the left. Any way to adjust it or is this one for the 5K mile checkup?
View 4 RepliesI have a 2007 Prius and the MFD started to work intermittently and now has died. It is an 86110-47230. Is it more likely the MFD unit itself died or does the wiring in the dash sometimes go bad. Everything I have read suggests the MFD. My backup cam doesn’t work since the MFD died, and that is a safety issue and should be covered under some type of Fed safety regulations on a five year old car, but apparently not.
My battery tests good. Wiring connections on the back are connected well. Before I buy a used MFD and install it myself, I want to get an idea of the odds that it’s the MFD or wiring that is the problem.
Can the backup camera on the v be adjusted? Objects that are actually close look much farther away.

According to best buy technician, Prius factory harness is not supplying power when car is put in reverse gear. I am not sure how to address this problem.

Occasionally i get a vertical line on the left side of the screen when the backup camera is on. Its like the old film days with the line running down on the screen. I can't recreate it.
