I had a flat today and put on the spare. Over about 15 mph I got the Slip Warning light and the system was limiting my speed. Is there a button or something to disable the system so I can drive at normal speeds? From other postings it seems not. Is there anything else I should be doing???
View 11 RepliesI love my new 2006 Phaeton (white/beige) and have been trouble-free so far for first 2 months of ownership (12,000 miles) but now I get a Spare Tire Pressure Warning every time I start the car, that now stays on when I drive around. I don't even know where the spare tire is! It did just recently get cold in Chicago area suburbs, but I keep my car in the garage at all times.
View 3 RepliesJust picked up my 2013 GTI and was pleasantly surprised to find that it came with the Euro dash cubby already installed. Also discovered a Euro warning triangle in the spare tire compartment. Have these features been added as standard on the 2013's or did I just get lucky?
Now for the transmission question - do others find the 6 MT notchy, particularly between 1st and 2nd gear?
This sensor came on, I filled the tires up to 35 and it went away. A few weeks later, I decided to air the fronts to 40 and the backs to 38 PSI. The light came back on.
View 5 RepliesI just bought a 2007 prius and after a few days the tire pressure light went on and off for a few days, I since measured pressure and filled to the exact amt. and now the light stays on all the time {approx 5 days now} manual says contact toyota dealer, I have no money for that and do not feel anything is wrong.
View 7 RepliesGot the new tires the other day (Thursday) from a tire chain store. As I was driving off, I noticed the tire light warning turned on and then moments later, it turned off. I thought maybe it was just that. Today (Saturday) the tire light went on again. Brought the car back to tire store and the service manager checked the pressure, the tires were all low pressure, 29-30 psi instead of 35s. He re-inflated them all but the tire light will not turn off. So next step was he used a scanner tool which he attached close to all the tires.
View 6 RepliesI've had my prius since April and the tire pressure light keeps coming on. It's been in to the dealer 5 times now and they have yet to find out what's causing it. It doesn't come on when I'm driving in town but only when I'm going out of town on a trip. I make almost monthly trips that are approximately 180 miles one way. I don't go over any mountain chains or have any large increase/decrease in temperature. I've been documenting when it comes on and it seems to be about 1 1/2 hrs into our trip but it has come on earlier also. Basically, the light will come on, start blinking for several seconds and then stay on until the car is stopped. Then it'll turn off. However, I've also had it only stay on for a few minutes before it turned off. It's never on when I take it in to be looked at.

View 5 Replies2010 Prius V owner as of last week. All has been going well and got into the car this morning and all of the above noted lights are on at start-up and stay on as I drive. Have made appointment with the dealer but they cannot get me in until late next week. I did make a short drive this morning and all seemed fine with handling and braking. Searched a few threads here and answers are very varied and none that I saw had all of above lights on. I don't think that it is the Hill Start Assist. Safe to drive until we can get into the dealership?

View 4 RepliesWell heck, the PO of the truck I just bought has lost the spare key to the ignition, and the key that opens the tailgate and unlocks the spare tire. First question, is the key to the tailgate and spare tire the same key or are they different?
Second question, is there any simple way to have new keys cut for these things?
My right rear tire picked up a screw this evening heading back toward Seattle from Chelan. I put the spare on and continued on my way. I noticed for the first few miles the traction control warning light was on. It went off and stayed off until I stopped for fuel and again it came on for a few miles. I'm suspecting this is due to a slight diameter difference between the 20" wheels with the Michelins and the 18" spare. I really hope this didn't stress the differential (3.55 ELD). As I understand it, unless locked the ELD is open all the time..... I would assume Ford wouldn't equip the truck with an incompatibly sized spare......

View 14 RepliesIt was very cold in the morning yesterday and my tire pressure warning light came on. I had a funny feeling that it was related to the temperature but it didn't ever go off so I called Toyota today and they said to drop by with it and they would check it out. On the way there after work I got rear-ended. So sad. I thought it was just the bumper but the hatch won't latch properly so they said they would have to 'pull something out...". It was going to be about $800 for a new bumper but now will be more. I'm going tomorrow to see their collision guys about a quote to fix it. My poor car. I have to admit that even with a dented bumper the car still looks good!!! I don't know how I'm going to manage for the two days it takes to get it fixed. I have to re-learn how to use one of those key things.
The Toyota service person told me that he had 14 cars in today alone to reset the tire pressure warning lights that came on because of the cold weather. He said my tire pressure was fine. Just my bumper needs a little work.
I think my tire pressure warning light is malfunctioning. I check all the tires with different tire gauges and they are all showing around 40 psi. I reset the system by holding down the button and let the light flash 3 times after I check them. It is only sporadic and does not stay on unless one of the tires is low. I did have a loose valve stem, that I tightened myself. When it does this it seems to come on and flash before going off and does not stay on. Sometimes it stays on for a little while and then goes off. Could it be a bad sensor?

View 2 RepliesIn my one-owner purchased-new 2005 Prius w/ 74K miles and w/ no maintenance/accident history other than doing all scheduled maintenances at Toyota Dealers along w/ recalls applicable at each time (other than we had Toyota replace the 12V battery last year just because I knew it would die at some point anyway and I don't like pushing my luck; I'm not 100% certain if there's been a recall on any water pump for this car and if so, don't believe the dealer has mentioned it), I have the following indicators which appeared all at once while I was driving along at around 45 MPH in no unusual circumstances (80F, dry afternoon, about 30 minutes into a trip of mixed speeds, no loads in the vehicle, no effect on the car while driving):
From Left to Right on the display:
1) Red Triangle - Master Warning Light
2) Orange (Symbol)CHECK - Malfunction Indicator Lamp
3) Orange (!) - Brake Warning Light (but it didn't highlight the word 'Brake' in red)
4) Orange VSC - Vehicle Stability Control Warning Light
On the Screen:
Orange Car w/ the ! symbol - Hybrid System Warning Light
We immediately aimed for the house (about 5 miles away); the car drove perfectly fine, with the engine stopping and starting at lights as needed, with speeds going from the 55MPH we were traveling at the time of the alarms down to 0 and back up thru 35/45 MPH and such per normal off-interstate driving. The battery currently shows all the blue bars, and the engine and hybrid systems showed charge/discharge as usual as we drove. There was no discernible change in the driving reaction of the car to brake, steering, accelerator, etc.
My Prius touring had 4 205/55/16 tires. I had the mechanic change the front two tires to 205/50/16 and now, whenever I drive over 60mph, the slip indicator light flashes continuously. When I slow down, it goes away.
Is it because the front and rear tires are mismatched? If so, I'll have the mechanic change the rear to 205/50/16 as well.
