I have a 2010 Prius and I noticed for the first time today that the volume control knob stopped responding when I twisted it. I turned off the radio off then back on and it appeared to be working again.
My car has about 41,000 miles on it so I'm not sure if the warranty is still applicable.
Is there a possibility of the radio itself overheating causing this issue. I experienced this the other day, was driving around and the volume control on the radio no longer worked. Could turn it off and all other functions worked but the volume could only be changed from the tracer buttons on the steering wheel. Shutting the car off and back on worked but for how long? Seems that this should be a recall since several owners have experienced this issue with the jbl stereo.
View 7 RepliesI have a 2005 Toyota Matrix. The radio volume control knob does not change the volume. The volume is just constantly stuck at a set volume (luckily a reasonably soft one). I pulled the knob plastic cap off and sprayed some contact cleaner in there but nothing changed. What caused this problem and what I can try? I have taken the radio out and opened it (changed led bulbs) before so I feel comfortable doing that and tinkering around.
View 6 RepliesNo audio on 2001 Toyota Echo radio. Volume control never stops when rotated. Radio lights up, showing station frequencies as I change stations. My conclusion is Power-Volume switch is shot and needs to be replaced. Sound logical? Is it a big problem to remove radio and change the switch?
View 2 RepliesI discovered shortly after I bought my (used) 2012 C 4 that I couldn't turn off the radio. The volume knob didn't push in to turn off. Not a big deal, but I mentioned it to the dealer and they ordered me a new replacement knob. In the meantime, I just swapped the tuning knob over to the volume side and it's all fine. But I also discovered that the tuning knob side does push in – even with the broken knob – and not only that, it beeps when you push it. What is it supposed to be doing other than tune stations/change tracks? The Entune radio has a separate function for tone, balance, fader, etc., so it isn't doing that with the knob.
View 2 RepliesRight next to the tire pressure monitoring reset button (situated above the gas and brake pedals) there is a knob that when turned all the way right will click as if it was in an "off" position. What is this knob for? After doing a search, someone posted it is for volume control of the door locking chirp noise. Does it have any other function, or is this its real function at all? I didn't test it yet.
View 11 RepliesI just bought a very nice Lexus 2007 with a extend warranty from Toyota. This car is a dream to drive but one problem I have encountered, how to fix is the Climate control feature.
Sometimes my unit works properly then it stops responding. The problem I'm having is that the climate control button when pressed wont stay on the control setting on the Nav screen and goes back to the radio station screen.
I also can't control the temp up or down on either driver or passenger side. The only way it works is by using voice commands. I can't turn it off at all. I m going to take to the dealer but they said they never heard so a thing. But I showed the dealer today and he said there is a problem.
Turn on car and radio does not come on nor CD. The fan speed control does not work. Basically the main turning knob appears to be in-opt? Everything else appears ok. Says CD not available? There are the following symbols: -- -- on the screen where the radio station would display.
Is there a radio re-set ?

When I got my Prius, the volume knob didn't work, and I thought I could live with it. Steering wheel controls work fine except when I'm turning the wheel, then I have to chase the buttons. I really want the volume knob to function properly.
The post that inserts into the head unit volume receiving column is sheared off and stuck in there. I tried super-gluing it back together, but that didn't give me the slight bumpy sensation when I turned it. I thought it would at least depress, but not when it was superglued together. It won't pop in and out when I press on it when it was glued.
I have a 2011 Prius Four with JBL/navi package. When I go to turn the volume knob up or down the navi screen pops open as if I were going to eject or insert a cd. Only sometimes will it close back up when I press the eject/close button otherwise I have to twist the volume knob back and fourth until it randomly closes. THEN, when I set FM/AM station presets, power off the car, power car back on, the screen shows "loading" and everything resets except for the Bluetooth phone settings. Is there any firmware update I need to install via usb?

When streaming from my phone, it's great, using Sirus/XM, it's terrible. I called Sirus/XM, no luck there. I've asked the dealer about it several times over the last 3 years, no luck.
Has any found if there are Line Level input settings hidden that can be adjusted? Since it's loud enough when Streaming, that seems to be the issue. I really don't want to buy an amp, etc. I'd be happy with the volume level I get when streaming if it was that loud with Sirus/XM...
My car is 2012 Elantra. I want to remove the fan control knob. It was easy to pull Mode and Dual buttons straight out. But I don't know how to get the fan control knob off.
View 3 RepliesI have a 2004 Z71 Chevy Tahoe with 192,000 miles that runs great. The issue I have though is the electrical system is going haywire (no pun intended). The front A/C and heater stopped responding to the level knob, therefore doesn’t blow, the dash lights will periodically dim and go off, the horn doesn't work when I want it to, and the A/C would sometimes blow warm air when it did work. The A/C used to work on all levels of the dial, and then over time, level by level, they stopped working; however, the back blower works well on both A/C and heater, which is operated by the overhead control knob. I open the front vents to allow outside air in, rather than recirculated air, and the air coming out of the vents is A/C air, but it only blows when I'm driving of course.

I need to switch to another function in order to restore sound... ie, if it is on radio I need to switch to AUX. I have a video adapter installed, but it has always worked fine. This seemed to just start happening out of the blue.
View 4 RepliesI have a 2004 Phaeton that the main volume knob has broken on. The dealer tells me that the only way that they can provide a replacement is with the whole unit (nav screen and all) at a cost of over $2000. It seems to me that this part MUST be available somewhere for $20 or so.
View 4 RepliesI have a 2011 prius with just a regular stereo and no amplifier. the sound in the speakers go off when putting the volume up, however if I umplug the front speaker connector to the stereo the sound will work fine on the back speaker but once I plug that connector back the sound goes off. the sound to the speakers work fine with the Bluetooth.
View 17 RepliesI noticed since day one that my 2014 PiP radio is more static than my 2006 Prius. I also noticed that when I started moving in ev only, the radio volume level would drop. Well, I never really thought about it why till I got LED headlights. Now, the static is worst due to RF interference from the LED. So, it looks like there were more interference due to the ev electrical system. With the LED headlight, it made it worst. I have put a choke on the leads of the headlight, but it does nothing.

When starting the car, the radio comes on a full volume. Turning volume control knob does not work, but only turning off the radio or turning off the car. [This only occurs if the radio was left on when the car was shut off previously.]
Also, the problem is noticeable if the radio is off and the buttons on the navigation system are pushed resulting in a high-pitched "beep." Then I turn the car off, then on again, and everything is back to normal.
This happens about once or twice every couple of weeks.
I get frustrated when I start my car and the radio volume is really loud from my previous driving experience. When I shutdown my 2012 prius 3 with the radio volume turned up loud it seems to remember the volume level. I do not have volume control until 4 seconds after I start it.
View 4 RepliesI have a 2010 package IV not 4 because it is a 2010 and only 2010 used uppercase roman numerals for model designation, with jbl non nav stereo. I have been having issues with the volume control not working so was looking into upgrading it to a a jbl with nav since I can get a good deal on the stereo and nav antenna. My question is will the existing wire harness support this and will a unit from a 2012-2013 fit a 2010?
